Do you want a compact lens with a constant f/2.8 aperture? Does it have to be as sharp as a G-Master lens without the high price? Sony may have just given you what you asked for, provided that you don’t need an extensive zoom range.

Bigger isn’t always better and, for me, a key selling point of the Sony FE 16-25mm f/2.8 G is that it’s remarkably small and lightweight for a full-frame compatible wide-angle zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture rating. There are plenty of handling extras packed into this diminutive lens, making it a highly attractive proposition, but it doesn’t come cheap.

This is a much smaller, much cheaper alternative to the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master II, normally the go-to super-wide-angle zoom for Sony users. But it also sacrifices a lot of focal length at the long end of the zoom range, offering a maximum of 25mm.
