Fujifilm FinePix A600 ZoomCNET have reviewed the Fujfilm FinePix A600 Zoom, which features a Super CCD sensor, 6.3 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens and 2.4 inch LCD.

“As a budget point-and-shoot, the A600’s features don’t exactly stand out. The 6-megapixel Fujifilm SuperCCD sensor is complemented by a mundane 36m-to-108mm-equivalent lens. It lacks image stabilization, so the most you can do for low-light or high-speed shooting is turn on the flash and bump the sensitivity up to its maximum of ISO 400. The camera includes an anemic video mode that records QVGA (320 x 240) footage at 10fps, little better than most camera phones’ video modes.”

Sony Cyber-shot S600Megapixel.net have published a review of the budget 6 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot S600 digital camera.

“This said, the Sony DSC-S600 represents real value for money, and should enjoy a great deal of well deserved interest at this time of the year when the holidays are fast approaching. While some savings have been made to position the S600 at this price point, in our opinion the image quality was not sacrificed. Indeed, shots captured with the camera and printed out to a 7 x 9.4-inch size (18 x 24 cm) at 300 dpi have nothing to envy comparable photos produced by much more expensive models.”

Nikon Coolpix S7cTrustedReviews have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix S7c, which offers 7 megapixels, a 35-105mm lens and electronic Vibration Reduction.

“Well it’s certainly got style, and plenty of it. Like most Nikon cameras, the build quality is impeccable. The S7c has an all-metal body finished in an attractive matt black with chrome trim, and has a nicely understated design. The body has a wave-like shape, with a smooth curve running the length of the front panel and reprised on the left-hand trim. The camera is thinner towards the right hand end, although it flares out again right at the edge, obviously intended to provide a handgrip.”

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX3Imaging Resource have reviewed the 6 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX3, which features a LEICA DC lens with image stabilizer and an ISO 1600 High Sensitivity Mode.

“The Panasonic FX3 produced consistently good results in images shot in adequate lighting conditions with crisp—though not oversaturated—color, accurate skin tones, and excellent sharpness. The camera’s Leica-branded lens was able to capture a lot of subtle detail. I’ve always had good luck with the Macro mode on Panasonic’s cameras, and the FX3 was no exception. When capturing close-ups of flowers, the camera had no problem finding focus.”

Samsung NV3Imaging Resource have just reviewed the 7 megapixel Samsung NV3 digital camera.

“I confess, it had me from hello. The Samsung NV3 looks like the love child of a Leica and an iPod nano, educated in all the best schools; and, man, can she dance. I just couldn’t get the NV3 out of my mind. It takes pictures, sure, but it’s also an MP3 player. Kind of a no-brainer when you think about it. But Samsung took that a little further, making the Samsung NV3 a Media Player and Text file reader, too. In fact, you can listen to music while shooting 3 megapixel pictures or reading text on the NV3—or playing a slide show.”

Fujifilm FinePix S6500fdFujifilm UK Press Release

6 November 2006 - Fujifilm’s range of digital cameras featuring its new Face Detection technology were the focus of its stand at this year’s Photokina trade show in Cologne, and the company is predicting strengthened Christmas sales thanks to reactions from industry and consumers alike. Photokina 2006 was Fujifilm’s first chance to gauge reaction on such a mass scale to its FinePix S6500fd and F31fd Face Detection cameras, which were the first ever to feature the technology hard-wired to the processor, making it much faster and much more powerful than other, software-based offerings. A dedicated Face Detection area on the stand drew in crowds of people with an outward-facing plasma screen connected to the FinePix S6500fd to capture people’s faces as they approached. Once on the stand, visitors could try the technology for themselves with interactive displays designed to highlight the benefits of a Face Detection enabled camera.

Canon PowerShot G7Luminous Landscape have reviewed the new Canon G7, which features a 10 megapixel, 1/1.8 inch sensor, DIGIC III image processor, Face Detection, 35-210mm lens and optical image stabilization system.

“Overall I was very impressed with the Canon G7. It does a lot of things right within the context of its price, size and its likely intended constituency. Unfortunately a consequence of being a JPG-only camera is that too many technical decisions need to be made prior to shooting. Things like colour balance, saturation, sharpening, etc all get baked into the file, and the ability to recover burned-out highlights (which raw files provide) is lost when all you have is a JPG.”

Canon PowerShot A710 ISImaging Resource have reviewed the new Canon PowerShot A710 IS digital camera.

“It’s remarkable how quickly image stabilization has, as a feature, propagated. You see it on digicams with even modest zoom ranges because it permits two to three stops more natural light shooting. Its popularity is the direct inverse, I think, of the aggravation everyone has expressed about red-eye. It is, in fact, the perfect antidote to red-eye. Turn off the flash and use image stabilization with the Canon A710.”

Fujifilm FinePix S6000fdDCResource have reviewed the the Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd (also known as the S6500fd), a 6 megapixel digital camera with a 10.7x zoom lens equivalent to 28-300mm.

“Camera performance is very good in most areas. The camera starts up very quickly (since it has no lens to extend), and focus times were good, even at the telephoto end of the lens. Low light focusing was very good as well, thanks to the S6000’s AF-assist lamp. Shutter lag wasn’t much of a problem, and the shot-to-shot speeds of 2/4 seconds (JPEG/RAW) were good, but not great. While not best in class, battery life on the S6000 was still better than average. The one real weak spot in terms of performance are the camera’s continuous shooting modes. While the 2.4 frame/second frame rate is not, the 3 shot maximum is disappointing.”

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX2Steves Digicams have just reviewed the new 10 megapixel Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX2.

“Image quality is one of the most important factors when considering a digital camera. Luckily, the LX2’s 10-megapixel results were good. Unlike your average digicam, you can choose from a variety of image sizes as well as aspect ratios. When selecting different ratios, the maximum resolution will change: 4:3 = 7.5- megapixels, 3:2 = 8.5-megapixels and 16:9=10-megapixels. This great deal of versatility ensures that there is an image size choice for just about every user, no matter what the application may be.”

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX3Steves Digicams have the first online review of the 6 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX3, which features a LEICA DC lens with image stabilizer and an ISO 1600 High Sensitivity Mode.

“Image quality was average for a 6-megapixel consumer model. The Leica 3x optical zoom offers a typical zoom range of 35 - 105mm (in 35mm equivalence.) The field of view at the 35mm wide angle extreme is sufficient for landscape and group portraits, while its telephoto capabilities work great for close up portraits; just don’t expect to bring distance subjects up close. Overall, it helped the FX3 produce sharp images throughout the zoom range, with moderate barrel distortion at full wide angle and slight pincushioning at the telephoto extreme.”

Samsung Digimax S600ThinkCamera have the first online review of the budget 6 megapixel Samsung Digimax S600 camera.

“Our advice is forget about A3 prints. If you stick to printing at 6 x 4 and even a 5x7 you’ll get admirable quality pictures. Enter into the digital zoom area and image quality is noticeably poorer. Our advice is to stay away from digital zoom and this is especially true S600. DigiCamReview.co.uk have reviewed the Polaroid i1032, a budget 10 megapixel digital camera with 3x zoom lens and 2.4 inch LCD screen.

“Exposure can be hit and miss with this camera when outside on bright sunny days, it can however produce some excellent colours, and very good macro photos on duller days. Purple fringing was quite bad in high contrast areas near picture corners, and will become more noticeable, on prints larger than A4. This is a lens quality issue, which becomes more exaggerated the higher the resolution of the picture. The camera was generally competent at focusing. I noticed slight barreling but no pincushion distortion. There is a good range of image sizes, and compression options, and a choice of two aspect ratios. Auto white balance seemed to be good. The camera gives you good options to customise images - there are three sharpness and metering settings and full manual exposure, for example. The more experienced photographer should find the manual options quite useful. The camera will display a shaking hand, to warn you could end up with blurry pictures, especially in low light, or when using the zoom.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50PCMagazine have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 announced today, which features a 3 inch, 230,000 pixel LCD touch-screen.

” This looker has a stunning design, comes in fantastic colors—the one I reviewed is a deep crimson—and sports a huge, 3-inch touch screen on its back. Generally, the camera performs quite well, but I found a few issues. Despite the company’s claims of great low-light picture quality without using a flash, I found the images I took under these conditions to be just average. And then there’s the price ($499.95 direct), which is too expensive, even for a stylish ultracompact.”

Fujifilm FinePix F30 ZoomFujifilm USA Press Release

FUJIFILM U.S.A. has lowered its prices for the FinePix F30 and FinePix F20 digital cameras to $329 and $229, respectively.

The FinePix F30 broke new ground in digital photography earlier this year when it became the first compact camera to capture full-resolution images at ISO 3200. Such high light sensitivities translate to more natural looking pictures and outstanding low-light performance. It also means Picture Stabilization in a more traditional way with the high sensitivities matched with faster shutter speeds for less blurring due to camera shake and subject movement.

Light sensitivity of the FinePix F20 tops out at ISO 2000, and the camera shares many features with the FinePix F30, including a 2.5 inch LCD, the i-Flash system and a unique-to-Fujifilm Dual Shot mode that takes and stores two pictures in immediate succession – one with the flash and one without.

Casio EX-Z1000DIWA member Digit.no have reviewed the Casio EX-Z1000 compact digicam, which offers 10 megapixels, 2.8 inch LCD screen, and IS0 3200.

“Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 is one of the most attractive mini cameras available. Beautiful design and elegant finish in a robust stainless steel body is the optimum base for building a good camera. Unfortunately, Casio have failed to maintain this excellent quality throuhout the process. For marketing reasons, they have fallen into the same pit as too many others, concentrating too much on megapixels and other sales promoting features rather that image quality. The lens suffers from considerable colour fringing, distorsion and lack of edge sharpness. It is also unable to define 10 MP resolution, making this fine camera delivering only 7 MP images in 10 MP files. What a waste! Furthermore, to meet other hot topics in todays camera market; image stabilisation and high sensititvity, Casio have pushed the limits beyond the conceivable. All ISO values above ISO 400 is practically worthless, either due to excessive image noise or lack of detail. My advice would be to leave the camera body unchanged, but replace its lens and interiour with optimised 7 MP components, rather than overambitious specifications with no other mission than to fool the public.”
