“The S200 has some interesting features and produces some good results as a point and click camera. It is also stylishly designed and compact enough to take just about anywhere. Colour renditions are generally every accurate, and the macro mode produces some good results. Overall, a good quality camera with a good value and affordable price tag.”

DigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the Casio EX-Z1050, a 10.1 megapixel digital camera which features a new 2.6-inch wide, 14:9 aspect ratio LCD display.

“The Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 originally retailed for $299 in March 2007, but the price has been dropped by the manufacturer to $269. The camera is less expensive than almost all other 10-megapixel point-and-shoot models. Unfortunately, there are reasons for that. The LCD screen has poor resolution and a limited viewing angle. The 3x lens isn’t very high-quality and at times causes chromatic aberrations. The auto focus system doesn’t seem to work well as most pictures are blurry or simply lacked detail. The processing time is atrocious and caused plenty of missed opportunities.”

Megapixel.net have reviewed the new Canon S5 IS ultra-zoom compact camera, which features a 12x optical zoom lens equivalent to 36-432mm, optical image stabilizer and 8 megapixel sensor.

“The Canon PowerShot S5 IS is a camera designed for advanced amateurs, and some time is required to tame it and obtain the highest image quality. Nevertheless, it would appear that the 8-megapixel resolution seems to be at the limit of what the lens can support, and with wide angle shots it is not unusual for images to require some post capture sharpening. Similarly, noise is a factor and the S5 IS produces its highest image quality if sensitivity is kept to a maximum of 200 ISO.”

CNET have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix L11 digital camera, which offers 6 megapixels, 2.4 inch LCD screen, 3x zoom lens (37.5-112.5mm), maximum ISO of 800 and a choice of 16 Scene modes.

“It’s easy to forget about budget cameras. They don’t tend to be flashy, they rarely have unique features, and they just aren’t very interesting. You shouldn’t count them out, though; some budget cameras offer surprisingly good picture quality for a very low price. The Nikon Coolpix L11 is one such camera, a 6-megapixel point-and-shoot that produces very nice pictures, with a price tag of less than $150.”

The new Fujifilm A920 is a 9 megapixel entry-level digital camera aimed at the first-time buyer. The A920 features Super CCD sensor technology, a 4.0x optical zoom lens, Picture Stabilization mode and a large 2.7 inch LCD screen. The Fujifilm A920 will be available in September 2007 for $199.95.

The Kodak C513 is an entry level digital camera that uniquely uses a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor. Costing less than US $99 and available in August 2007, the Kodak C513 beats the likes of Canon and Sony to the gun by incorporating its KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor. “Traditionally, CMOS has allowed for lower cost camera design but was not able to provide top image quality.  Kodak has changed that dynamic with the introduction of a digital camera at a remarkably affordable price without compromising image quality or camera function.” said John Blake, General Manager, KODAK Digital Capture and Devices.

The Panasonic DMC-FZ18 digital camera features a 18x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 28-504mm on a 35mm film camera. The 8.1 megapixel Panasonic FZ18 features the new and unique Intelligent Auto Mode, which automatically selects the most appropriate setting according to the situation. An Optical Image Stabiliser, face detection mode, ISO 6400, a joystick for manual adjustment of focusing and exposure setting and RAW mode complete the headline specs.

The 8 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX55 and Panasonic DMC-FX33 digital cameras both offer a 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens (28-100mm), optical image stabiliser, face detection and intelligent scene selection. The FX55 has a large 3 inch LCD screen, whilst the FX33 offers a smaller 2.5 inch monitor. Intelligent Auto Mode automatically selects the most appropriate setting according to the situation.

“With a price tag of $349, the Panasonic TZ3 is a good value for a select niche market of consumers looking for a small point-and-shoot with a longer, stabilized zoom lens. There are plenty of image-stabilized, 10x optical zoom cameras out there, but none retain the point-and-shoot simplicity and basic design of the TZ3.  It competes with tiny, itsy-bitsy point-and-shoots that don’t offer the high zoom, and heavier, SLR-styled compacts; however, no other camera currently offers its feature set in a point-and-shoot design. “

ePhotoZine have reviewed the Samsung i7 digital camera, which features a 3.0 inch touch screen LCD which rotates through 180 degrees, 7 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and integrated Portable Multimedia Player.

“Well, it’s a sexy beast and no mistake, with the rotating, touch-enabled screen adding even more style. Build quality is high and it looks great. It’s very easy to use with that large, touch-sensitive screen. Performance wise, it’s pretty average and you don’t have to go far before the frailties start to show. The ISO performance is poor and detail resolution for landscapes is indifferent at best.”

“Basically, though the Casio Z75, with its standard 3x optical zoom (38mm-114mm/35-mm equivalent) is your basic snapshot camera with some useful extra features and decent, albeit not great, image quality (as long as you avoid high ISOs and the noise-inducing Anti-Shake DSP, which automatically boosts the ISO). The combination of the camera’s small and stylish design, ease-of-use, affordable price and respectably fast performance will appeal to point-and-shooters who want a camera without a steep learning curve to capture their snapshots.”

Megapixel.net have reviewed the Samsung L74 Wide digital camera, which features a 3.0 inch touch screen LCD, 7 megapixels, 3.6x optical zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens.

“Yet, used with natural light, the L74 Wide is able to yield low-noise images up to 200 ISO, and even 400 ISO when both subject and light lend themselves to it. The upper sensitivities, however, are much as they are on current compact cameras. 800 ISO is noisy, and 1600 ISO produced images that look a tad pointillist.”

CNET have reviwed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T20 digital camera, which features 8 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and is in pink, white, black and silver.

“Image quality was good for a compact camera, and better in some ways than last year’s model, but those benefits came with trade-offs of their own. While colors are more saturated overall in the T20 than the T10, the noise profile is completely different in the T20. This make s sense, given the increase in pixel count and Sony’s switch to its new Bionz image processor, which was developed for its Alpha DSLR-A100 digital SLR.”
