Megapixel.net have reviewed the Pentax K10D, which offers 10.2 megapixels, shake-reduction, dust removal system, 22-bit colour, three new shooting modes, 2.5 inch LCD screen and 11 point auto-focusing.
“The Pentax K10D is well-designed and this comes through very quickly when the camera is in hand. Controls are intelligently laid out, their position intuitive. In addition, the K10D is extremely capable. It is equipped with all the basic modes and adds a couple of interesting modes. The K10D has all the functions one expects from a high-end SLR: it can be user-customized for many functions, it has built-in stabilization that allows it to stabilize any Pentax lens; and it also provides a wide range of sensitivities, even yielding useable images at the highest part of that range. To boot, it is dust and moisture resistant, a claim few others can make.”

CES 2007: Toshiba has unveiled a 3 layer, 51GB HD DVD-ROM disc at the CES show in Las Vegas. The extended capacity disc can store up to 7 hours of high definition content. The new disc shares the same disc structure as standard DVD and previously announced HD DVD formats.

If we know where we are and we have an idea of where we want to be, it becomes a lot easier to determine the path from here to there and to take steps to get us there. Most of us have never given much thought to where we are in terms of skill, creativity and artistry, and even if we did, are not necessarily good judges of our own skills and levels so this is not a trivial process. While gradually and continuously striving to improve does in the end result in progress, I propose that we find a better and perhaps more direct route to becoming better photographic artists.”

“Indoors is where this little camera shines, except when needing the flash. These little cameras have tiny flashes and when using the zoom, you’ll be lucky to fully illuminate a subject 6 or 7 feet away. However, I found it did work very well when shooting portraits from about 4 or 5 feet. People shots showed sharp facial features, good flash exposure along with great natural skin tones. Portrait photography is one of the S7’s best uses.”

The new Fujifilm Finepix F31fd is an updated version of the popular F30, which is one of the best low-light digital compact cameras around. Fujifilm have added Face Detection technology to the F31fd, hence the addition of the “fd” initials. Face Detection allows the Fujifilm F31fd to automatically identify faces within the frame, focus correctly and take a picture.
