Sony have released firmware uodate 2.0 for the A9 mirrorless camera. Continuous auto-focus for moving subjects and AF-C stability while zooming have been enhanced, while "all-round operational stability" has been improved, among other minor changes.

The Panasonic LUMIX GH5S is a new flagship compact system camera aimed firmly at videographers, sitting alongside the G9 and GH5 models. Whereas the recently released Lumix G9 is aimed at stills photographers and the popular GH5 at both stills and videographers, the new GH5s has been designed and developed for professional filmmakers. It features a brand new 10.2 megapixel sensor, 4K 60p / 50p video recording in Cinema 4K, internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording, Dual Native ISO Technology, Timecode IN/OUT compatibility, 14-bit RAW recording, true Multi-Aspect Ratios, and it ships with V-Log pre-installed (rather than being a paid upgrade, as on the GH5).

The Panasonic LUMIX GH5S is a new compact system camera designed and developed for professional filmmakers. The GH5S achieves the highest-ever sensitivity and video image quality in the history of LUMIX cameras thanks to a new 10.2-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor, Venus Engine and Dual Native ISO Technology. The GH5S is the world’s first mirrorless camera to offer 4K 60p / 50p video recording in Cinema 4K (4096x2160), features internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording, and ships with V-Log pre-installed on the camera.

The Panasonic LUMIX GH5S will be available from end of January 2018 and will retail for £2199 / €2549.99 / $2499 (body only).

DJI has unveiled two new handheld camera stabilisers at CES 2018 – the Osmo Mobile 2 for smartphones and the Ronin-S for DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 (£139) has a lightweight design that supports portrait orientation, simpler controls with cinematic zoom, a longer battery life for more filming, and intelligent features.

The Ronin-S is DJI’s first single-handed stabiliser for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, with a compact form and dedicated buttons to control camera settings and precise positioning.

The Sony E 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS is a new compact, lightweight APS-C lens. Featuring a versatile 18-135mm focal length, aperture range of F3.5-F5.6 and optical SteadyShot stabilisation, the Sony 18-135mm lens produces outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the entire zoom range, while its maximum magnification ratio of 0.29x and minimum focus distance of 0.45m promises pleasing bokeh and background defocus. The Sony E 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS (SEL18135) will be available from February 2018, priced at approximately £570 / $600 US / $780 CA.

Sony will also be releasing a new silver colour option for the popular A6300 camera. The sleek new silver camera body will be available in February 2018 at select retailers in Europe.

Hasselblad has released the 1.20 Firmware Update for the X1D and H6D cameras. New features include Instant Preview and Imaging Browsing through the X1D EVF, creative Selectable Crop Modes including the popular XPan Ratio (65:24), and back-up to secondary card.

Eagle-eyed website Nokoshita have noticed that a new camera, the Fujifilm X-H1, is listed in the documentation for the new X Pro Studio raw conversion software, which was released earlier today. 

Positioned above the X-T2 (pictured) and the X-Pro2 in the list of cameras supported by X Pro Studio, the new X-H1 also has a couple of key specs mentioned - a 24 megapixel sensor and a top shutter speed of 1/32,000sec.

Fuji Rumors have commented on this and confidently revealed that the X-H1 will have in-body image stabilisation, something that has only been available for Fujifilm mirrorless cameras via lens-based stabilisation, although as the site name suggests, that's only a rumor atm...

Fujifilm X Raw Studio is new conversion software that allows photographers to quickly and easily convert RAW files. X Raw Studio utilizes the connected camera’s X-Processor Pro high-speed image processing engine, allowing for quick and effective conversion without compromising on image quality. Compatible with both Mac and PC systems, it enables batch conversion of a selection of images.

Fujifilm X Raw Studio for Mac is available now, and is set to launch for Windows in February 2018. It is available to users at no cost.

Also available today are Firmware updates for the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-T20 X Series cameras and the GFX 50S.

Sony Japan has issued a statement apologizing for delays on the shipment of A7R III camera pre-orders, due to unexpected demand. All pre-orders made before the release date will be delivered by early December. The A7R III has now started shipping to pre-order customers throughout Europe, with first deliveries in North America expected by the end of November.

The Panasonic LUMIX G9 is a new flagship compact system camera that offers the highest picture quality in the history of Panasonic cameras. Featuring a 20.3-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor without a low-pass filter, the Panasonic G9 can capture 80-megapixel equivalent images using the new High Resolution mode. Other key features include a 6.5-stop Dual Image Stabilizer, the world’s fastest AF speed of 0.04 sec, 20 fps (AFC) / 60 fps (AFS) burst shooting, a 3680k pixel OLED Live View Finder with a magnification ratio of 1.66x / 0.83x, a 3.0-inch free-angle LCD screen, a status LCD on top of the camera and AF joystick on the rear, dual UHS-II SD Memory Card slots, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and 4K 60p video recording.

The Panasonic LUMIX G9 will be available from January 2018 in three kit options:

The Panasonic 200mm f/2.8 lens offers a 400mm super-telephoto focal length equivalent, f/2.8 maximum aperture, built-in optical image stabilisation, a rugged dust/splash/freeze--proof design, and a triple linear motor system and max.240 fps sensor drive for high-speed, high-precision auto-focusing.

The Panasonic 200mm lens will go on sale in December 2017 with an RRP of £2,699 (€3,099). The free bundled 1.4x Teleconverter (DMW-TC14) increases the focal length to 560mm.
