Sharpness at 50mm

For this test, the Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 lens was attached to a Nikon Z 7 body, which in turn was mounted on a sturdy tripod. Exposure delay mode was activated to prevent further shake. Any variances in tone and colour across the crops are due to changes in natural light during the session.

In the centre of the image, sharpness is extremely high even at the widest aperture of f/1.8. It remains impressively sharp throughout the aperture range, becoming a little softer on very close examination at f/11, and slightly softer again at f/16.

At the edges of the image, sharpness is almost as good, with the best results seen between f/2 and f/11.
