RCP-Technik has launched the Rollei iSY and iSY Wi-Fi photo printers that allow users to print their photographs directly from a smartphone, tablet or PictBridge compliant digital camera. Both models are dye-sublimation printers that can output prints of up to 10x15cm (4"x6”) from regular photos and up to 10x45cm (4"x18”) from panoramic images, at a resolution of 300dpi. The Rollei iSY Photo Printer will go on sale from mid-February for a recommended retail price of €159.95. The WiFi version will be available for €179.95. Each printer comes with a Rollei iSY 36 cartridge. Replacement cartridges - sufficient for 36 borderless prints in 10x15cm format - are priced at €13.99 each.

Canon has introduced four new all-in-one devices, the Canon Pixma MX395 (£59, pictured), MX455 (£79), MX525 (£99) and MX925 (£179). Replacing the existing Pixma MX375, MX435, MX515 and MX715/MX895, respectively,the new printers feature enhanced hardware, optional high yield XL cartridges and Canon’s My Image Garden software. The Canon Pixma MX455, MX525 and MX925 come with a range of connectivity features including support for printing from smartphones and tablets through Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint app for Android, iOS and Windows RT. Built-in Wi-Fi allows the printers to be easily shared between multiple PCs around the home or small office. The MX525 and MX925 both support Pixma Cloud Link, which includes Google Cloud Print support. Furthermore, the Canon Pixma MX925 comes with new double front paper cassettes that hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper and up to 20 sheets of photo paper, and boasts improved printing speeds. Availability is slated for March.

Canon has launched a range of new Pixma printers and an updated version of the CanoScan 9000F photo scanner. The Pixma MG6320 ($199.99) and MG5420 ($149.99) Wireless Photo All-In-One and Pixma iP7220 Wireless Photo printers feature a stylish and compact design, built-in wireless connectivity and smartphone/tablet support. The Pixma MG6320 and MG5420 incorporate individual dye-based colour and pigment black ink tanks which are part of the ChromaLife100+ ink system. Building on the success of the Pixma iP4920, the new Pixma iP7220 single-function printer ($99.99) has faster output speeds and is capable of producing a 4x6-inch borderless photo in approximately 21 seconds. Epson America has come up with a list of “gift ideas” for the holiday season. Naturally, the company is using the occasion to promote some of its newest products, including the Epson Expression Premium XP-800 printer ($279.99), MegaPlex MG-850HD projector ($799.99) and Epson Connect mobile printing solutions. “Whether you’re rocking around the Christmas tree, spinning dreidels or sharing a family holiday meal, chances are the fun and warmth of the holiday spirit will be captured on someone’s smartphone or tablet. Ilford has developed new ICC profiles to maximise printing results when using its Galerie range of inkjet papers with the latest Canon printers, including the Pixma PRO-100 and PRO-10 photo printers that replace the Pixma Pro9000 Mark II and Pixma Pro9500 Mark II models, respectively; and five new imagePROGRAF models. Designed for use by photographers, artisans, proofers and print for pay users, the iPF9400 (12-colour, 60-inch), iPF9400S (8-colour, 60-inch), iPF8400 (12-colour, 44-inch), iPF6450 and iPF6400 (12-colour, 24-inch) utilise Canon’s LUCIA EX pigment ink set, an enhanced multi-sensor and advanced printing technologies specifically developed to produce prints with an enhanced colour range and improved durability. Epson has introduced two new Wi-Fi enabled “Small-in-One” printers. The flagship Expression XP-800 comes equipped with a 30-page Auto Document Feeder featuring automatic two-sided copying, scanning and faxing, a 3.5” touchscreen with gesture navigation for easy setup and operation, specialty paper support through its rear paper feed4, and an auto-extend paper output tray that automatically extends any time the user hits print from a Mac, PC or iPad. The main difference between the two printers is the scanner resolution, which is 2400dpi on the XP-600 and 4800dpi XP-800, the printing speed (XP-600: 9ppm, XP-800: 11ppm) and the built-in Ethernet networking feature, which is only offered on the XP-800. The Epson XP-600 ($149.99, pictured) and XP-800 ($279.99) will be available in late-October through major retailer stores across the USA.

The stand offers practical application demonstrations of Epson products in use, including the company’s new digital dry lab, the SureLab SL-D3000. Faces of Photokina will also be a core theme for Epson during the show, where professional photographers will aim to take portrait photos of 1000 visitors to the Epson booth and display them as a gallery of images, which will be signed and stamped with Epson’s Digigraphie label.

Canon has added two new models to its Pixma Pro series of 13-inch inkjet printers. Built with the same quality of output and design as the flagship Pixma Pro-1 professional inkjet printer, these two models are claimed to produce excellent black-and-white and colour prints. The Canon Pixma Pro-10 printer (pictured) utilises a 10-ink tank system with LUCIA pigment-based inks to produce a wide colour gamut and exceptional print longevity on fine art and glossy paper. The printer employs three monochrome inks, including Matte Black, to generate deep, dark blacks when using fine art paper. The eight-colour, Canon PIXMA PRO-100 printer utilises the ChromaLife 100+ dye-based ink system to produce vibrant, saturated colours on fine-art and glossy papers. Three monochrome inks are included to help enhance black density and produce accurate prints with smooth tonal gradations. Canon has announced the upcoming launch of three new additions to its Pixma range of printers. Joining Canon’s All-in-One Photo printer range are the Wi-Fi enabled MG5450 and MG6350, which feature fast print speeds, the option of cost-saving high capacity XL inks, and enhanced connectivity for printing around the home. The Pixma MG6350 additionally. features an 8.8cm colour touchscreen and a 6-ink printing system (versus the more traditional 7.5cm display and 5-ink system of the MG5450) that combines with Canon’s Intelligent Touch System for easy and intuitive, light-guided touch operation. The similarly Wi-Fi capable Pixma iP7250 single-function printer has a 5-ink system, and features direct printing from tablet and smartphone devices. The entry-level Pixma MP230 (£44/€49) is an affordable printer with print, scan and copy functions, a stylish matte black design and compact footprint. The Pixma MG2250 (£49/€59) is a competitively priced all-in-one device featuring a seven-segment LCD display and Canon’s FastFront design. It can print 10x15cm borderless photos in approximately 44 seconds. The Pixma MG3250 (£69/€79) includes all the features of the MG2250 but offers faster print speeds, built-in Wi-Fi and a free smartphone and tablet app for printing photos and scanning. Epson UK has launched its Expression Home range – a series of compact models that deliver both high-quality, glossy photos and crisp, clear text. The Small-in-One line-up features the Expression Home XP-400 Series, XP-300 Series, XP-205, XP-202 and XP-102, allowing users to print, copy and scan. The Expression Home range also includes the Expression Home XP-30, which is Epson’s smallest ever single-function A4 printer. These printers use Epson’s new four-colour Claria Home Ink set, a new entry-level ink formulation that combines the durability of black pigment ink with the glossy colour photo output of dye-based cyan, magenta and yellow inks. The PermaJet Eco-Flo has been specially designed with moulded cartridges that simply slot into your printer in the usual way and stay in situ permanently. Canon has unveiled a new Wi-Fi enabled Compact Photo Printer called the Canon Selphy CP900. “The addition of Wi-Fi connectivity offers users the flexibility and convenience to print from a variety of situations without sacrificing the overall quality of the output,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. Canon today announced three Photo All-In-One printers – the PIXMA MG4220 Wireless, PIXMA MG3220 Wireless and PIXMA MG2220. Each new printer uses the FastFront feature for easy changing of ink and paper from the front of the printer and can also produce borderless edge-to-edge 4x6-inch photos in approximately 44 seconds at a maximum colour resolution of 4800x2400 dpi. A new feature for these affordable printers is My Image Garden software combining various tools to help consumers organise memorable photos and create new photo projects. Polaroid has unveiled the Z2300 instant digital camera, featuring a 10-megapixel imager, a 3-inch LCD screen and an integrated printer with ZINK (Zero Ink) technology. The camera uses Polaroid’s patented, 2"x3” ZINK Paper, an advanced composite material with cyan, yellow, and magenta dye crystals embedded inside.
