LumeJet and its new ultra-high-quality print technology will make its UK debut at IPEX 2014 (24th-29th March,ExCel, London, Hall S2, Stand F175). "The LumeJet technology has been designed from the ground up to exploit the proven, continuous tone quality of Silver Halide (AgX) media and its extended RGB colour gamut," the company says. "This produces vibrant, smooth and colour accurate images." The first to product to incorporate LumeJet’s inkless Digital Print Head technology is the LumeJet S200 printer (pictured), which takes 305 mm photographic roll paper for page sizes up to A3 landscape double-page spread, full bleed, including trim – ideal for lay flat books.

The Fujifilm Instax Share SP-1 printer enables easy creation of Instax prints using images sent wirelessly from a smartphone. The unit measures 101.6mm x 42mm x 122.5mm, weighs in at 253 grams, and produces a print in 16 seconds using standard Instax Mini film for its output. Together with the release of the printer, Fujifilm is also unveiling a free Instax app that is compatible with iPhones and Android models. The Instax Share SP-1 will be available in the UK from early March, priced at around £140-£150.

Canon has announced the latest offerings in its lineup of PIXMA printers. The Canon PIXMA MX532 Wireless Office All-In-One, PIXMA MX472 Wireless Office All-In-One, PIXMA iX6820 Wireless Inkjet Business and PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet Photo models address the varying needs and budgets of personal and home office users. For crafting and creative project enthusiasts, the PIXMA iP8720 photo model delivers high-quality imaging output as well as a variety of creative tools.

The Canon SELPHY CP910 is a new compact photo printer with enhanced wireless capabilities. In addition to expanded and versatile connectivity features, this compact photo printer offers ultra-portability, advanced printer functionality, new creative applications and an improved user-experience.

The estimated retail price of the Canon SELPHY CP910 Wireless Compact Photo Printer is $99.99.

In the UK and Europe the Canon Selphy CP910 and CP820 will be available from January 2014 for £99 and £89 respectively.

Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America has announced its new, economical dye sublimation photo printer, the CP-K60DW-S. The Mitsubishi Electric CP-K60DW-S features a ribbon rewind function that is unparalleled in the industry, maximizing the number of prints per roll when switching between print sizes and/or print counts. This unique rewind function allows the CP-K60DW-S to print on an unused portion of the media, which helps users save money. “Unlike other printers in its price category, this new CP-K60DW-S rewind feature lets photographers use every inch of the ink ribbon media and still produce the best quality print for its price,” said Ed Najera, product manager, Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America. “It can add up to real savings.” The CP-K60DW-S will be available in November 2013 and will be shown for the first time in Booth #1211 at PhotoPlus, the largest photography and imaging show in North America, October 24-26, 2013, Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Canon has partnered with Norman Reedus, COMMON and Tyler Florence to deliver a three-city gallery series aimed at encapsulating an emotion and moment-in-time through the power of printed images. Within the framework of the Pixma Pro City Senses gallery experience, three celebrities hosted photography exhibitions in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Using the sensory triggers of touch, taste, smell and sound as inspiration, the celebrity hosts and photographers were tasked with bringing their iconic city to life through photographic prints displayed in each gallery. Once captured, the images were printed using Canon Pixma Pro printers, and displayed as 13-by-19 inch works of art.

In addition to the A3-capable XP-950 all-in-one device, Epson has introduced three new compact home inkjet printers. The Epson Expression Premium XP-510, XP-610 and XP-615 offer dual paper trays, double-sided printing and individual inks. The XP-610 and XP-615 also boast a 6.3cm smart-navigation touch panel and CD/DVD printing. All Expression Premium series printers come with Epson Connect, which allows users to quickly and easily print documents and photos over Wi-Fi from smartphones and tablets. In addition these multifunction printers are equipped with Wi-Fi Direct, allowing users to print from wireless devices without having to connect to a wireless router. The Expression Premium XP-615 and XP-610 are available from September 2013 and the XP-510 is available from October 2013, priced at RRP £149.99 and £129.99 respectively.

The Epson Expression Photo XP-950 is the first 6-colour photo all-in-one that offers A3 printing. Thanks to the rear speciality media feed, users can print onto a variety of media up to A3 size, while the two front-loading paper trays allow users to switch between photo and A4-sized media, without having to reload the paper during printing. This printer uses Epson’s Claria Photo HD ink, a six-colour ink set (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta), which delivers smooth tonal gradations, deep blacks and rich, vibrant colours. The Expression Photo XP-950 printer includes Epson Connect, which allows you to quickly and easily print documents and photos over Wi-Fi from smartphones and tablets. In addition the XP-950 is equipped with Wi-Fi Direct, which allows you to print from wireless devices without having to connect to a wireless router. The Expression Photo XP-950 is available from September 2013, priced at £349.99.

Canon today launched 3 new Web-connected All-in-One photo printers. The Pixma MG5550 (£109.99/€119.99) features a 6.2cm TFT monitor, the Pixma MG6450 (£139.99/€149.99) has a 7.5cm screen, while the Pixma MG7150 (£179.99/€189.99, pictured) boasts an 8.8cm touchscreen display with an Intelligent Touch System, which guides the user through the system. In addition, the Pixma MG6450 and MG7150 allow easy photo printing direct from a memory card. All three new models are Wi-Fi enabled, which allows them to connect to services via Pixma Cloud Link. This ensures seamless printing of photos and documents from popular services such as Picasa, Flickr, DropBox, Evernote and social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter. The new Pixma Printing Solutions app is compatible with all three devices and allows users to control their printer from virtually anywhere in the world via a tablet or smartphone.

Canon today  unveiled three new All-in-One inkjet printers. The Pixma MG2450 (£49.99/€59.99) and MG2550 (£49.99/€59.99) offer print, scan and copy functionality for home and office use. The Canon Pixma MG3550 (£69.99/€79.99, pictured) does all of the above and additionally features Wi-Fi connectivity, supports smartphone and tablet printing and is capable of producing "photo lab quality" prints. The new Pixma Printing Solutions app, which is compatible with the MG3550, allows users to control their PIXMA printer without the need of a PC.

Epson is launching a new range of "Small-in-One" devices featuring Wi-Fi Direct. The range consists of the Expression Home XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 215 and 212. These all-in-ones are all compatible with Epson iPrint2, which allows users to print wirelessly from smartphones and tablet PCs. In addition, the XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315 and 215 allow users to print from anywhere in the world, by emailing photos and documents directly to the printer’s unique email address. These printers are also Google Cloud Print ready. The XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 212 and 215 are available immediately, priced at £89.99, £79.99 and £69.99 respectively.

Canon today announced that its newest Pixma Wireless All-in-One Printer, the MG3520, is equipped with AirPrint wireless printing. This built-in feature allows users to print wirelessly from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The Canon Pixma MG3520 joins a growing range of AirPrint compliant printers (see full list). Note that AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPad Mini, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device. A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule is not supported.

Hahnemühle has partnered with Canon for a new programme called "Try My Photo." A limited-time offer exclusive to US residents, Canon's Try My Photo programme allows participants to see one of their favorite images printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag or Hahnemühle William Turner fine art papers, among others, using select Canon Pixma Pro series printers. Epson America has added a new "Small-in-One" device to its Expression line. This compact, sub-$100 Small-in-One allows mobile printing over Wi-Fi and uses instant-dry DURABrite Ultra pigment inks for smudge, fade and water resistant output. In addition to printing, the device also supports one-touch copying and scanning at up to 2400ppi. The Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One will be available later this month, priced at $99.99.

Canon has been awarded five honours by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). These include te Best Entry-Level DSLR (Canon EOS 100D), Best Expert DSLR (Canon EOS 6D), Best Video DSLR (Canon EOS 1D C, pictured) ,Best Professional DSLR Lens (Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM) and Best Expert Photo Printer (Canon Pixma Pro-10). “This is yet another strong showing from Canon in the TIPA Awards,” said Kieran Magee, Marketing Director, Professional Imaging, Canon Europe. “Such recognition from TIPA clearly demonstrates the level of quality and innovation that is present throughout our product range, from our consumer and amateur models to our professional line.”

Canon has posted a firmware update for the Canon Pixma MG6320 printer. According to the simultaneously released product advisory, Version 2.010 fixes a phenomenon where the touch screen on the printer “may sometimes not respond.” You can download the firmware update from the website below.

RCP-Technik has had to rename the recently announced Rollei iSY photo printer for legal reasons. The new name is simply “Rollei Photo Printer.” Available in two versions, with or without Wi-Fi, the Rollei Photo Printer is a dye-sublimation printer that can output prints of up to 10x15cm (4"x6”) from regular photos and up to 10x45cm (4"x18”) from panoramic images, at a resolution of 300dpi. The simpler version is available for €159.95. The Wi-Fi version retails at €179.95. Each printer comes with a starter cartridge.
