Serif have published a sneak peek video detailing what’s new in Affinity Photo v1.5, projected to be available in the Mac App Store in early autumn. New features include andvanced HDR exposure blending, a novel way to edit 360 degree images, an entirely new workspace for tone mapping, batch processing, focus stacking and macros. The Phottix Odin II TTL flash trigger is now available in Sony fit. Canon today introduced five next-generation Maxify wireless inkjet printers. The MAXIFY MB5420, MB5120, MB2720, MB2120 and iB4120 printers offer improved functionality, such as increased print speeds, management information base (MIB) support, and select models offer larger LCD screens. Leica Camera has today announced that the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH. is now available in a silver anodised version. This lens is characterised by extremely high contrast rendition – at maximum aperture and throughout the aperture range. The use of a floating element in its design ensures that this quality is also maintained at close shooting distances. Eight lens elements are employed to achieve this outstanding optical performance. Three of the lenses are made from glass types with anomalous partial dispersion or apochromatic correction, and two have a high refractive index. The Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 ASPH. (silver anodised) is scheduled to be available at the end of this month at a suggested retail price of £5,900.

A treasure trove of photographic memorabilia from brands including Leica and Nikon, will be offered as part of the Robert White Collection Sale, taking place at Bonhams on 19 September 2016. Jon Baddeley, Bonhams Global Director of Collectors’ Sales, said: “As one would expect from a man who made cameras and photography his life’s work, the pieces collected by Robert White are rare, of immense quality, and are of historical significance. The Samyang XEEN 135mm T2.2 is a new full-frame video-cine telephoto lens available in PL, EF, F, E, and Micro FourThirds fit. The winners of the Red Bull Illume sports photography competition will be revealed to the world at the Red Bull Illume 2016 Winner Award Ceremony in Chicago on 28th September. The event will be held at The Art Institute of Chicago, followed by a short stroll to Millennium Park where the images will be unveiled for the very first stop of the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour. The Top 55 images will all be displayed on life-sized 2x2m light boxes – showcasing the work in the glory it deserves. The exhibition will stay in Chicago until 9 October 2016 before the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour moves on to its next stop.

‘Impossible Instant Nights’ is a monthly event dedicated to all things instant photography, hosted at London gallery and members club Lights of Soho (35 Brewer Street, W1F 0RX). “These evenings provide an open inclusive forum for anyone with an interest in instant photography to share ideas and inspiration, while learning from experts in the field,” said Oskar Smolokowski, Impossible’s CEO. “We’re planning talks and workshops covering all aspects of the art form, based on a series of ever-changing themes.” The first event in the series takes place on Thursday, July 21st, with a talk by photographer Ray Liu. Ray will talk about how he created a series of stunning light trail shots when he took his Impossible I-1 instant film camera to the streets of London at night. Nikon have issued a firmware update for the Nikon D500 digital SLR camera. Version C1.02 addresses an issue that sometimes caused errors with certain UHS-II SD memory cards. "As we were able to confirm that these were read errors arising not in the camera but in the cards themselves, we addressed the issue with a work-around that switches temporarily to UHS-I mode when a card-side error occurs in UHS-II mode," the company said in a statement. "The camera switches back to UHS-II mode when turned off and then on again or when the standby timer restarts. Card-side read errors may still occur after the update, albeit very infrequently." Canon today announced its new Canon Connect Station mobile application for the Canon Connect Station CS100 device. The new app makes it easy to connect to the CS100 device from a compatible smartphone or tablet. Users simply connect to the same wireless network and open up the Canon Connect Station app to start browsing, uploading, and downloading images. They can also drag-and-drop images from their computer or select multiple images at a time. The application can save over 1,000 images at one time and easily identifies previously saved and stored photos, helping to eliminate duplicates stored on the Canon Connect Station CS100 device. Additionally, users can now edit album names and add comments using the mobile app. The new Canon Connect Station Mobile Application is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
