The Telegraph’s “Our Lives” photography competition is being sponsored by Ilford and judged by world-renowned photographer David Bailey. There are five categories - Our People, Our Places, Our Environment, Our Lives in Motion and Our Events. The winers will be displayed in the Proud Central Gallery, just off Trafalgar Square in London, from the 25th of August to the 9th of September, 2007.

You could win a trip for two to Japan in the first ever “What is Zen?” photography contest. Organised by ZEN Green Tea Liqueur, America’s first super-premium green tea liqueur, you must be over 21 to participate. The winning photograph will be a modern expression of the Zen philosophy. The Hasselblad Masters Award 2008 celebrates the best in both established and rising photographic talent. Submissions for 2008 will be accepted from both professional photographers using large and medium format cameras and up and coming photographers, regardless of length of time in the business or camera format used. Winners will receive the use of an H3D digital camera system for two periods during 2008. Applications for the 2008 Hasselblad Masters Awards are being accepted until November 1st, 2007.

Nikon is teaming up with Wanderlust, the UK’s leading adventure-travel magazine, for the UK’s longest-running annual travel photography competition. Brazilian photographer Julio Bittencourt is the winner of the prestigious Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2007. Bittencourt submitted a series of portraits of inhabitants of a house occupied by homeless people in downtown São Paulo. Honourable mentions went to Spaniard José Cendon and Norwegian Margaret M. de Lange. Held since 1979 in memory of the inventor of the first 35mm camera, Oskar Barnack,  the competition focuses on the relationship between man and his environment.

The Fujifilm Z-Inspiration photo contest invites you to enter original photos inspired by the letter “Z”. Photographers of all levels aged 18-25 can upload their entries by August 31, 2007. Four winners will win a VIP trip to New York City to attend the FinePix Z10fd Launch Party in October. The trip will include $500 spending money, a NYC Helicopter tour and 2 Fujifilm FinePix Z10fd digital cameras.

The Hey, Hot Shot! competition is now accepting entries for the Summer 2007 Edition. Run by the Jen Bekman Gallery in New York, the work of 10 winners will be exhibited from from September 5th - 9th, 2007. The deadline for entry is Tuesday, August 7th, 2007.

The One City, Many Destinations photography competition asks you to pick one image that best captures the essence of a city. The grand-prize winner will receive CITY Magazine’s cover shot, a Leica M8 and other prizes. The deadline for entry is 11:59 p.m. EST on July 31, 2007.

The winner of the Travel Photographer of the Year 2007 contest will be able to photograph His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In addition the winner will receive an Apple MacBook with Aperture 1.5 software, Adobe CS3 Web Premium software, a £2,500 TPOTY bursary, and a Plastic Sandwich leather portfolio book. Entries for TPOTY 2007 are now open to amateur and professional photographers, and the contest closes on October 3rd.

The winners of the Nikon Photo Contest International 2006-2007 have been announced. The Grand Prize was awarded to Mr. Tung Khanh Le of Vietnam for his work entitled ” crossing waves.” More than 16,000 entrants submitted in excess of 47,000 photographs, with works coming from a total of 135 countries and regions.

German Eduardo Hernández Saavedra from El Salvador was chosen from more than 10,500 entries as the winner of HP’s Street Photography competition. Winning entrants will have their photographs exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles Photography festival.
