The new Kodak Zx1 is a compact digital camera that captures High Definition video. The Zx1 features 720p HD video at 60 or 30 fps, 2 inch LCD screen, weather-resistant design and easy uploading to YouTube. The Kodak Zx1 will be available in five colours (black, red, pink, blue and yellow) from Spring 2009 for $149.95. UK pricing and availability still to be confirmed.

The new Flip MinoHD from Pure Digital is the world’s smallest high definition camcorder. The Mino HD can record up to 60 minutes of 720p HD video on 4GB of internal memory and features Flip Video’s new FlipShare software. “Consumers have embraced Flip Video because it delivers on the promise of making video simple, affordable, and fun,” said Jonathan Kaplan, Pure Digital’s chairperson and CEO. “Flip MinoHD, along with our new FlipShare software, now make it easy for anyone to capture and share their stories in stunning HD quality.” The Flip MinoHD is available now for $229.99.

The Sanyo DMX-HD800 is a new slim high definition camera that can shoot both stills and videos. The Sanyo HD800 (also called the Sanyo VPC-HD800 in some regions) records 1280 x 720p movies and 8 megapixel still photos on a 1/2.5 inch CMOS sensor with a new ‘3-dimension Noise Reduction’ filter. “The DMX-HD800 has not only has it been designed to be sleek and stylish, but it now offers our unique three-dimensional digital noise reduction (3DDNR) filter, which allows clear, beautiful images with simple operation of a dual camera offering high resolution stills and HD videos in a single unit.” commented Hideki Toyoda of Sanyo. The DMX-HD800 will be sold in Japan starting from August 22, 2008, price to be announced.

The Kodak Zi6 is a new, pocketable 720p HD video camera. 720p high-definition video can be captured at 60 fps in the 16:9 aspect ratio, and can be quickly uploaded to YouTube using the built-in USB and software. The Kodak Zi6 is designed to operate at the touch of a button - there is no lens cap, dials to turn or settings to adjust. “Today’s connected consumers increasingly turn to video to express themselves and connect with others. The KODAK Zi6 Pocket Video Camera satisfies their thirst for an HD video camera that is simple to use and can go anywhere life takes them,” said Matthew Yarrow of Kodak. The price and availability of the Kodak Zi6 are to be confirmed.

The new Sony HDR-CX12 camcorder can record both full 1920x1080 HD video and 10 megapixel photos. The CX12 (called the HDR-CX11E in Europe) is also the first high-definition camcorder with both Smile Shutter and face detection technologies, and also features a Carl Zeiss 12x optical zoom lens and Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization. The Sony HDR-CX12 camcorder will be in stores early August for about $900.

The new Oregon Scientific ATC5K and ATC3K are hands-free, waterproof action cameras. There’s also a 10x optical zoom lens (38-380mm range), image stabilizer, 2.7 inch widescreen LCD screen, and simultaneous shooting of 4-megapixel still images and HD movie clips. The AgfaPhoto DV-5000Z is a new compact digital video camera that’s no bigger than most still cameras. The DV-5000Z features a Micron CMOS sensor with five megapixel resolution and videos are taken in 16:9 wide screen format. Up to four hours and 20 minutes of film in HD format can fit on an 8Gb SDHC memory card, plus there’s a 3x optical zoom and 2.5” rotating and pivoting LCD display. The new AgfaPhoto DV-5000Z will be available in Russia from the end of April at the recommended retail price of 249 Euro.

The new Sony HDR-TG1 Handycam is the world’s smallest full HD camcorder. Weighing 10 ounces and measuring 1.3-inches wide by 4.7-inches tall by 2.5-inches deep, the Sony HDR-TG1 can record 1920 x 1080 HD video and 4 megapixel digital photos. “This new model is a great example of our expertise in miniaturization, as well as advanced imaging technologies with features like face detection.” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. The Sony HDR-TG1 camcorder will ship with supplied accessories in May for about $900.

The Sanyo Xacti CG9 is a new MPEG-4 digital camcorder with 9.1 megapixel still image capability. The Sony Net-sharing CAM is a new pocket sized camcorder aimed at users of YouTube and other social networking websites. The Net Sharing CAM shoots video in the “web-ready” MPEG-4 recording format and 5 megapixel digital still photos. There is also a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom and a 2.4-inch color LCD screen. The Sony Net-sharing CAM will be available in September for about $200.

The Sanyo Xacti E1 is the world’s first waterproof camcorder. The E1 can record video and 6 megapixel stills under water to a depth of five feet for up to one hour at a time. The Sanyo E1 will be available in the USA in blue, yellow and white in mid-June 2007 for $499.99.

The new Sony Handycam SR8E, SR7E and SR5E are the smallest, lightest AVCHD hard disk camcorders from Sony, and also offer 6.1 megapixel still images.
