Nikon Coolpix P3DIWA member Photoxels have the first online review of the new Nikon Coolpix P3 camera, which offers 8.1 megapixels, 3.5x optical zoom lens and a 2.5 inch LCD.

“The Nikon Coolpix P3 is quite a camera, with a very effective Vibration Reduction (VR) technology (Nikon speak for Image Stabilization) and no-hassle Wi-Fi wireless transfer of your images from camera to PC. Though it does not offer total exposure flexibility, it does give more experienced photographers Programmed Auto and Aperture-Priority modes. Add to that already very attractive mix Manual AF area frame and corresponding Spot AF area metering, AF-assist Illuminator, auto exposure bracketing and auto WB bracketing, Best Shot Selector, and many other practical features, and you have a very performing digital camera in a compact body.”

Fujifilm FinePix S5600 ZoomImaging Resource have published a review of the Fujifilm FinePix S5600 Zoom (also known as the S5200 in the US), a 5 megapixel compact digital camera with Fujifilm’s new 5th Generation Super CCD HR sensor with Real Photo Technology.

“Fujifilm’s greatest success has been in creating good-quality midrange cameras that sell at very competitive prices, and the new Fuji S5200 aims to continue that success. A couple of years ago, Fuji introduced long-zoom digicams at affordable price levels with their FinePix 2800 and 3800 models. Now, the Fuji S5200 advances the cause even further, with a 5.1-megapixel CCD (up from the S5100’s 4.0-Mp CCD), a 10x optical zoom lens, and a host of exposure modes and features. While it still sports a fully automatic mode, the Fuji FinePix S5200 goes beyond basic “point & shoot” capability with Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual modes, as well as a few Scene modes. The Fuji S5200 offers very long-zoom capability and greater exposure control at a surprisingly affordable price.”

Olympus mju 700DIWA member Steves Digicams have reviewed the new Olympus Stylus 710 (also known as the mju 700 in Europe), a 7.1 megapixel camera with 3x zoom, 2.5 inch LCD and a weatherproof body.

“The 710’s ergonomics are excellent. This is a durable model that has a well built feel to it. The very compact size allows it to be carried in almost any size pocket or purse. But, its unique “wedge” shape still offers a comfortable feel, with the right hand side being “fatter” for an easier grip. The various controls laid out across the back of the body are well placed and functional, with your thumb falling over them naturally.”

Canon Digital IXUS WIRELESSTrustedReviews have just reviewed the Canon PowerShot SD430 (also known as the Digital IXUS WIRELESS), which features automatic wireless image transfer, wireless control of camera shooting functions from a PC and ships with a wireless print adapter.

“Of course the camera’s big party piece is its wireless connectivity. As features go I’m still not sure it’s that useful, but I have to admit I was very impressed by how easy it was to set up. I experienced some slight technical difficulties when I tried the Nikon P1, but with the IXUS Wireless it was simply a matter of installing the supplied software, connecting the camera via the USB lead to set it up to talk to my computer, and then the wireless link was established.”

Olympus mju 700DigitalCameraReview have the first review of the new Olympus Stylus 710 (also known as the mju 700 in Europe), a 7.1 megapixel camera with 3x zoom, 2.5 inch LCD and a weatherproof body.

“The Stylus 710 is actually pretty tiny, regardless of how it looks in pictures. It’s easily pocketable and I have no worries about damaging the camera while it rides in a shirt or pants pocket. The metal body has 24K gold plating covered with a platinum alloy that resists scratches. It’s a very sturdy camera, as is expected from a Stylus camera. I found the camera hard to hold—it just never felt “at rest” in my hand. I think the biggest contributor to my discomfort was that it always felt like it would just slip out of my hand. There was no grip or physical feature of the camera that solidified my grip. This may not be an issue for everyone so, as always, try it out before you buy.”

Panasonic DMC-LX1PCMagazine have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-LX1, an 8.4 megapixel digital camera with a 4x Leica optical zoom lens equivalent to 28-112mm, optical image stabilizer and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.

“If you’re looking for a compact landscape shooter, consider Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-LX1 ($599.95 direct). Although it’s not a perfect all-around camera, it gets big props for being the first digital camera with a true 16:9 CCD. Other cameras can shoot at this aspect ratio, but they achieve the result by cropping, reducing the number of pixels in the image. The LX1 is the first camera of its kind with a true 16:9 CCD. As a result, you get the full 8.4MB of information in every panoramic shot. Still, the images show more noise than we’d like from a $600 camera, and the camera isn’t particularly speedy.”

Sony Cyber-shot S600Imaging Resource have published a review of the new, budget 6 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot S600 digital camera.

“The Sony DSC-S600 is a recent entry-level model in Sony’s highly popular line of subcompact digital cameras, featuring a very pocket-friendly design. Offering a high-resolution 6.0-megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a nice range of seven preset Scene modes to choose from, the Sony S600 is a capable, yet very compact, digital camera. Built into the S600 is a bright 2.0-inch LCD monitor for accurate framing, as well as a handful of creative shooting options. The Sony S600 is an excellent option for rank beginners and more experienced users alike, a great “pocket” camera to pack along when there just isn’t room or time to accommodate a larger or more complex model.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7DigiCamReview have reviewed the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 which combines a 12x optical zoom lens with MEGA O.I.S. in a compact body.

“Noise is higher than average at every ISO setting with the Panasonic Lumix FZ7, so it’s best sticking with ISO80 or ISO100 for the best results. If you are likely to resize photos for the internet or print small 6"x4” photos then going upto ISO200 may be useful. The high ISO modes, ISO800 and ISO1600 produce noise free images, but detail is so blurred as to make the images look very poor. Noise is much higher on the FZ7 than on the Olympus SP-500 upto ISO400, where noise levels appear quite similar, the FZ7’s noise is much more blotchy - whereas the SP-500’s noise seems much more fine grained and consistant.”

Sony Cyber-shot S600CNET have published a review of the new, budget 6 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot S600 digital camera.

“The chunky, 6.7-ounce Sony Cyber Shot DSC-S600 offers remarkable flexibility despite its bargain price. Its 6-megapixel resolution and moderately wide 31mm-to-93mm (35mm-film-camera equivalent) lens, in conjunction with pretty decent low-light photos and extended shutter-speed latitude in moderate light, combine to produce a point-and-shoot camera with enough versatility to handle most picture-taking situations.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5DCResource have reviewed the new 6 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 camera.

“Photo quality was a mixed bag on the DMC-LZ5. On the positive side, photos were well-exposed, with vibrant colors, good sharpness, and minimal purple fringing. The biggest downside is noise, in addition to the vignetting and soft corner issues that I just mentioned. Noise is noticeable in most of my sample photos (most of which were taken at ISO 80), especially on flat surfaces, details like grass and leaves, or in the sky (which looks mottled). Now, this noise isn’t going to be a problem if you’re making smaller prints (4 x 6 or 5 x 7), but if you’re doing larger prints (or just like to view your photos at 100% on your PC) then it may bother you.”
