Canon EOS RP First Impressions

The Canon EOS RP is a new full-frame mirrorless camera, offering 26 megapixels and using the Canon RF lens mount.

Canon Celebrate 14th Year of Market Leadership

Canon have announced that their interchangeable-lens digital cameras (digital SLRs and CSCs) have maintained the No. 1 share of the global market for 14 consecutive years from 2003 to 2016. In 2003, Canon introduced their breakthrough EOS 300D DSLR camera, which was competitively priced and quickly captured the top share of the global market. Canon has continued to launch a range of interchangeable-lens cameras including the professional-model EOS-1D series and the EOS 5D series which paved the way for digital SLR video recording. During 2016, Canon released the EOS 80D for advanced amateur users, the EOS-1D X Mark II for professionals, and the 4K-enabled EOS 5D Mark IV (pictured) for video enthusiasts. Additionally, the company’s interchangeable-lens camera lineup was further expanded with the introduction of the high-end EOS M5 compact-system camera in November. This year, the company launched the Canon EOS M6, EOS 77D and EOS 800D models.

Canon EOS 800D First Impressions Review

This month Canon celebrates 30 years of its EOS system. The company has invested a lot in the system over those years, launching almost 100 film and digital EOS cameras and over 100 EF lenses.

Tamron 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD

The Tamron 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD is a new ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C DSLR cameras. In 2008, Tamron launched the SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] UWA zoom. Building on that lens’s popularity, this new lens has improved optical performance and new features. It offers Vibration Compensation, Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating, and the first implementation of Tamron’s new HLD (High/Low Torque Modulated Drive Motor). When shooting in AF mode, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to instantly make fine focusing adjustments manually, without having to switch between modes. The optical formula comprises 16 elements in 11 groups. Special lens elements include one LD (Low Dispersion) element, one XLD glass element, one molded glass aspherical element, and one hybrid aspherical lens. Availability is slated for late March, with pricing to be confirmed.

Canon EOS 80D and EOS M3 Video Creator Kits

Canon will showcase its new Canon EOS 80D and EOS M3 Video Creator Kits during VidCon 2016 at the Anaheim Convention Center, 23-25 June 2016. The EOS 80D Video Creator Kit ($2,049.00, available from August 2016) includes an EOS 80D DSLR camera and EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, an external microphone and 32GB SD card. This kit also includes the Canon Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1 which allows creators to smoothly control their zoom at the push of a button or right from their compatible smartphone by using the Canon Camera Connect app. The EOS M3 Video Creator Kit ($899.99, available later this month) includes an EOS M3 compact system camera and EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, an external microphone and a 32GB SD card. The new bundles join a family of Video Creator Kits that include the EOS Rebel T6i, Rebel T5i and EOS 70D.

Canon Celebrates 13th Consecutive Year of No. 1 Share of ILC Market

Canon is celebrating its 13th year at number one in the interchangeable-lens digital camera market. The success story began in 2003 with the introduction of the EOS 300D, the first affordable digital SLR camera that combined a competitive price with a compact, lightweight design and captured the top global market share upon release. The entire EOS series is supported by Canon’s extensive EF lens collection, with production surpassing the 110 million unit mark in June 2015, and currently comprises a total of 98 models.

Canon EOS 80D, EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1

The Canon EOS 80D is a new mid-range DSLR camera designed for capturing stills and video. The 80D features a  24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 processor, alongside a new 45 all cross-type point AF system, native ISO 100-16,000 range, expandable to ISO 25,600, and fast responsive 7fps shooting rate.

Canon is also unveiling an all-purpose lens – the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM – with new Nano USM technology, and an optional Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1, for smooth zoom control when shooting movies and remote operation via Wi-Fi.

The EOS 80D is available from April 2016 with an RRP of £999.99/€769.99 body only. The EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is available from April 2016 with an RRP of £439.99/€610. The Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1 is available from May 2016 with an RRP of £129.99/€179.99.

In the US, the Canon EOS 80D Digital SLR camera and EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens are currently scheduled to be available in March 2016 for an estimated retail price of $1,199.00 for the body only, $1,799.00 with the new EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens and $599.99 for the lens only.

The Canon Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1 and Directional Stereo Microphone DM-E1 are currently scheduled to be available in June 2016, for estimated retail prices of $149.99 and $249.99 respectively.
