Winners and runners-up from the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) and RHS Photographer of the Year competitions will be exhibited together for the first time at the RHS's flagship garden Wisley in Surrey. Free with normal garden entry, the exhibit will display the winning images of both competitions as well as the category winners and finalists of: The Beauty of Plants, Beautiful Gardens, Wildlife in the Garden, Bountiful Earth and Wildflower Landscapes from IGPOTY as well as People in the Garden, Abstract and Details, Plant Portrait and Wildlife in the Garden from the RHS Photography Competition. The displayed works will be on show in the Glasshouse Gallery at RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey from 21 June to 11 August 2013, with the exception of 25 & 26 June.

Yorkshire Gallery, Creation Fine Arts, has announced a new competition opportunity for photographers in the Yorkshire and Humber region. "“There is a statistic, often quoted, which states that 25% of all rainwater falling on England is discharged through the mouth of the Humber," says Nigel Walker, owner of Creation Fine Arts. "We don’t know if that’s true but it prompts the question - Where does it come from? The 2013 RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Photography Competition is now open for entries. Amateur and professional photographers can submit images in six adult categories including seasons, wildlife and people in the garden as well as two categories specifically for under-18s. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category from an overall prize fund of £5500. The competition is open until 1 November 2013. Entries can be submitted online at the website below.

Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin have been awarded the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2013 for their publication War Primer 2 at a special ceremony held in The Photographers’ Gallery yesterday evening, Julia Taeschner, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Deutsche Börse said: "We are very pleased with the decision of the jury and would like to congratulate the artist duo Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin. Through their work the winners of the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2013 reflect one of the most controversially discussed topics in today’s society." The £30,000 award was presented by film director Mike Figgis.

The PES Group has announced a photo competition with the tagline "Europe, I've got something to tell you." Now in its sixth year, the contest challenges amateur photographers to capture in a photo their expectations about Europe. The competition runs until 30 June 2013 and is open to European residents aged 18 and older. The winner will receive €2,000 worth of photographic equipment, plus a three-day trip for two to Brussels.

The 2014 Sony World Photography Awards, organised by the World Photography Organisation, are now open for entries. Photographers will compete for a range of cash prizes and the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony. Overall winners will be announced in London on 30 April 2014. The Awards include the following competitions: Open, Professional, Student Focus and Youth. The winner of the 2014 L’Iris d’Or/Photographer of the Year title will be presented with $25,000 and the Open Photographer of the Year will receive $5,000. Professional, amateur, youth and student photographers from across the world can enter their best work for free at the website below.

The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers have announced the winners of the Life on the Street Photography competition. The picture, "Street Artist" by Antonio Rojas (Philippines) was chosen as the winner from the 1020+ pictures entered in to the contest. Heifer International and Rankin have teamed up to spotlight world hunger and poverty with the launch of a worldwide photography competition. Photography enthusiasts, both amateur and professional, are asked to submit images conveying what the word ‘Hunger’ means to them through the lens of a camera. Rankin will select the winning photograph, which will be showcased at a high-profile gallery in Los Angeles and also published in his biannual fashion and culture publication, The Hunger. Creative platform Talenthouse will accept entries of hunger-themed images from its more than 2 million members from May 21 to July 2, 2013. A public vote from July 3-17 will determine finalists, and the winning photograph will be announced July 23.

The Federationof European Professional Photographers (FEP) has announced the winners of its European Professional Photographer of the Year 2012 competition. The overall winner is Peter Gordon from Ireland, who also won the Golden Camera 2012 award in the Reportage category, whilst the Young European Professional Photographer of the Year 2012 title has been awarded to Antonio Pérez Rojo of Spain.

Warsaw-based documentary photographer Jan Brykczyński has tonight, Wednesday 15 May, been announced as the winner of the Syngenta Photography Award Professional Commission at a ceremony at Somerset House, London. In addition to the $15,000 prize money, Brykczyński will receive a grant of up to $25,000 to complete a commission, a central part of the professional competition. “Farming Tribes” will explore the relationship between human beings and nature in four of the world’s major urban spaces – New York, Yerevan, Warsaw and Nairobi. Mimi Mollica (Italy), announced as the second place winner for the Professional Commission, was awarded US$ 10,000, and Pablo Lopez Luz (Mexico) received US$ 5,000 in third place. Holly Lynton (USA) was announced as winner of the Open Competition for “Sienna, Turkey Madonna”, in which a farm worker embraces four turkeys that are to be slaughtered for Thanksgiving on an independent farm in the small town of Shutesbury, Massachusetts.

West Cumbria Tourism is calling on all budding photographers to send in their pictures with the launch today of a competition designed to capture the heart of the "other side" of the Lakes. The competition, supported by the Trout Hotel, Cockermouth, and the Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater, is open to residents and visitors to the area and photographs are welcomed from everyone from amateur snappers to professional photographers. "With the arrival of spring and the bluebell and daffodil season in full swing; this is the perfect time to take your camera and capture the heart of the Western Lake District," the organisers say. The closing date for entries is June 30th. The competition is open to all age groups and can be entered by emailing images directly to [email protected]

Unified Color has announced the call for entries for its latest HDR imaging contest. To enter, participants choose their favorite HDR image(s) and resize them to 72 ppi with a width no wider than 900 pixels and email the entries to Unified Color at [email protected] The contest will last for 43 days, and submissions can be made until midnight on Tuesday, June 18th. The body of the entry email must state “I have read and accept the contest rules” and include the entrant’s name, email, and phone number.  The entry must have been edited in HDR Expose 2, HDR Express 2 or 32 Float v2 at some point in its creation. The winners will be announced on the company website and blog on June 12th. As always we suggest that you read the rules before entering your work.

The New Forest National Park Authority has teamed up with the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst to launch a joint open art competition. If you are a budding artist, photographer or craftsperson who takes inspiration from the New Forest, the organisers would like to hear from you. The competition is sponsored by ExxonMobil at the Fawley Refinery and local magazine Park Culture. The overall winner will receive £500, the second-prize winner will be awarded with a cash prize of £300, while the third-place winner and the People's Prize awardee wins £100 each, with the latter also receiving a feature in Park Culture magazine. The Syngenta Photography Award Exhibition includes the works of the six finalists of the first-ever Syngenta International Photography Awards. In its inaugural year, the theme of the award is “Rural-Urban”, which aims to raise awareness and stimulate dialogue about the relationship and tensions between urban and rural environments, and to further explore the impact these issues have on global resources. Taking place at Somerset House, London from 17 - 21 May 2013, the exhibition features a selection of entries by finalists Jan Brykczyński (Poland), Pablo Lopez Luz (Mexico), Mimi Mollica (Italy), André François (Brazil), Holly Lynton (U.S.) and Vitaliy Popkov as well as over fifty other artists.
