Fujifilm and Nikon are planning to examine the compatibility of their digital cameras and applications with Windows 10. Specifically, Fuji are testing their X series cameras and all FinePix models launched since 2010, plus a suite of computer programs including MyFinePix Studio, PC AutoSave, the Tethered Capture Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Tethered Shooting Software HS-V5 for Windows, and RAW FILE CONVERTER EX 2.0 powered by SILKYPIX. Nikon are planning to check the compatibility of 13 software applications and codecs (see below).

Toshiba today announced the development of the world’s first 16-die stacked NAND flash memory utilising Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology. Claimed to provide the ideal solution for low latency, high bandwidth and high IOPS/Watt in flash storage applications - including high-end enterprise SSDs -, this new flash memory achieves an I/O data rate of over 1Gbps. The prototype will be shown at Flash Memory Summit 2015, to be held from 11-13 August in Santa Clara.

Tamron have just released the new 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC lens. Billed as the World's lightest superzoom lens in its class, the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC weighs in at a mere 400 grams, allowing for greater portability than any of its predecessors. Featuring 16 elements in 14 groups, the 18-200mm VC uses an LD (Low Dispersion) lens element to minimise chromatic aberrations, and boasts the manufacturer's Vibration Compensation technology, which allows photographers to take sharp hand-held shots at shutter speeds that are critically slow for the focal length used. Phase One Industrial has introduced the iXU-R camera series for aerial applications. DJI today released their most affordable video drone to date - the DJI Phantom 3 Standard. Designed specifically for first-time pilots, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard includes intelligent flight functions that make cinematic shots easy to capture. The AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR is a new super telephoto zoom lens for Nikon's FX-format digital SLR cameras. The optical construction featurs 19 elements in 12 groups (including three ED glass elements) and a 9-bladed iris diaphragm with electromagnetic aperture control for maintaining consistent exposures during high-speed continuous shooting. The lens has a close-focus point of 2.2m (measured from the sensor plane), and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:4.5. Corel have released Version 2.2.1 of AfterShot and AfterShot Pro. This update adds raw image file support for 10 new cameras, including the Fujifilm X-T10, X-Q1, X-Q2 and X-A2, the Samsung NX30 and NX300, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 II (pictured) and XZ-10, plus the Nikon D5500 and D7200. In addition to the new cameras, AfterShot Pro 2.2.1 also includes a variety of usability improvements based on our users’ feedback.
