The Leica Q-P builds on the critically acclaimed technical features of the Leica Q, now dressed in a stealthy yet elegant black body with improved tactility.

With its matte black exterior, subtle design and superior imaging performance, the Leica Q-P goes beyond simple cosmetic changes to improve ergonomics and tactile feedback for the user. The front-facing Leica red dot logo is omitted in favor of the classic script engraving on the top plate, making the front of the camera a simple all-black facade.

The shutter release button and power switch/drive mode selector has been redesigned; now more akin to those found on the Leica M10 and CL, each setting clicks into place with confidence even when going solely by feel and touch. The Leica Q-P is the “do-it-all” camera, with its simple button arrangement, compact-size, versatile prime lens and high-quality image results.

The Leica Q-P will be on sale beginning today in the US at Leica Stores, Boutiques and Dealers for $4,995.

The Leica Q-P is on sale from today in the UK for £4,100 including VAT. The camera comes complete with a carrying strap in the finest brown leather and an additional battery.

The new TinyMOS NANO1 is the world’s smallest astrophotography camera.

Successor to the TINY1 camera, which was launched in 2015, the NANO1 is a third of the size and weight of its predecessor (less than 100g), yet it will be three more times powerful than the TINY1. This is thanks to a new 12 megapixel back-illuminated sensor that can also shoot 4K video.

In terms of lenses, the NANO1 features a dual mount system allowing the use of very small M12 mount lenses and larger more capable optics in the C mount format.

The TinyMOS NANO1 will be launched in Autumn/Fall 2018.

As if the new Zeiss ZX1 and the Zenit M weren't surprising enough, there's another intriguing new camera in town in the shape of the rather oddly named PIXII.

This appears to be a French initiative that's just soft-launched with an on-trend teaser-based website. Unfortunately, in this current age where seemingly every new photographic product is leaked, yes, you've guessed it, the full details of the PIXII have already been leaked, including their entire financial business plan, courtesy of Leicarumors.

Aimed at smartphone photographers looking for a more affordable camera to upgrade to, the styling of the new PIXII is certainly refreshing, coming across like a miniature rangefinder on steroids that uses Leica lenses, hence the rumour site coverage.

It remains to be seen if this two-man team can actually bring the PIXII to market after being in development for the last 3 years, but the launch of their new website certainly seems to suggest that they're getting closer to their goal. Bonne chance!

Update: PIXII have now released a press releases and official product shots of their new rangefinder camera (pictured above).

I've just arrived at the last press event at Photokina 2018. What have Carl Zeiss got up their sleeves? New lenses? A new camera?! Let's find out...

More than 300 people are attending "a very special occasion" - press, photographers, dealers and distributors.

Zeiss are truly committed to photography, and to their distributors. So first announcement of the evening - the Zeiss Distributor Award of the Year 2018! And the winner is...LStream from Russia!

Some really exciting new about Batis is coming...

There are four current Batis lenses in the range, two wide-angle and two telephoto, but there's something missing in the middle.

So Zeiss have officially announced the much-rumoured Batis 40mm f/2 CF lens for Sony Alpha cameras, which uses a Distagon optical design. The lens has a shortest shooting distance of 24cm, focus limiter switch, 67mm filter diameter, and 1:3.3 magnification.

The big announcement of the night, though, is the...wait for it...

Zeiss are launching an exiting new device that combines the image quality of a Zeiss lens with a smartphone. Shoot. Edit. Share. All on the same device.

Introducing the Zeiss ZX1. A 35mm, 37.4 megapixel full-frame mirrorless camera with a superb quality, newly developed 35mm f/2 lens that has no distortion even what shooting in RAW. The sensor is made by Zeiss in Germany. There's an EVF, a massive 4.3 inch touchscreen display, intuitive user interace, 512Gb SSD internal memory, and a slight bend to the aluminium body on the right-hand side for better ergonomics.

Zeiss are the first manufacturer to integrate Lightroom Mobile CC directly into a camera for ease of editing. That's right - onboard RAW editing via Adobe!

Sharing is the third element that Zeiss are addressing. You can instantly share on services like Flickr and Dropbox and update firmware over the air, so the camera is always up to date.

The Zeiss ZX1 will be available in early 2019. Price to be announced.

And that's a wrap. Time for the hands-on experience...

Want to see exactly what the new Kodak AZ1000 superzoom camera look like in the flesh?

Check out our hands-on gallery of photos of the Kodak AZ1000 superzoom camera, which was sadly a non-working model.

It boasts the world's second longest zoom lens of 102x, almost but not quite pipping the Nikon P1000 to that title, so it doesn't offer quite the same telephoto reach as the Nikon, being wider-angle instead (19.5-1989mm effective focal length).

The new Ricoh GR III 24 megapixel high-end digital compact camera is being previewed at Photokina 2018. Currently under development, the Ricoh GRIII inherits the basic GR-series concept, but it incorporates totally new devices in its main components, including a newly designed 28mm f/2.8 lens, a new 24.24 megapixel image sensor, and a new imaging engine.

The new sensor incorporates both a three-axis sensor-shift stabilization system and phase detection AF, neither of which the previous Ricoh GR II model offered, and the GR III will also feature a touchscreen LCD for the first time in the series. On the video side, 1080/60p is now supported (but not 4K) and there's a USB-C port.

The Ricoh GRIII is scheduled to be launched in early 2019.
