Olympus FE-110DIWA member Steves Digicams have reviewed the 5 megapixel Olympus FE-110 digital camera.

“Image quality is always one of the most important aspects when considering to purchase a digicam, and the FE-110 has got the goods for a camera in this price range. Its 5-megapixel SHQ images are sharp with wonderful color saturation. The white balance and exposure systems are fully automatic and seemed to work well in most lighting. When shooting indoors in mixed lighting conditions the display may show your subject being very “warm”, but once the flash fires and the image is captured you’ll see a much better finished product. Noise levels were surprisingly low in areas of contrast, but I did notice some traces of purple fringing around extremely bright objects in our sample photos.”

Ricoh Caplio R3TrustedReviews have the first review of the Ricoh Caplio R3, a 5 megapixel compact camera with a 7x optical zoom lens equivalent to 28-200mm and vibration correction of the CCD.

“The initial impression of the R3 is overwhelmingly favourable. It feels very solidly made and looks stylish and contemporary. It is available in either a black or a silver finish. We’ve got the black version in for review and it does look very nice. At 26mm it is not quite super-slim, thanks to the extra space needed for the big zoom lens, but it is by no means a bulky camera. It looks very square at first, but a closer look reveals that it is subtly sculpted, and feels good in the hand.”

Sony Cyber-shot N1CNET have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot N1, an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 3 inch touch-screen LCD and 3x optical zoom lens.

“Either you’ll love the idea of a touch-screen LCD or you’ll find the necessity of constantly visiting the menu system totally frustrating, if not absurd; it’s enough to make anyone’s relationship with the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-N1 a love/hate proposition. Snapshooters frustrated with the assortment of buttons and dials on other digital cameras may find the N1’s touch screen easier to use; those accustomed to changing settings via dedicated buttons or a four-way controller may reject the whole idea. At its heart, the DSC-N1 remains a basic 8-megapixel, 3X-zoom ultracompact camera for everyday photography.”

Sony DSC-W7PC Magazine have published their review of the Sony DSC-W7, a 7 megapixel digital camera with a 2.5 inch LCD screen, battery life of 380 shots between power charges and 32 megabytes of internal memory.

“In our tests, the W7 did fairly well. In both our simulated-daylight and flash test shots, we found very little noise, along with strong, accurate color—especially the yellows and oranges, which really popped. There was also very little fringing in the photos. But in both daylight and flash shots, we found the images to be about one f-stop underexposed. Also, the contrast was too strong, and details tended to get lost in the shadows. Flash strength was acceptable, although we would have preferred it to be a little stronger. In real-world shooting, we saw a bit of purple fringing in a few of the photos, but nothing uncommon.”

Sony DSC-S60PC Magazine have taken a look at the new Sony DSC-S60 digital camera.

“The camera really shined on our resolution and performance tests. The DSC-S60 scored at the top of the 4MP range on our lines of resolution test, with 1,300 average lines. The camera proved to be quite speedy as well, booting up in a respectable 2.8 seconds, with a decent recycle time of 2.3 seconds. We did find some noticeable shutter lag, and in our distortion test, we found barrel distortion at the wide-angle end and, surprisingly, at the telephoto end of the zoom.”

Canon PowerShot A620DCResource have reviewed the Canon PowerShot A620, which features a 7.1 megapixel sensor, 2 inch LCD screen and 4x optical zoom lens equivalent to 35–140 mm focal length.

“As was the case with the A510 and A520, the A610/620 twins lens got a boost in this model year, from 3X on the A95 to 4X today. The focal length of this F2.8-F4.1 lens is 7.3 - 29.2 mm, which is equivalent to 35 - 140 mm. While the lens itself is not threaded, by purchasing the conversion lens adapter mentioned earlier you can attach conversion lenses and 58 mm filters. To attach any of those just press that button to the lower-right of the lens, remove the plastic ring, and then attach the lens adapter and lens/filter.”

Nikon Coolpix S2CNET have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S2, an updated version of the S1 digital camera. The main changes to the 5 megapixel Nikon S2 are the addition of a weather-proof body and a sliding lens mechanism.

“If you’d rather have a pocket camera that can stand up to a little rain or splashing instead of one that’s compatible with an underwater housing, then Nikon has your number. Otherwise identical to the Nikon Coolpix S1, the Coolpix S2 has a water-resistant cover to protect the lens as well as a rubber ring to keep your memory card and battery dry. If you’d rather have a fully waterproof model to take snorkeling, opt for the S1, which has an Underwater scene mode and an optional housing.”

Canon IXUS 55CNET have reviewed the new Canon IXUS 55 compact digital camera (also known as the SD450), which has 5.0 megapixels, 2.5 inch LCD screen and 3x optical zoom lens.

“The Canon PowerShot SD450, a 5-megapixel update to the SD400 Digital Elph, has more in common with its 4-megapixel SD300 sibling than it does with the top-of-the-line 7-megapixel SD550. Instead of the slightly larger, curvier body found in its higher-resolution stablemate, this Elph has the same boxy, ultracompact frame as the SD300 and shares virtually every other spec except resolution. What you get for your extra money is improved image quality—and that might be enough.”

Sony Cyber-shot N1A-Digital-Eye are the first to review the Sony Cyber-shot N1, an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 3 inch touch-screen LCD and 3x optical zoom lens.

“Sony’s 8-megapixel compact camera stands out from the rest. It’s ideal for shooting and sharing. The 3x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens creates sharp images. The huge 3” touch-screen LCD monitor is slightly recessed to help avoid scratches. At first I wasn’t too sure of a touch-screen on a small camera, but after some use it’s great. You can navigate much quicker, the buttons on the touch-screen are large enough that you rarely miss them.”

HP Photosmart R817DigitalCameraReview.com have just reviewed the new HP Photosmart R817, which offers 5 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens.

“The HP Photosmart R817 will satisfy families looking for an easy-to-use point and shoot digital camera. With each iteration of HP’s camera line the specifications improve and the user interface simplifies. This digital camera sports a 5 megapixel CCD, a 5x optical Pentax zoom lens, a large 2” LCD. The only downside is the usual (unfortunately) softness and noise present in images when zoomed. For the 4x6 printing crowd, the R817 will fit in a pocket of purse, zoom in on details, and never confuse the least competent photo taker.”
