The Canon EOS 200D is the world’s lightest DSLR with the world’s fastest auto-focusing system. The new EOS 200D (also known as the EOS Rebel SL2) is billed as the perfect replacement for the avid smartphone photographer looking to step up to their first camera.

Canon today announced the Canon EOS C200, the latest addition to their Cinema EOS range. As the first Cinema EOS camera to support the new raw recording format – Cinema RAW Light – the EOS C200 provides the same flexibility in colour grading as Cinema RAW in a smaller file size, enabling filmmakers to record internally to a CFast 2.0 memory card. Newly developed Canon Dual DIGIC DV6 processors provide the ability to record internally 4K UHD/50P MP4, 4K DCI RAW and continuous 120fps High Frame Rate in Full HD without crop. At the same time, advances in Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus technology and a new touch screen LCD monitor provide smooth AF operation and effective tracking. Supporting up to 15-stops of dynamic range with Cinema RAW Light and up to 13-stops of dynamic range in MP4 (Canon Log / Log 3), the camera is capable of capturing both highlight and shadow details. An ISO range of 100 to 102,400 guarantees excellent performance, even in difficult lighting conditions, such as when quickly switching between locations. The built-in optical ND filters of up to 10 stops provide further flexibility and convenience. Integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity allows for browser remote control and the ability to transfer files via FTP. DJI and Hasselblad have introduced the World's first 100-megapixel integrated drone imaging platform. The flight platform for the combination is the DJI M600 Pro drone, an advanced and adaptable six-rotor flight platform equipped with the powerful Lightbridge 2 transmission system, a dustproof propulsion system and six Intelligent Flight Batteries. The M600 Pro can be guided by the D-RTK GNSS navigation system, which can withstand strong magnetic interference to provide highly precise centimeter-level 3D positioning. The on-board camera is the 100-megapixel Hasselblad H6D-100C, which features a 645 format sensor that offers outstanding detail, colour reproduction and tonal range even in poor lighting conditions. The camera mounts on the drone through the Ronin-MX three-axis stabilized gimbal, which uses powerful motors and inertial measurement units to resist high G-forces, maintain stability and hold the horizon. The M600/Ronin-MX/H6D-100c platform is on display through April 27 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, in DJI booth #C2807 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The combination will be released in the third quarter of 2017 at a price to be announced later.

Canon today announced the availability of a feature upgrade for the EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera that will add the ability to record with Canon Log. With this upgrade, the EOS 5D Mark IV can achieve a cinematic look similar to what can be achieved using Cinema EOS cameras. Current EOS 5D Mark IV camera owners can have the Canon Log feature upgrade installed for $99 at any of the Canon service centres starting in July. The camera will also be available for sale (body only) with the feature upgrade pre-installed starting in July, with an estimated retail price of $3,599.00.

Captured using a variety of lenses including the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR, the AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR, the AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED, the AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G ED, the AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR and the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR; these Nikon D7500 samples were shot at sensitivity settings ranging from ISO 100/21° to ISO 3,200/36°.

Nikon Japan have released a 4K sample video shot entirely on their newest digital SLR camera, the Nikon D7500. Entitled "In Search of Wonder," the official Nikon D7500 sample movie was created using a variety of lenses including the AF-S DX Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED (read review), the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR (read review), the AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G (read review) and the AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR (read review). Canon have announced that their interchangeable-lens digital cameras (digital SLRs and CSCs) have maintained the No. 1 share of the global market for 14 consecutive years from 2003 to 2016. In 2003, Canon introduced their breakthrough EOS 300D DSLR camera, which was competitively priced and quickly captured the top share of the global market. Canon has continued to launch a range of interchangeable-lens cameras including the professional-model EOS-1D series and the EOS 5D series which paved the way for digital SLR video recording. During 2016, Canon released the EOS 80D for advanced amateur users, the EOS-1D X Mark II for professionals, and the 4K-enabled EOS 5D Mark IV (pictured) for video enthusiasts. This month Canon celebrates 30 years of its EOS system. The company has invested a lot in the system over those years, launching almost 100 film and digital EOS cameras and over 100 EF lenses.

To mark the anniversary, Canon UK has held meet-ups to showcase EOS cameras old and new. Photography Blog was invited to an event in the Aldwych disused underground station in London for a hands on with one of the company’s latest EOS cameras, the EOS 800D. 

Canon is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the launch of its Electro Optical System (EOS), which includes EOS-series interchangeable-lens cameras and a diverse range of system accessories. The system debuted in March 1987 with the launch of the EOS 650 SLR camera and EF lenses, making EOS cameras the World’s first to incorporate an electronic mount system, representing a new generation of auto focus SLR cameras. Currently, the EOS system, including the Cinema EOS system, comprises 24 models with a selection of 97 EF lenses. To mark this milestone, Canon is displaying a range of cameras and lenses from the EOS archive on its stand at The Photography Show, including the EOS 650 and the EF 1200mm f/5.6L USM, the world’s longest focal length and largest aperture lens. Nikon have released a firmware upgrade for the Nikon D5600 digital SLR camera. Version C 1.01 fixes an issue that resulted in unreliable connections between the camera and the iOS 10.2 version of the SnapBridge app. You can download the firmware update from the website below.

Canon Japan have released 4 full-resolution sample images taken with the new Canon EOS 77D digital SLR camera. Captured using a variety of lenses including the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM; these Canon EOS 77D samples were taken at sensitivity settings ranging from ISO 100/21° to ISO 400/27°.
