Given that 95% of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300's functions are accessed via its screen, having a larger than average display proves both a boon initially, and, in the final analysis, a necessity. You either love or hate touch screen devices, and, if you've made it this far in the review, the notion can't have put you off. Don't let it, as the Sony T300 sports one of the most intuitive of menu and sub menu setups despite the lack of physical controls. Very quick to respond to your touch and effect any changes it is too. And, should you get a bit lost as you delve deeper and deeper into a wider array of options than found on the typical snapshot compact including those retouching functions a press of that 'home' button will act as some form of anchor. At around 250 / $400 though, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 feels pricey now that you can pick up a 10-megapixel camera for around 100 / $200. Though acceptable and colourful results can be achieve, its results are not quite as consistent as we may have hoped. Still, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 boasts a rock solid build quality and attractive brushed metal casing that goes some way towards justifying that price tag if style does truly matter as much as substance.
