Conclusion

4 stars
(out of 5 stars)

The Ricoh Caplio G4 is a neat and tidy kind of camera. It's not very different from the 10's of other 3 megapixel digital cameras on the market, either in terms of design or features. It doesn't create photos that will take your breath away - indeed, they suffer a bit too much from purple fringing. Having said all that, the Caplio G4 does have a few tricks up its sleeve, principally the speed at which it operates, and combined with the very low price, the camera is a bit of a bargain for anyone who is new to digital cameras or photography in general. The Caplio G4 won't excite the seasoned photographer, but on the other hand it won't frighten and confuse the less experienced snapper. Personally, I wouldn't buy one, but I can think of a lot of people who would and who would enjoy using it. If easy to use and value for money are at the top of your shopping list, you could do far worse than the Ricoh Caplio G4.
