Casio EX-Z1050CNET have reviewed the Casio EX-Z1050, a 10.1 megapixel digital camera which features a new 2.6-inch wide, 14:9 aspect ratio LCD display.

“The Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 proves how just one flaw can almost ruin an otherwise fine camera. While it takes nice photos and works well, the blurry screen makes framing the simplest shots difficult. For a larger, much more legible screen with the same solid features and small size, consider instead the lower-resolution EX-S770.”

Canon A570 ISImaging Resource have reviewed the Canon A570 IS compact digital camera, which offers a 7.1 megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom lens, Face Detection Technology and Red-Eye Correction, plus an Optical Image Stabilizer to combat camera shake and full manual control.

“In its class, the Canon A570 IS scores above average marks on the things that really matter: startup, shutdown, autofocus shutter lag, prefocus lag, shot-to-shot cycle time, download speed, LCD size and weight. Its 4x optical zoom and 10 second flash recycle time are average, but a long flash recycle time usually indicates a powerful flash and a 4x zoom certainly beats the 3x zooms common in this category.”

Sony H9DPReview have just reviewed the 15x zoom Sony H9 digital camera.

“I have to say that the H9 was a camera I really expected to like, and I started this review expecting to be able to rave about how a great camera had got even better. In reality my experiences with the new flagship Cyber-shot zoom were decidedly mixed, and at times downright disappointing.”

Casio EX-V7Steves Digicams have reviewed the Casio EX-V7, the world’s slimmest digital camera with a 7X optical zoom lens (equivalent to 38-266mm on a 35mm film camera).

“The EX-V7 is very compact, and considered an “ultra-compact”, but its ergonomics are good. The right hand side of the body is raised slightly to bring the shutter release and power button up, making it much easier to access with your index finger. The space between the 4-way controller and zoom controls allow you to place your thumb without interfering with any buttons. The onscreen menus are easy to navigate and use, allowing you to concentrate on your picture taking without worrying about settings. The durable all-metal body will protect it from everyday bumps and bruises.”

Sony W80DCResource have reviewed the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W80, which offers 8 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens, metal body, 2.5-inch LCD screen and an eye-level viewfinder.

“Overall, the DSC-W80’s image quality was good but not great. On the positive side, photos were well-exposed, with pleasing colors, and minimal purple fringing. The bad news is that overzealous noise reduction tends to blur fine details such as grass, leaves, hair, and roof tiles, and you can see this is nearly all of my sample photos.”

Sony W200CNET have reviewed the Sony W200, the first 12 megapixel camera on the market, which offers a 3x optical zoom lens, metal body, 2.5-inch LCD screen and an eye-level viewfinder.

“However, when it comes to image-related performance and image quality, the W200 tanks, mostly because of that unnecessary 12-megapixel sensor. Though it’s physically larger than the 8-megapixel sensor in the W90, the pixels still must be insanely small. That’s the only reason I can think of for the W200 to be such a light vampire, simply incapable of exposing shots at ISO 100 that most snapshot cameras can handle without problem.”

Samsung S850CNET have reviewed the Samsung S850, which offers an 8 megapixel image sensor, 5x optical zoom, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes, continuous shooting and AEB.

“The S850 is an 8-megapixel, sub-$250 shooter with full manual exposure controls, giving frugal photographers plenty of settings to tinker with. Manual mode even has a convenient onscreen meter that tells you if your photo will be over- or underexposed, an extremely useful tool when tweaking all the settings by hand. Strangely, the camera doesn’t have a manual focus setting, forcing you to choose between center and multipoint autofocus. Manual focus would have been nice, but its absence is hardly a surprise; few, if any, low-end cameras offer manual focus.”

Fujifilm FinePix F40fdDigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the new Fujifilm FinePix F40fd camera, which offers 8.3 megapixels, 3x zoom lens, 300 shot battery life, Face Detection technology and support for both xD-Picture Card and SD card formats.

“The 8.3-megapixel Fujifilm FinePix F40fd has more resolution than its F-series siblings and proved through performance tests that its new 1/1.6-inch image sensor is worthy of the hype; it kept noise to a minimum and resolution to a maximum. Pictures were sharply focused and properly exposed with the help of the face detection auto focus system and the vast ISO range. Great-looking pictures are priceless, but the vehicle to get those pictures only retails for $299. The F40fd doesn’t have manual control or even a decent burst mode but will suffice for consumers who want an automatic point-and-shoot to snap great pictures.”

Panasonic DMC-FZ8DIWA member LetsGoDigital have just reviewed the new Panasonic DMC-FZ8 camera.

“Despite our positive results, there is still some room for improvement. Although Panasonic has once more renewed the Venus Engine and is now at version 3, this processor is not able to iron out all the creases. Noise is still too dominant and although Panasonic has brought on the heavy artillery to deal with it, this has been at the expense of detail. There is no problem up to and including 400 ISO, but the higher ISOs do not contribute anything of much use.”

Panasonic DMC-FX30DigiCamReview have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-FX30, the world’s slimmest digital camera with a 28mm wide-angle lens.

“Images have good saturation and contrast, with fairly low noise at the lower ISO settings. The higher ISO settings of ISO400 and above are probably best avoided as detail is lacking from images. Indoors photos were good, although noise was noticeable in some shots and red-eye occurred occassionally.”

Panasonic DMC-FX12CNET have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-FX10 digital camera which offers a 3x optical zoom (35-105mm) Leica DC lens with f/2.8, 2.5 inch LCD screen, optical image stabiliser and Intelligent ISO Control, plus ISO 1250 at full resolution.

“Image quality is pleasing, especially at lower ISOs. Colors look accurate, though perhaps a bit oversaturated, and the automatic white balance does a good job of neutralizing colors in most lighting conditions, including incandescent settings. Exposures are generally accurate, though occasionally underexposed, which is generally better than the opposite, since shadow detail tends to be more salvageable in image editing software than highlight detail.”

Kodak C613Kodak are planning to leave the low-end digital camera market, instead concentrating on CMOS sensors for camera phones. In an article on CNET’s Crave website, Kodak revealed that they will release a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor for use in Motorola camera phones and their own camera. “We’re going to be abandoning the low-end of the digital camera business. As everyone knows, we’re not making much money there. Now we have our own CMOS sensors, so you might see us going down in price because we can make money,” said Kodak President Antonio Perez.

Sony H9Megapixel.net have just reviewed the 15x zoom Sony H9 digital camera.

“The Carl Zeiss lens, albeit a prestigious name, appears to be not well-suited to the H9’s CCD. The widest angle of the zoom yields images that easily go out of focus on the edges of the frame, and which show purple fringing — a chromatic aberration that is not uncommon with digital cameras — on the edges of contrasting areas. Past the widest angle, the image sharpness improves in the corners, but purple fringing remains a possibility when there are contrasting image elements.”

Sony T100PCMag have reviewed the new Sony T100 camera, which has a 5x optical zoom lens and 3-inch LCD screen, with red, black and silver colours available.

“Sony’s various point-and-shoot cameras generally have three things in common: They have exquisite product design, take pictures of excellent quality, and are overpriced. The 8.1-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100 is no exception. That it possesses the first two qualities I mentioned nearly made it an Editors’ Choice winner, but the steep price ($399.99 direct) knocks it out of contention.”

Sony H9CameraLabs have just reviewed the 15x zoom Sony H9 digital camera.

“Heading the worryingly long list of downsides though is image quality. Set the H9 at 80 or 100 ISO and you can take some great-looking photos, but at 200 ISO and above, smearing from noise reduction really begins to take its toll.
