Fuji has launched its "HS-V5 for Windows Ver. 1.0" software which enables PC tethered shooting for the Fujifilm X-T1 and Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition. In Camera Mode, users hold the camera by hand or set it up on a tripod and adjust the settings on the camera itself, and the images shot are simultaneously transferred to the computer for display on the screen or saving on the PC. Adjusting exposure and other shooting settings or activating the shutter release are all carried out on the camera. In PC Mode, users can check the viewfinder image of a remotely-setup camera, operate the camera and adjust its settings on the PC screen, with all images taken simultaneously transferred to the PC for display on the screen or saving onto PC. All adjustments to exposure and other shooting settings or activation of the shutter release are carried out remotely on the computer. The application features an "image analysis" function with histogram, highlight clipping warning and EXIF data display, plus an "image assessment" function that displays two images side-by-side for comparison, and a "categorisation / organisation" function.

Tiffen has released version 4 of the multiple award-winning Tiffen Dfx digital filter suite. This update adds OFX plug-in support, making it compatible with the digital intermediate programs Davinci Resolve and Assimilate Scratch, as well as the high-end Nuke visual effects program from The Foundry. The program now also includes support for Sony Vegas NLEs as well as 12 new visual effects filters, 93 new historical photographic processes, 30 new motion picture film stocks, a "dramatic" speed increase in GPU acceleration, state-of-the-art floating point precision for a non-destructive workflow, and Retina display support for Mac. The Tiffen Dfx 4 film/video plug-in is available  for $499.95. The photo-ony version of the plug-in can be purchased for $149.95. The standalone version of Tiffen Dfx 4 is available today for $129.99.

Phase One today released Capture One 8.0.2. This update adds support for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite; lenses including the Zeiss Otus 55mm f1.4, the Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4, the Nikon AF-S Nikkot 20mm f/1.8G ED and the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro; and cameras including the Nikon D750, D3300 and P340, the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, the Leica T (Typ 701) and C (Typ 112), the Panasonic GM1, and the Samsung NX30.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7 is now available as a final release. The update adds support for raw image files generated by the Canon EOS 7D Mark II (pictured), Canon PowerShot G7 X, Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, Casio EX-100PRO, Fujifilm X30, Fujifilm X100T, Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver, Leaf Credo 50, Leica D-Lux (Typ 109), Leica M-P, Leica V-Lux (Typ 114), Leica X (Typ 113), Nikon D750, Olympus PEN E-PL7, Olympus STYLUS 1S, Panasonic DMC-CM1, Panasonic GM1S, Panasonic GM5, Panasonic LX100, Pentax K-S1, Pentax QS-1, Samsung NX1, Sony Alpha A5100 and Sony QX1 models. Digital Film Tools today released Film Stocks v2.0, Light v4.0, and Rays v2.0. In response to customer requests, Bleach Bypass, Cross Processing, Grunge, Three Strip and Two Strip Processes have been integrated into the Film Stocks v2.0 workflow. The Film Stocks user interface has also been upgraded with Retina display support for Mac as well as three new masking types: Path, Snap and Selection. Light v4.0 also benefits from a new user interface, as well as filter layering, seven masking types, GPU acceleration, Mac Retina display support and 1300 Rosco gobos. The Rays user interface has also been upgraded with Retina display support for Mac in addition to layering and seven masking types for photo plug-in hosts.

Fastcut from Magix is a new video editor optimised for action cams. The program allows you to automatically or manually edit your videos, and offers a wide range of thematic templates with fitting songs, cuts and transitions. Additional effects such as vintage look, tracking shots and slow-motion effects can also be added individually. You can minimise wind noise, correct skewed footage, remove lens distortions, adjust the colours and apply post-capture exposure compensation to backlit shots. Fastcut is available now online for a special introductory price of £39.99.

Today Wacom launched Dropzone and Control Room, two new cloud based services that offer fast and easy access to images and personal settings. Offering up to 2GB of free storage, Dropzone enables users to easily store and access their images on any computer or device, at any time. Control Room offers a storage service for individual Wacom pen, tablet and display settings, saving the user time on configuration when they want to use their familiar settings on a different device of the same type. Both Dropzone and Control Room are easy to use, free of charge and work independently from existing services or operating systems. Note that a Wacom Cloud account is required for both services.

Kwilt is a new iOS app billed as the first mobile application to automatically create a personal and complete live digital photo stream by seamlessly gathering users' digital images from Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Google+, Google Drive, Dropbox, iPads, iPhones and DLNA Ceritified servers. Bitpoem has released Exposure for  iOS, which allows the user to apply different effects to different parts of a picture. Using a patent-pending algorithm, the new app analyses the photo to identify individual objects in the scene. The user then taps or draws over an area of the image and Exposure selectively applies the effect on the area selected. Exposure also easily shares pictures with all the major social networks (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and others) and features an iOS 8 Photo Extension to help users edit their pictures in the most comfortable way possible. Exposure is available on iTunes for $1.99 / £1.49 / €1.49.

HDRsoft has launched Photomatix Essentials 4, a major upgrade to its high dynamic range imaging application aimed at enthusiast photographers. This edition introduces a new tone mapping method designed to give realistic looking results while preserving details in the highlights and shadows of the scene. It offers presets for one-click access to various styles, as well as manual control of the settings. Other new features include a Finishing Touch to increase contrast or sharpness of the final image before saving, the ability to undo and redo the HDR process with other settings, and an option to toggle between the original photo and a preview of the current one. Unified Color Technologies today announced HDR Express 3 – a significant upgrade to their photo enthusiast product, HDR Express. This edition offers significant improvements in both performance and image quality, including at in merge speeds and new alignment and de-ghosting algorithms. Additional improvements include new automatic and manual keyframe selection tools for de-ghosting with the option to preview the merge settings, and the ability to shoot bracketed exposure series of moving objects without the assistance of a tripod. The Manfrotto KLYPAPP is the first hands free photo capture app developed by Manfrotto. The application allows iPhone and KLYP+ users to take photos by simply clapping their hands; and enables them to enhance the colours, adjust the saturation, contrast, exposure and sharpness, as well as crop and flip the pictures before sharing them with their friends. Other key features include a night photography mode and a virtual horizon function. The KLYPAPP is available from iTunes for free, whilst the KLYP+ iPhone cases start from £24.95.

DxO Labs have released DxO OpticsPro 10, the new version of its flagship software. DxO OpticsPro 10 adds DxO ClearView, a new feature that eliminates atmospheric haze in a spectacular fashion. This new version also enhances the PRIME (Probabilistic Raw IMage Enhancement) denoising technology that can improve image quality of up to one full stop over the best noise reduction algorithms currently on the market. In addition, DxO OpticsPro 10 can now integrate DxO ViewPoint’s geometrical corrections. After the DxO ViewPoint plugin is activated, a dedicated palette lets photographers directly correct perspective problems and volume deformation in raw and JPEG images. DxO Labs have released DxO FilmPack 5, a major new version of its photographic film rendering application. This update adds 16 new high-fidelity film renderings including Adox CHS 100 II, Bergger BRF 400 PLUS, Foma Fomapan 100 Classic, Fujifilm Neopan 400, Ilford Pan 100, Fuji Superia X-Tra 400 (pictured), Kodak Portra 400, and Adox Color Implosion. Other novelties include a fully-redesigned user interface and added support for raw format in order to even more faithfully restore colours. Additionally DxO FilmPack 5 offers a new Micro-contrast tool that brings out relief as well as details in images. Using a multi-scale filter that blurs the details while preserving the marked contours in an image, contrast is visibly reinforced — ideal for increasing the intensity of a landscape photo or giving portraits a strong look, particularly in black & white. The software fixes even the most complex perspective problems, and easily restores the natural shape to subjects situated on the edges of images. As a plugin, DxO ViewPoint now integrates perfectly with DxO OpticsPro: its features are readily accessible in a new dedicated palette that brings together all of the tools for correcting perspective problems and volume deformation. Its interface has also been redesigned for the most comfortable possible user experience while still keeping the same visual tools as in the standalone application version (which allows for ultra-precise placement of anchor points). Photographers can then apply their corrections to any raw or JPEG image being processed. This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO ViewPoint who acquired a license on or after 1 August 2013.
