The folks over at Custom SLR have just built the World’s Largest Camera Tripod Christmas Tree. The 17.4-feet structure, which is made up of 40 Fotopro camera tripods, took 14 hours to build and is decorated with 486 feet of garland lights and 300 ornaments. "We’re donating all the decorations to the Salvation Army and all the tripods to afterschool and nonprofit photography programmes," says Custom SLR's Long Nguyen. Launched today on Kickstarter, Tooga Gear is billed as the first truly modular camera gear that allows you to capture video footage in a small form factor without compromise.  Tooga comprises two different types of component: Tooga Shell and Tooga Extensions. The Tooga Shell mounts to your camera of choice and connects to the unique Tooga Extensions, which are the legs and arms of the system. Currently, there are 3 Tooga Extensions including a dolly, a guerilla cage and a suction mount, with others planned for the future. The design, prototyping, and testing is complete but now the inventors need your help to finance the commercialisation of the system. Eye-Fi has just announced a beta Windows desktop receiver for the Mobi card. With pricing yet to be announced, Eye-Fi’s new desktop receiver for Windows will be free to all customers during beta and gives Mobi users more choice in where their high-quality photos can be transferred, stored and shared. Mobi users will now have the option to transfer to mobile for on-the-go sharing or to the desktop for greater archiving and editing ability – all without the hassle of wires. The beta Eye-Fi desktop receiver for Windows is available for Mobi users to download now, with a Mac version coming soon.

Nikon Japan has issued a product advisory concerning the CF-DC6 Semi Soft Case, an optional accessory for the Nikon Df digital SLR camera. The company says the case does not fit the camera properly and will therefore be redesigned. If you have already purchased a CF-DC6, Nikon will replace it with the improved one free of charge (at least if you live in Japan, that is).

UK-based Ilford Photo has announced a new range of variable-contrast Baryta Fibre Base papers, a completely new and improved Multigrade FB and a new Cooltone FB paper to complement the existing Multigrade FB Warmtone offering. The new paper is available in Glossy and Matt surfaces and offers sharper images, improved maximum density and shorter exposure times. The new Multigrade FB Classic has also been developed to better respond to traditional toning techniques.

Booq has revealed its latest product, the Python slimpack. Intelligently designed to pack all the necessary essentials photographer’s need to get the job done, the Python slimpack stores two DSLRs and up to four mid-size lenses, as well as one large zoom lens, tripod and a up to a 10-inch tablet. “The days where a camera was the only tool a photographer carried are long gone,” says booq’s Lead Designer, S. Eizo has launched a 40-second animated film on its global YouTube channel to help promote its ColorEdge range of monitors. Animation designer Katy Beveridge says, "The inspiration for the Eizo Christmas animation, initially came from early Russian Stop-Motion animation films which used built models and small scale sets. I often find inspiration from the rich and diverse history of the animation industry which extends far beyond the more popular cell, or drawn animation”.
