Canon has released an updated version of its Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. DPP 4.1.50 adds support for the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 70D, EOS 7D Mark II (pictured), EOS 7D, EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 700D and EOS 100D dSLR cameras and the recently launched EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM and EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lenses. The update also delivers faster adjustments, an improved raw image file workflow, enhanced highlight and shadow recovery, compatiblity with 64-bit native environments, and much more. Version 8.1 incorporates the following feature enhancements: incremental camera controls, up to sixteen adjustment layers, additional TIFF processing options, LiveVIew support for select models of Sony cameras, the ability to edit images in external applications, and much more. UK-based Torquing Group has tapped Lantronix to provide secure, onboard Wi-Fi technology for its new ZANO nano drone, an aerial photography and HD video capture nano platform. The hand-sized ZANO utilises the Lantronix xPico Wi-Fi module to provide secure and direct connectivity to both iOS and Android devices, which enables users to communicate with and control the ZANO. Utilising a smartphone or tablet, users can either direct ZANO or set the intelligent nano drone to automatically follow the user and capture photos from a fixed distance. A multitude of sensors work seamlessly together to allow ZANO to avoid obstacles, hold its position, and know exactly where it is in conjunction with a smart handheld device, at all times. The companies will showcase the product during the 2015 International CES from 6 - 9 January 2015 at booth 25621 in LVCC, South Hall 2.

Profoto has launched an online teaser campaign. Featuring the letters H and S, the mysterious ads have popped up on the company's official blog and Facebook fan page along with the question 'Could It Be?' The consensus among commenters and industry insiders seems to be that Profoto is set to launch a new mains flash boasting High-Speed Synchronisation (HSS) to compete with products such as the Phottix Indra500 TTL Studio Light. According to the adverts, the new Profoto offering will be launched tomorrow, 15 December 2014.

Kenro has announced the UK availability of two new Braun action cameras. The Braun Jumper 720p ActionCam HD (£49.50) is a 5-megapixel model capable of recording HD videos. The camera incorporates a 90-degree ultra-wide lens and a built-in microphone, and comes with a waterproof housing (up to 3m). The battery recharges via USB and lasts up to 70 minutes. The other camera (Braun Champion Full HD ActionCam, £110.22) shoots 1080p videos and features a 120°, f/2.9 lens as well as a 5-megapixel CMOS imager. Adobe has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fotolia. Founded in 2004, Fotolia currently operates in 23 countries and has websites in 14 languages. The service will be integrated into Adobe Creative Cloud, providing current and future Creative Cloud members with the ability to access and purchase over 34 million images and videos. “The acquisition of Fotolia will reinforce Creative Cloud’s role as the preeminent destination for creatives,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Digital Media, Adobe. “Creative Cloud is becoming the go-to marketplace for the creative community to access images, videos, fonts and creative talent, through critical creative services like Fotolia and our new Creative Talent Search capabilities." The transaction, which is expected to close in the second half of Adobe’s fiscal Q1 2015, is subject to certain regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Upon close Fotolia CEO, Oleg Tscheltzoff, will continue to lead the Fotolia team as part of Adobe’s Digital Media business.
