Manfrotto have just launched their Compact Extreme 2-in-1 monopod / selfie stick. It boasts four-section tubes and a small ball-head that allows the monopod to be turned into a pole by simply moving it from the top of the handgrip to the bottom of the tubes. Weighing just 280g, the Compact Xtreme is quite lightweight but can hold a payload up to 1kg thanks to its Adapto and aluminium construction. Lexar has announced two additions to its CFast memory card line: the Lexar Professional 3500x CFast 2.0 card and the Lexar Professional 3600x CFast 2.0 card. The Lexar Professional 3600x CFast 2.0 card provides read transfer speeds up to 540MB per second, and comes in 256GB (£739.99) and 128GB (£394.99) capacities. Lexar has just announced a new 128GB version of its Professional 2000x SDXC UHS-II memory card. Apple today updated the entire iMac family. The 21.5-inch iMac is now available with a display featuring a 4096x2304-pixel resolution and 9.4 million pixels, 4.5 times more than the standard 21.5-inch iMac. The Retina 5K display that now comes as standard with every 27-inch iMac offers a staggering 14.7 million pixels of resolution. The new Retina panels feature a wider P3-based colour gamut that provides a 25 percent larger colour space than standard sRGB-based displays. Two Thunderbolt 2 ports now come standard on all iMacs and deliver up to 20Gbps data transfer speeds for external drives and high-performance peripherals. And three stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi allows every iMac to support up to 1.3Gbps wireless networking. The 21.5-inch iMac is available with a Retina 4K display starting at £1,199. The 27-inch iMac comes in three models starting at £1,449, £1,599 and £1,849.

Transcend have launched their CFast 2.0 CFX700 memory cards for industrial-grade applications. Compliant with the new-generation CFast 2.0 specifications, the Transcend CFX700 memory cards combine a SATA III interface and built-in SLC NAND flash; and boast a sequential read speed of 530 MB/s and write speed of 260 MB/s. Tamron have announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated lens case for their SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens. Sold as an optional accessory, the Tamron A011 lens case (Model LA011) features a padded removable shoulder strap, double zippered closure and a couple of side pockets for your lens accessories and smartphone. The case will go on sale on 15 October 2015 in Japan, and will also be available internationally. Pricing to be confirmed. Additionally, the company announced that their A011TL tripod collar (for the same lens) will also start shipping on 15th October.

Profoto have today released a new firmware upgrade for their B1 and B2 off-camera flashes, adding workflow improvements and enabling TTL metering with the Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras. When launched in November 2013, the Profoto B1 (pictured) was the world’s first off-camera flash to offer TTL functionality for both Canon and Nikon cameras. Earlier this year, the B1 was followed by the smaller and more portable Profoto B2, which offers the same TTL functionality as the B1. This latest firmware upgrade brings a series of improvements, including AirTTL compatiblity with the Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras, improved Canon integration for faster shooting in Manual mode, an option to deactivate Auto Power-off on all units, an improved display sleep function on air remotes, plus a number of minor bug fixes.

Phantom Glass has launched its first tempered glass screen protectors designed specifically for digital cameras.
