Topaz ReStyle Review

Conclusion

We like the vintage, faded look and we managed to get that on some of the pictures that we tested in the program. Processing the filters once you're happy with the end result can take around 30 seconds. That's not too bad, but if you're processing a full set of images, it will soon build up.

Some areas of the program take a while to load. The computer we used for the test isn't the newest model, but has an AMD Athlon 64 processor and 3Gb RAM. That should be enough to cope with applying filters to a photograph.

Once the filters have loaded back into Photoshop (or whatever editing suite you're using), they don't look as bad as we originally thought when in the ReStyle program.

In ReStyle, the colours seem a lot more vivid, especially on the stronger filters. The main thing is to remember is that it won't look as strong when it's done.

But is that a good thing? Should you spend time adjusting the colour settings on a photograph only for it to be different when it's loaded into the main program?

The best thing to do with this program is to get it on the trial period. It may turn out that the filters are just what you're looking for and it fits you perfectly. We do consider that our outlook on them is subjective and we try not to be personal. But we do think that it's difficult to look at the filters when applied without wondering where they came up with them.
