DCResource have reviewed the new Fujifilm FinePix F10 Zoom, which has an ISO range of 80 to 1600, Super CCD sensor with 6.1 megapixels and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.
“Photo quality on the F10 was excellent. I was consistently impressed with the output from the F10—and this is coming from someone who hasn’t been a big fan of Fuji’s recent efforts. If I was to complain about something it would be the above average purple fringing and occasional overexposure of some photos. The area in which the F10 really stands out is when the ISO is cranked up. If you’re tired of blurry pictures, then this is the camera for you. The F10 can go all the way to ISO 1600 and the photos are still usable, though you probably won’t want to print them at 8 x 10 or larger due to the noise. You can set the ISO yourself or just put the camera into natural light mode and let it pick the right sensitivity for you.”

“With a street price of around £250 the F810 is far from cheap, but it does offer a few unique features to justify the price. First is that big widescreen monitor and image format, which you’ll either love or hate, and then there’s the 12.3 megapixel straight-out-of-camera image size, which beats all but the top few digital SLRs. However image quality isn’t all that you might hope from the numbers and the short battery life can also be a problem.”

Samsung seem to be going all out recently to try and make a big splash in the digicam market. Not content with launching a digital camera with the biggest zoom lens and LCD screen, Samsung have now posted a website teaser for what could be the world’s slimmest digicam. The Samsung #1 will supposedly be just 1.73cms thick, making it the glamorous supermodel of the compact digicam world. Other details about the Samsung #1 divulged through the rather tedious flash-based advert include a 2.5 inch LCD screen, inner zoom, safety flash (whatever that is), corporate buzzwords like “cool interface” and “stylish”, and an announcement date of June 1st. Minox DM 1 is announced. The Minox DM 1 is an all-in-one digital still camera, video camera, webcam, MP3 player and dictaphone. The Minox DM 1 has a 3.2 megapixel CMOS sensor that can be interpolated up to 6 megapixels in-camera. The DM1 offers 128 MB of internal memory for storage and also uses external SD memory cards. A large 2 inch LCD screen is used for composition and playback (there is no optical viewfinder on the DM1). The digital video function stores the images using the latest MP4 compression. “The Canon Powershot SD200 is the entry-level model in Canon’s latest line of ultra-compact digital cameras. “The V700 is the first Samsung camera we’ve ever tested on dpreview, and to be honest we were fairly sceptical that a camera offering so much at a price well below similarly-specified cameras from the mainstream manufacturers could possibly deliver on its promise. So does it? In a word, partially. In many respects the V700 can hold its own when compared to significantly more expensive models such as the Canon S70 or Olympus C-7000Z. It has a very comprehensive set of photographic controls (which aren’t hidden away in menus), a good lens producing superb resolution and a well-rounded feature set that combines user-friendly ‘point and shoot’ ease with proper enthusiast control. It also produces bright, sharp results that make very appealing prints, though purists will find that even after tweaking the various parameters the images are a little too ‘over processed’ (and a little noisy) for their liking.”
