Corbis Images have announced a new online Portfolio that highlights the extensive inventory of its nine signature collections. The Corbis Portfolio collections feature a broad range of commercial, editorial and historical images; including studio portraits of celebrities, realistic and expressive images capturing today’s youth and their everyday experiences, conceptual photography, authentic shots showcasing people in everyday business and lifestyle situations, stock compositions in contemporary, casual and elegant settings,  wildlife images, photographs showing nature’s great wonders, microscopic images and a historical photo album with more than 11 million irreplaceable images of key world events. Bowens has launched a new website dedicated to American photographers. The site contains latest information on over two hundred Bowens products complete with brochures, operating instructions and exclusive ‘how to’ videos developed by some of the world’s top photo-lighting experts. Also, American customers can buy directly from the website and have their goods shipped rapidly by UPS delivery from the company’s dedicated Chicago warehouse.

Nikon are running an online teaser campaign dubbed “I Am Coming” with a countdown of less than 34 hours. Recent Nikon rumours include the launch of new professional DSLRs and the company’s venture into compact system cameras. It seems that only time will tell (33 hours, 11 minutes and 8 seconds, to be exact)...

Using an approach similar to that of Vimeo/YouTube, SoundCloud and Scribd, a new service called Picuous allows people to present their pictures in an interactive HTML5 player that makes it easy for their audience to share them with one-click simplicity. At the same time, the photographers are provided with detailed traffic statistics so they can keep track of their pictures online. “Some plateforms, such as Tumblr, already have picture “reblogging” and “liking” features,” says Martin Pannier, Cofounder & CEO, Picuous. “In fact, half of the the 14 million daily posts on Tumblr are picture posts, and these posts are the most shared, reblogged, and commented upon. But these features are only available inside the platforms, while Picuous makes them available cross-platform.”

To commemorate its sixtieth anniversary, Tamron has announced the project “Eternity at a Moment - The Vision of 60 Photographers.” In this project, 60 photographers used Tamron’s 18-270mm Di II VC PZD lens to capture how they perceive “Eternity at a Moment.” Their creations will be displayed on Tamron’s special website and at a photographic exhibition. The official website launched today and is currently featuring the works of sixteen photographers. Further works will be posted to the site on 12th and 20th September. The offline exhibition will open its gates on 5th October in Tokyo, Japan.

Panasonic is launching a new photo sharing service called Lumix Club to coincide with the release of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX90 digital camera, which features Wi-Fi connectivity. The service offers external site link function to support easy Social Network Service posting using the DMC-FX90 without having to worry about complicated settings, the company says. The External Site Link function allows users to upload a photo or video to multiple sites (including Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and YouTube) simultaneously. In the future, Lumix Club will provide additional functions such as a storage service, and album timeline display function and a device link function, which allows e.g. the photo of a faraway grandchild posted to Lumix Club to be viewed or downloaded using a Panasonic DIGA Blu-ray Disc recorder. Flickr has announced that it has reached another milestone - the 6 billionth photograph was uploaded to the site on Monday by user eon60. The photo, which depicts a Montbretia flower, was taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 digital compact camera. “Over the last few years Flickr has seen consistent growth, with uploads increasing over 20% year-over-year,” Flickr said in a statement.

Online backup experts MiMedia have teamed up with Digital Memories to offer customers a combined digitisation-backup service. Customers who enlist Digital Memories to scan photos will have the option to automatically pre-populate a MiMedia account. MiMedia offers 7GB of free storage space to any and all consumers, and Digital Memories customers with media collections larger than 7GB will still receive three months of MiMedia for free, with a discount on conversion.

ClickrChart is a new Web-based application aimed at identifying the most interesting photographers and their photos in the Flickr world. “ClickrChart extracts the top 100 most popular photos, using the secret interestingness recipe created by Flickr,” says ClickrChart owner Gianluca Merlo. “The website provides free daily, weekly and monthly charts as well as interviews with the most popular photographers in order to promote a photographic culture and encourage rookies to improve themselves.”

Blurb has announced a new integration that enables Instagram users to quickly and easily turn their photos into professional-quality books. The Blurb integration automatically increases the resolution of Instagram camera phone images if necessary, making them suitable for a 7x7-inch square-format book. To create a book, users simply sign into their Instagram account on the Blurb website. The most popular image, based on the number of Instagram “likes”, is added to the cover. The most recent photos are then autoflowed into a book that can be previewed and purchased or edited using Blurb’s online bookmaking tool, Bookify. Pricing starts at under £7 ($11).

Crowdbooks, a new platform that combines crowdfunding with photo book publishing, has officially launched. The concept is built on a model that brings together talented photographers and supporters of the arts with a quality-focused independent publisher. “Crowdbooks will create a passionate community wherein the artists and investors work hand-in-hand to bring a new photo book to life,” says Crowdbooks founder Stefano Bianchi. “For would-be investors, the Crowdbooks platform offers them an compelling opportunity to both support the arts and have a hand in the success of a photographic artist and the resulting book. Sony UK today announced the launch of PR!NT, a new online photo printing service powered by PhotoBox. The service, which has been developed to help photo lovers do more with their digital photographs, will evolve over time to provide new ways for customers to get the most out of features unique to Sony such as Sweep Panoramas. It will also offer an unlimited online storage for a secure back-up of their photos. The service can be accessed through the website below. Apple iCloud is a set of free new cloud services that work seamlessly with applications on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content. When anything changes on one of your devices, all of your devices are wirelessly updated almost instantly. iCloud’s Photo Stream service automatically uploads the photos you take or import on any of your devices and wirelessly pushes them to all your devices and computers. iCloud will be available this Autumn concurrent with iOS 5.
