HP today announced the HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer as part of its new range of HP Photosmart TouchSmart printers. The HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer makes it simple to view, edit, create and personalise photos – without having to connect to a PC – by combining an easy-to-navigate menu on the printer’s HP TouchSmart control panel with an extra-large TouchSmart screen. Users can print images in whatever size they want up to 13 x18 cm, with or without borders. In addition, 30 editing and enhancing options from the HP Design Gallery, such as ‘pet-eye’ fix, ‘slimming’ feature, blemish removal and sepia tones, enable users to edit photos so friends and family look their best. Also, the HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer allows photos to be printed direct from Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. The estimated retail price for the HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer is €149 and it is expected to be available for purchase across Europe, the Middle East and Africa from October 2009.

HP today introduced a range of new HP Photosmart printers with unique HP TouchSmart touch-sensitive technology. The HP Photosmart C4680, HP Photosmart and HP Photosmart with Wireless, HP Photosmart Plus and the HP Photosmart Premium (pictured) are the latest products to complement the HP Photosmart series and come with a number of new features. The HP Photo Print Gadget allows users easily drag and drop photos to a desktop icon from virtually anywhere – folders, applications, e-mail and websites. Many of the printers in the new HP Photosmart series, including the HP Photosmart with Wireless, HP Photosmart Plus and the HP Photosmart Premium, have built-in wireless features. Apple iPhone or iPod touch users can enjoy wireless printing photos using the HP iPrint Photo application, the first of its kind available for free on the Apple App Store. The new HP Photosmart printers will become available in September/October 2009 with prices starting at €79/£79.99 depending on model.

The Kodak ESP 5250 and ESP 3250 are new All-in-One (AiO) printers which save an average of £75 a year on ink. Offering print speeds of up to 30 pages per minute in black and 29 pages per minute in colour, the Kodak 5250 and 3250 both feature colour LCD display screens, memory card slots, intelligent paper tray systems and a simple two-cartridge set-up. The Epson Stylus Pro 3880 is a new high specification professional A2+ photo printer. Now using Epson’s advanced, fourth generation UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta pigment inks, the Epson 3880 incorporates a special driver mode that allows users to create bespoke black tones and clear whites. All-new AccuPhoto HD2 image technology provides smoother color transitions and better highlight and shadow detail. Replacing the 3800 model, the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 will be available from October 2009 for £995. In the US the Epson 3880 will be offered in Standard and Graphic Arts Editiond (includes ColorBurst RIP) for $1,295 and $1,495 respectively.

Epson has launched the Epson Stylus Photo PX810FW, a high-end 4-in-1 Wi-Fi photo printer. Integrating fax capability with Hi-Definition photo printing, scanning and copying, the PX810FW is Epson’s flagship Wi-Fi, all-in-one for the home user. In addition to photo printing, it comes with a number of more general printing features. You can save paper by double-sided printing with the included duplexer. An automatic document feeder allows for convenient faxing, copying and scanning of multiple pages. The auto-selecting A4 and photo sized paper trays means that both A4 plain and photo sized paper is always ready for use, and the PX810FW also has the capacity to print directly onto suitable CDs and DVDs. The Canon PIXMA MP990 and MP640 are two new wireless all-in-one photo printers. Both the MP990 and MP640 use the ChromaLife 100+ ink system and have a maximum color resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi. The inclusion of a gray ink tank on the Canon MP990 helps produce superb black-and-white prints in addition to vibrant color prints. The PIXMA MP990 can also scan both film and slides. Epson has announced the Epson Stylus Photo PX650 high-definition all-in-one photo printer, scanner and copier. A 1200 dpi photo scanner captures the fine detail of original prints, whilst the Hi-Definition, dye-based Epson Claria Photographic Ink creates glossy photos with smooth gradations and a subtlety of tone that lasts for over 200 years, Epson claims. Canon U.S.A. has announced two new wireless PIXMA Photo all-in-one devices, the Canon PIXMA MP560 and the Canon PIXMA MP490. Both units utilise Canon’s FINE print head technology and offer the Auto Photo Fix II feature which resolves many common photo printing errors. The new PIXMA MP560 Wireless Photo all-in-one device (pictured) is the most compact Canon inkjet printer to have both wireless capabilities and built-in Auto Duplex Printing, and also is the first Canon PIXMA Printer to have the ability to print out pictures directly from a USB Flash Memory device. The new device has a 4.33” touchscreen that lets you browse Web pages and print maps, coupons, movie tickets, recipes, news etc. without the need for a PC. Epson has unveiled four new all-in-ones in its affordable Stylus NX line. These include the entry-level Epson Stylus NX115 ($69.99, pictured), Epson Stylus NX215 ($89.99), Epson Stylus NX415 ($99.99), and the flagship of the series, the Epson Stylus NX515 ($149.99). The Epson Stylus NX215 is apparently the industry’s first all-in-one at its price point with memory card slots and a 1.5-inch color LCD screen for standalone photo printing. The Epson Stylus NX415 boasts a 2.5-inch color LCD, claimed to be the largest at its price point, as well as card slots and PictBridge® support. The Epson Stylus NX515 is allegedly the fastest printer in its class (at least for printing black text in default mode) and offers Wi-Fi printing with a simple four-step setup process so users can print wirelessly. The prices quoted are estimated street prices. Availability is slated for June, but Amazon, BestBuy, Fry’s Electronics and Epson’s retail site are already taking pre-orders.
