Fotodiox has launched the LED100WA high-intensity LED lights, a constant light source modelled after a familiar strobe form. Available in 5600K (Daylight, pictured) or 3200K (Tungsten) colour temperatures, these new lights are equipped with a standard Bowens (S) bayonet mount allowing the use of standard strobe accessories like soft boxes, snoots, grids, and more. “While not a traditional strobe in definition, the LED100WA lights are styled after strobe lighting, giving photographers a familiar format for a constant light source with high light output,” said Drew Strickland, vice president of Fotodiox. “Photographers looking for powerful yet cost-effective lights have been turning toward efficient LED lighting. Rollei has introduced three new add-on conversion lenses for the Apple iPhone 5. The Rollei 1.5x Macro Converter (€24.95) conains an aspherical glass lens and enables iPhone 5 users to focus as close as 22mm. The Rollei 0.28x Fisheye (€34.95) comprises three elements in two groups and has a minimum focus distance of 40mm. Finally, the Rollei 9x Tele Converter (€39.95) has an angle-of-view of 12°, comes with a mini tripod and attaches to the iPhone via a hard case (also supplied).

Manfrotto Lighting has released the new Lastolite Ezybox II Octa Quad Kit. The kit incorporates the Ezybox II Quad Bracket (previously known as the Ezybox Quad Bracket) and the new Ezybox II Octa softbox. WD and SanDisk are collaborating to introduce hybrid storage devices that feature SanDisk's flash memory technology and WD's hard drives. SanDisk is supplying a SanDisk iSSD storage device for the WD Black solid state hybrid drive (SSHD), the world's thinnest 2.5-inch SSHD solution, which utilises both WD proprietary hybrid technology and industry standard SATA IO technology. "Working with SanDisk, WD realized our vision for products that combine the best of both technologies," said Matt Rutledge, vice president of client computing at WD. Vanguard scooped up two accolades at this year's TIPA awards ceremony. Named 2013's 'Best Inkjet Photo Paper' by the judging panel of the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), and available in various sheet and roll dimensions; the Ilford Galerie Prestige Gold Mono Silk is a 270gsm paper that is fully compatible with both pigment and dye-based printers. In addition to recognition by the TIPA, it has already picked up a Photokina Star Award on its debut in Germany and more recently a Digital Camera Grand Prix Gold Award from Japan.

Manfrotto has just launched its newest product, the new Manfrotto 500 vdeo head. This lightweight fluid head, designed for users of the latest HDSLRs and video cameras, replaces the Manfrotto 701HDV and becomes the smallest head to be built around Manfrotto’s so-called Bridging Technology. The “hollowed out” structure of Bridging Technology heads gives the Manfrotto 500 Video Head a great advantage. Without sacrificing its light weight, it has a top plate that is broader, providing better support of the wider shape of DSLRs. Sony has launched a new range of accessories for its HDR-AS15 Action Cam. These include the AKA-WM1 wrist mount strap, the AKA-SM1 surfboard mount, the AKA-FL1 float - which prevents the Action Cam from plummeting into the depths if you drop the camera while swimming -, the ADP-BH1 ball head, the AKA-SF1 skeleton frame - which is claimed to be ideal for secure tripod mounting - and the AKA-DM1 dog harness. There’s also a new firmware update that powers up Action Cam with extra features and a new High Frame Rate mode. The new range of sports-focused mounting accessories and firmware update for the HDR-AS15 Action Cam Full HD video camera are available from June.
