“Having been interested in photography for almost twenty years there have been many varied and interesting subjects, which have compelled me to capture them for all posterity. Choosing 15 images for this portfolio was a difficult choice. However, my final decision is to share with you a selection of images, which I have been working on this year 2004, a personal project, capturing the floral beauty of a typical English garden.”

“I am a travel photographer and enjoy capturing snapshots of people and places in a daily setting. These images will hopefully increase our understanding of each other. Sometimes just capturing shapes or light pattern yields beautiful images. A good photo tells a story or pleases your senses or both.”

Epson Stylus Photo R800 PrinterThe Stylus Photo R800 is a 7 colour, 5760 x 1440 optimised dpi inkjet printer that offers borderless printing at print sizes up to A4 and is aimed at the professional and amateur photographer. It uses UltraChrome Hi-Gloss pigment inks, which have previously only been used in the Epson 2100/2200 A3 printer. These pigment inks are archival quality, offering print life of over 80 years on certain papers. As if that wasn’t enough, Epson have also introduced Red and Blue inks, which create a colour gamut rivalling that of silver halide photos, and they have reduced the ink droplet size to just 1.5 picolitres. So is the Stylus Photo R800 the ultimate A4 photo printer? Read my review to find out.

Mike HulsebusThe 20th PhotographyBLOG Portfolio has been submitted by Mike Hulsebus.

“Not far from a district of large, fancy historic homes in Grand Rapids, Michigan a neighborhood is undergoing what is often called “urban revitalization”—in other words, it’s being torn down in favor of a new subdivision with a ritzier sounding name (MidTowne Village in this case). Most residents have already left their homes. In their absence, the neighborhood falls into further disrepair. One Habitat for Humanity home was gutted by Habitat workers for materials and now is little more than a wood frame filled with old insulation. Nearby, owners of another house couldn’t bear to sell what they saw as a piece of their heritage and instead decided to burn down their home.”

Mark IsenbergThe 19th PhotographyBLOG Portfolio has been submitted by Mark Isenberg.

Simply, “Simple Digital Photography” best describes my photography. The following images were created with an inexpensive 2 megapixel Canon A40 Point and shoot camera. This simplicity allows one to concentrate on the images themselves, not the mechanics of the camera. I wanted to demonstrate that no matter what type of digital camera you own, you can create striking images.

I have been interested in photography for most of my life, having earned my living as a photographer in the early 1970’s. I have recently returned to photography for personal enjoyment, rather than a profession. My best advice is, “Don?t be intimidated if you own a basic camera. Just look around you, photographic opportunity is everywhere”.

Rafael TorcidaThe 18th PhotographyBLOG Portfolio has been submitted by Paul Teixeira.

“This selection of portraits and other people pictures spans a period of 28 years and a variety of techniques; from 35mm film to digital captures. Most of these pictures were taken on assignment for magazines or newspapers, which defined the way I photographed the people portrayed. The pictures were either used to illustrate an interview/article or had to speak for itself on an editorial page.”

“In the mid 1980’s I started to work as a photojournalist in The Netherlands, Europe. After a couple of years I decided that written journalism would be nice for a change. That career move resulted in a consecutive 11 years of writing stories as a journalist, managing other journalists as editor in chief and getting new magazines in the stores as a publisher. About 1.5 years ago I decided to go back to my roots: photojournalism. Albeit not on a full time basis. Thanks to the digital era, I’ve rediscovered the joys of photography. I was never a big fan of dwelling in the dark room developing films and printing pictures. Nowadays I carry the Canon EOS 1D and Canon EOS 1D Mark II and no films. I’m loving it!”
