KODAK EASYSHARE C330CNET have just reviewed the 4 megapixel Kodak Easyshare C330.

“How low should prices go for entry-level cameras? If all you need is a simple point-and-shoot, the Kodak EasyShare C330 offers surprisingly good photos for a reasonable price. It’s essentially the same camera as the Kodak EasyShare C340, except it has fewer pixels (4 vs. 5 megapixels), a slightly smaller LCD (1.5 vs. 1.6 inches), and a less capable video mode. Like the C340, the C330 is easy to use and has a sturdy, though mostly plastic, construction. For those on a tight budget, it may be a better bargain than the C340.”

Canon PowerShot A610DIWA member Steves Digicams have reviewed the new 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot A610 digital camera.

“I was very pleased with the image quality when using its Large SuperFine setting. Outdoors, it captures sharp images with good color balance. The Auto white balance setting produced accurate results in a variety of different lighting conditions. You can also choose one of the six presets (Day light, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Fluorescent H, Underwater) or use the custom “one-touch” setting. Its exposure system did an excellent job, capturing properly exposed images almost every time. Noise levels are nearly non existent in high/low contrast areas, allowing for beautiful sky and shadow detail.”

Panasonic DMC-LX1DCResource have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-LX1, an 8.4 megapixel digital camera with a 4x Leica optical zoom lens equivalent to 28-112mm, optical image stabilizer and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.

“The area in which the LX1 really disappoints is in terms of image quality. While photos are well-exposed with accurate color, good sharpness, and very low purple fringing levels, they are way too noisy, even at ISO 80. And forget about using the higher ISOs: photos taken at ISO 200 or 400 are practically useless. It seems to me that Panasonic put a few million too many pixels on the tiny 1/1.65” CCD sensor. If you’re doing prints at 8 x 10 inches or smaller, you’ll be pleased with the results if you keep the ISO sensitivity as low as possible. Any larger than that and the noise will be obvious.”

Fujifilm FinePix E900 ZoomPhotoxels have published the first online review of the new Fujifilm FinePix E900 Zoom, a 9 megapixel digital camera with a 4x optical zoom lens equivalent to 32-128mm and an ISO range of ISO 80 to ISO 800.

“We find the overall image quality of the Fujifilm E900 to be very good to excellent, though not quite approaching the exceptional low noise capability of the Fujifilm F10. Even then, many will find both ISO 400 and ISO 800 an added bonus when printing 4x6 in. photos or for displaying for the web.”

Panasonic DMC-LX1Luminous Landscape have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-LX1, an 8.4 megapixel digital camera with a 4x Leica optical zoom lens equivalent to 28-112mm, optical image stabilizer and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.

“My evaluation is that even without any aggressive NR efforts, the LX1 is perfectly acceptable noise-wise at ISO 80 and 100. ISO 200 needs help, and ISO 400 is frankly unacceptable without processing by a program such as Noise Ninja. Fortunately the noise is primarily chroma, so it cleans up quite nicely. So, while the good news is that shooting in RAW mode allows the LX-1 to perform at its best, the RAW software provided by Panasonic is simply dreadful. Fugedaboutit. Fortunately the latest version of Adobe’s Camera Raw for both Photoshop CS2 and Elements 4 already supports the LX-1, and does so very well. Combine the LX1 in RAW mode with Camera Raw, and the image quality will more than please you. JPG files, or RAW files processed with Panasonic’s PhotoFunStudio may disappoint.”

Nikon Coolpix S4Imaging Resource have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S4, which has 6 megapixels and a 10x Zoom-Nikkor lens that is equivalent to 38-380mm.

“The Nikon S4’s 6.0-megapixel imager means it can capture high resolution images, and its 10x zoom lens gives you quite a bit of flexibility. All in all, it’s an excellent “take-with-you-everywhere” digital camera, with a compact size that travels well. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7DCViews have compared the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 (pictured), a 5 megapixel digital camera with a 2.5 inch LCD screen and a 3x optical zoom lens, with the new Nikon Coolpix S3.

“The Sony Cybershot T7 and the Nikon Coolpix S3 are both ultra compact digital cameras, which perform, despite their small dimensions and weight, above average. The Coolpix S3 is a real ‘point-and-shoot’-camera with little manual control, but handy automatic features. The Sony T7 works mainly automatic, but gives you more control if necessary. Colors and exposure of the pictures of the Sony T7 are better than with the Nikon S3. On detail and noise the cameras perform the same. The Sony Cybershot T7 and the Nikon Coolpix S3 are both good travel partners in back pocket or handbag, with the T7 as a winner on image quality and ‘looks’. But then again, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.”

Kodak Easyshare C340CNET have reviewed the Kodak Easyshare C340, a 5 megapixel digicam with 3x optical zoom lens.

“The Kodak EasyShare C340 is a solid contender but not a trailblazer. The 5-megapixel sensor and the 3X zoom are decent features for the price, and the mostly plastic body feels sturdy and durable. Its biggest assets are easy-to-navigate menus and relatively high-quality photos. The biggest drawback is its undersized, 1.6-inch LCD screen. That might have been acceptable two years ago, but not now, when 1.8-inch screens are common on less expensive cameras. The C340 also falls short on manual controls, though given Kodak’s target audience for this model, that’s to be expected.”

Kodak Easyshare P880DIWA member LetsGoDigital have previewed the new Kodak Easyshare P880 digital camera. The Kodak Easyshare P880 is an 8 megapixel model with wide-angle 24–140 mm zoom lens and 2.5 inch LCD screen.

“The Kodak EasyShare P-880 is an interesting digital camera. It is a new concept from Kodak. Packed with all kinds of photographic settings, but priority is given to ease-of-use. Handling the new Kodak P880 is easy. Though I cannot imagine that the P880 is an interesting digital camera for anyone who labels him or herself as semi-pro or pro, it still offers quite a number of the settings you are used to having when working with an advanced camera like a DSLR. The Kodak Easy-Share P880 will be of interest to a large group of consumers, especially those who are searching for something that is somewhat more than an entry-level.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6DIWA member Steves Digicams have published their review of the Konica Minolta Z6, which updates the popular Z5 and features a 6 megapixel sensor, 12x zoom lens and 2 inch LCD screen.

“The overall image quality of the Z6’s 6-megapixel Fine mode wasn’t what we had expected. While the majority of our images were sharp, there was very noticeable noise present in areas of contrast, giving images a grainy look. There were also moderate traces of Chromatic Aberrations, but this is typical of ultra-zoom cameras. Our outdoor samples had good color saturation with good exposure in most cases, however in instances of harsh sunlight it did tend to over-expose the entire shot.”

SONY ENHANCES PICTURE QUALITY AND PHOTO SHARING WITH NEXT-GENERATION T-SERIES DIGITAL STILL CAMERA

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 1, 2005 — Sony is stepping up the picture quality of ultra-slim digital still cameras with the introduction of its new Cyber-shot® DSC-T9 model, the first in this category to offer both Super Steady Shot® optical image stabilization and high light sensitivity.

With these Sony technologies, the new six-megapixel DSC-T9 delivers more detailed images with significantly less blur and graininess than typical point-and-shoot cameras. Optical image stabilization reduces image blur from hand movement, while high light sensitivity helps to lessen blurriness resulting from low-light conditions. The end effect is better-focused, expressive images that look more like the way you see them, imitating the human eye.

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 ZoomDPReview have published their review of the Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Zoom, a new 9 megapixel digital camera with a 28-300mm lens with twist-barrel zoom control (also known as the S9000).

“I think - with the possible exception of the Panasonic FZ30 - it’s fair to say the S9000 is the about as close any manufacturer has ever come to producing a fixed-lens camera that offers real SLR-like handling and operation. It certainly looks like a DSLR, and at lower ISO settings it produces results you have to look at very closely before you can see they’re not from one. On the other hand it is in many ways frustratingly far from offering a true alternative to an SLR; high ISO performance is good for a small-sensor camera, but simply doesn’t compare to even the cheapest entry-level SLR. Raw performance is painfully slow, and the lack of any tools to actually process the resultant files means the S9000 doesn’t offer a true ‘out of the box’ raw solution.”

Kodak EasyShare-One Digital Photography SystemDesignTechnica have reviewed the new Kodak EasyShare One Wi-Fi digital camera.

“Welcome to the brave new world of Wi-Fi digital cameras. And no matter what Kodak says it’s not for faint-hearted but someone who’s very comfortable working with wireless networks. I have to confess even I called the very helpful hotline to work out some issues (1-800-23-KODAK ext 12). Still the EasyShare One is the start of something very new in consumer digital imaging with Nikon and Canon following in its footsteps. And we’re sure others will follow in the years ahead. Kodak is to be highly praised for trying to cut through the Wi-Fi gobbledegook and making the camera as simple to use as possible. Although I would love to see some improvements on the camera side and a lower price, Kodak is to be commended for taking this wireless leap.”

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 ZoomTrustedReviews have published their review of the Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Zoom, a new 9 megapixel digital camera with a 28-300mm lens with twist-barrel zoom control (also known as the S9000).

“Since its introduction in 2001 there has been much debate over Fuji’s SuperCCD technology and its use of interpolation, and some reviewers remain skeptical, but the fantastic level of detail in the images produced by the S9500 should settle any arguments once and for all. In the eight years that I’ve been reviewing digital cameras, the only one I’ve seen with better image quality is the Canon EOS 1DS MkII, which at £4700 is nearly 12 times the price of the S9500. Focus, exposure, contrast, colour rendition, sharpness and noise control are all absolutely superb. In fact, as the sample pictures will show, it is astonishingly noise-free even at 800 ISO.”

Olympus mju DIGITAL 800Imaging Resource have just reviewed the new Olympus mju DIGITAL 800 digicam.

” The Olympus Stylus 800 Digital is yet another evolution in Olympus’ popular line of Stylus digital cameras. To my eye, it’s one of the best Stylus models to date, able to accommodate a broader range of shooting conditions than its predecessors, and with a very solid “feel” in the hand. With relatively compact dimensions, stylish design, and nice array of features, the Stylus 800 Digital could be a good match for novices and others interested in a compact, rugged, and highly portable camera. Its all-weather body design means it can go just about anywhere, and its below-average size makes it quite at home in your shirt pocket. You get an 8.0-megapixel CCD, a very large 2.5-inch LCD monitor, a good-quality lens, and an excellent selection of shooting modes, making the camera very versatile in a variety of situations.”
