Zhongyi Optics have announced two new lenses, the 42.5mm f/1.2 and 24mm f/1.7, for mirrorless cameras. The new Zhongyi Mitakon 42.5mm f/1.2 Lens features an incredibly fast aperture of f/1.2, making it ideally suited for low-light conditions shooting, greater control over selective focus and shallow depth of field imagery. The new Zhongyi Mitakon 24mm f/1.7 Lens is a fast prime wide-angle lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 35mm, making it ideally suited for everyday shooting applications. The recommended retail price of the 42.5mm f/1.2 is $359 and the 24mm f/1.7 is $289.

Delivering shutter speeds as fast as 1/32,000sec, the electronic shutter is completely silent, making the Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition one of the most discreet professional cameras out there. New to the suite of Film Simulation modes is Classic Chrome, which delivers subtle colours and beautifully muted tones reminiscent of vintage reversal film. Zeiss are set to launch a new family of lenses at Photokina, dubbed Loxia. Rumoured to be for Sony FE full-frame mirrorless cameras (A7S, A7R, A7), the new range will be joined at the show by another Otus full-frame DSLR lens as well as new rangefinder products. Ricoh has posted six high-resolution sample photos captured with the new Pentax Q-S1 compact system camera. Taken using a variety of Q-mount lenses, these Pentax Q-S1 samples were all shot at low sensitivity settings (ISO 100/21°and ISO 125/22°), and feature a range of subjects and genres including still lifes, flowers, fruits, animals and cityscapes.

The Pentax Q-S1 is a new compact system camera with a 1/1.7-inch, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor. Key highlights include a maximum sensitivity setting of ISO 12,800, a dust removal system,  Full HD movie recording, compatibility with Eye-Fi wireless LAN SD memory cards and a range of creative tools to create uniquely personalised images and add filter effects with just a turn of a dial. This exquisitely designed, small and lightweight camera boasts an all-metal finish and comes bundled with the world’s slimmest pancake zoom lens for go-anywhere creativity. Epson today announced that its Ultimicron electronic viewfinder technology is incorporated in the new Leica Visoflex electronic viewfinder for the Leica T compact system camera. The newest, Visoflex is an optional high-resolution electronic viewfinder that boasts XGA (1024 x RGB x 768), 2.36 million dot resolution. The use of a color filter prevents the colour break-up that can occur with other colour systems when shooting fast-moving subjects and while panning. First launched in 2009, Ultimicron is based on the HTPS technology that ensures sufficient visibility in any environment, Epson claims.
