Conclusion

The SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD (Model F017) is a worthwhile update of Tamron's 90mm macro lens, especially as it comes with a significant price drop on launch compared to its predecessor.

In addition to the more professional looking design, better build quality and improved weather-resistance, this new edition of the Tamron 90mm Macro lens also offers faster auto-focusing, enhanced image stabilisation, and compatibility with the new TAP-in Console, whilst delivering even better image quality than the older version of the lens. The only real optical issue is obvious corner shading at the maximum aperture, something that you can easily remove in post-processing.

There's a lot to like about the new Tamron SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD (Model F017) lens, especially as it's now similarly priced to the main competition from Canon, Nikon and Sony. Highly recommended!
