Canon USA is revamping its Canon Professional Services (CPS) program in early 2009. The new CPS program, which will require all existing members to reapply, will offer three levels of membership – Silver, Gold and Platinum. “A day without a camera is a day without revenue. It is with this sense of urgency that Canon U.S.A. is upgrading the level of service provided by our CPS program to better support our Canon professionals in the field,” stated Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. CPS Silver level membership will be offered free-of-charge. CPS Gold level membership will have an annual fee of $100, and CPS Platinum $500.

iLovePhotos has announced the official release of its public beta. iLovePhotos is free desktop software for Macs that uses facial detection, visual tagging, automated sharing, and intelligent slide show technology to manage your digital photos. Alongside the launch of its public beta, iLovePhotos has also introduced a new Flash-based version of its Mac application. Users can access the online software from any Mac or PC without downloading any software.

Boots has teamed up with Photobox to provide a range of online photographic services to UK customers. All Photobox products including the latest photobooks, canvases, home accessories and gifts will be available directly from the Boots.com website. Ross Crombie, photo category manager, Boots said: “This is the first time that Boots has teamed up with a specialist online retailer in this way. The move will provide our customers with the very best service and products that the web has to offer in the photographic market.”

Shutterfly Share Sites is a new service that combines the best of photo sites, blogs, and social networking. Leica owners can now submit their best photos to the London Fotografie International (LFI) gallery. Images taken with a LEICA M8, C-Lux, or D-Lux camera can be submitted, and the best submissions will be chosen by a jury and exhibited on the website. Quarter of a million stock images were captured during PhotoShelter’s Shoot! The Day event, held on July 20, 2008. Shutterstock’s royalty-free image bank has surpassed 4 million images, making it the World’s largest microstock photo agency.
