Nikon may have announced all of their new products before the Photokina 2018 show, but there's still lots of interesting things to see on their stand.

Prototypes of the new Z series 14-30mm f/4 and 58mm f/0.95 lenses are on display, along with an exploded view and barebones chassis of the Nikon Z 7 camera, not to mention the new D3500 DSLR (remember those?!).

Leica Camera have made five exciting announcements at Photokina 2018, including a groundbreaking, industry-setting L-mount, a new mobile application, Leica FOTOS, the Leica S3, firmware updates and a new color option for the Leica CL.

• Leica L Mount: A first-of-its-kind pioneered by Leica in strategic alliance with Panasonic and SIGMA, the Leica L-Mount allows for a nearly limitless array of creative options by combining different interchangeable lenses with cameras featuring different sensor formats.
• Leica S3: The brand new Leica S3 medium format camera features a striking increase in resolution and impeccable performance in any lighting situation.
• Leica FOTOS: New mobile application Leica FOTOS enables Leica photographers to instantly transfer photos from a camera to a phone, as well as features an immersive viewing experience that allows photographers to assess and edit every detail of a raw image, including exposure.
• Leica CL Silver: The Leica CL, a versatile, fast and compact system camera, is now available in a sleek silver finish.
• Exciting Firmware updates are now available for Leica SL-System, Leica S (Typ 007), Leica M10 and Leica M10-P.

The Irix 150mm f/2.8 MACRO 1:1 lens is designed for full frame cameras with the Nikon F, Canon EF, and Pentax K mount. The Irix 150mm f / 2.8 Macro 1:1 lens is the first model available in the new version with the Dragonfly finish, in which the aluminium frame has been enclosed in an external structure made of aluminium-magnesium alloys and composite elements. Information on availability and prices will be provided at a later date.

The Tokina Opera 50mm F1.4 FF is a new lens for Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRs. In addition to the Tokina AT-X series, which has been highly evaluated in the past, Tokina will expand the Opera series as a top model group for full frame in the future.

The Tokina Opera 50mm F1.4 FF will be available in November 2018 for $949.

The CamRanger MINI enables remote live view and firing of a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera. This new device is ideal for any application where remote view and capture are useful or even essential, such as nature and macro photography, wildlife and birdwatching. The suggested retail price of the CamRanger MINI is £229.99 and it's available in the UK now.

Canon have unveiled three new lenses - the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM, EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM and EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM.

The EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM and the EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM are the world’s lightest 400mm f/2.8ii and 600mm f/4 lenses, making them ideal for action and wildlife photography.

The EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM is a premium EF-M lens designed to be fast, discreet and capable of delivering exceptional detail and clarity.

The new high-speed ultrawide-angle zoom lens, the SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A041) continues Tamron’s well-established reputation for ultra-high-quality wide-angle zoom lenses but with many new features in this G2 (Generation 2) model.

The Tamron SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 will be available in Nikon mount on 21st September 2018 and in Canon mount on 12th October 2018 at a suggested retail price of $1299.

The Nikon D3500 is a new entry-level DSLR camera that's smaller, lighter and cheaper than its predecessor, the D3400. It also offers increased battery performance of 1,550 shots from a single charge.

In the US a Nikon D3500 single-lens kit with the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR will be available for $499.95, or in a two-lens kit including the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED for $849.95. In the UK/Europe the D3500 and AF-P DX 18–55 VR lens will cost £499/ €579, and the D3500 and the AF-P 18–55 non VR lens £479/ €549.

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR is a super-telephoto lens compatible with Nikon FX format SLR cameras. The AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR is a high-performance, FX format, super-telephoto lens that supports a 500 mm focal length. Adoption of a Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element has significantly reduced the size and weight of the lens, making hand-held super-telephoto photography easy and enjoyable.

Nikon will also release the DF-M1 dot sight (sold separately), an accessory that is very effective with super-telephoto photography and fully compatible with the new COOLPIX P1000 superzoom camera.

The AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR will be available September 13 for the suggested retail prices (SRP) of $3599.95*. The Dot Sight DF-M1 will be available for $174.95 SRP*.

Samyang have unveiled their first ever AF lens for Nikon cameras, the AF 14mm F2.8 F ultra wide-angle lens. This compact ultra wide-angle lens weighs only 484g ands is comprised of 15 elements in 10 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, 4 high refractive (HR) elements and 1 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element. The Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 F will be available from September 2018 priced at £649.99.

Sony is now ranked number 1 in the US full-frame interchangeable lens camera market. Four out of every 10 full-frame cameras sold during in the first half of 2018 have come from the Sony brand. As a celebration of these historic achievements, Sony has announced the launch of its extensive "Be Alpha" campaign that will connect creators of all types with the brand.

Nikon UK launches its Summer Cashback promotion, offering up to £275/€300 on selected Nikon cameras and NIKKOR lenses. The promotion runs from 15th June 2018 until 31st August 2018.

The Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 EF is a Full Frame Canon EF Mount lens that sets new standards for portrait lenses thanks to its compact size and light weight construction. The new Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 EF lens will be available from July 2018 for £599.99.

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR fixed focal length super-telephoto lens for Nikon FX-format digital SLR cameras. Currently under development, the Nikkor 500mm f/5.6 lens uses the same type of Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element used in the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR (pictured). The release date and recommended retail price will be provided at a later date. 

Canon has upgraded two of its most loved and well-regarded L-series lenses with the launch of the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM.

The EF 7-200mm f/4L IS II USM is available from summer 2018 with an SRP of £1,299.99/€1,519.99 / £1,299.00 The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM is available from summer 2018 with an SRP of £2,149.99/€2,499.99 / $2,099.00.

The World's first 24-hour Gigapixel time-lapse panorama has been captured with the Nikon D850 and MRMC’s robotic Ulti-Head. In total over 6,240 photos were taken across a 155-degree view over 24 hours, and subsequently stitched together to create an incredibly detailed panorama, and the first gigapixel timelapse of London.

Canon Inc has announced today that the Company’s interchangeable-lens digital cameras (digital SLR and compact-system cameras) have maintained the No. 1 share of the global market for 15 consecutive years, from 2003 to 2017.
