JK Imaging Europe has unveiled the new Kodak PixPro SP360-4K Camera, billed as the world first and most complete 4K recording device to capture 360° immersive videos and still images without the need for multiple cameras. The new, 4K capable version of the PixPro SP360 camera captures 360-degree field of view in multiple directions via its dome shaped lens design and can be panned not only 360-degrees horizontally, but also up and down with a host of different vantage points and views for playback post capture. Newly added features include time-lapse video, 12-megapixel stills capture and a burst mode. Like its predecessor, the new Kodak PixPro SP360-4K comes with a wide range of attachments (over 12) from waterproof housing (up to 60m) to flat adhesive suction mount and remote control. Availability is slated for October 2015.

Canon today announced that it is developing a Cinema EOS System 8K camera and professional-use 8K reference display, along with a 120-megapixel still-image SLR camera. The Cinema EOS System 8K camera being developed will be equipped with a Canon Super 35 mm-equivalent CMOS sensor that makes possible high-resolution 8,192 x 4,320 pixel video performance even at a frame rate of 60fps with 13 stops of dynamic range. The 8K reference display currently under development will achieve high brightness, high contrast and a wide gamut, as well as a pixel density exceeding 300ppi.

GoPro have released a new feature that allows the user to create short video clips directly on the camera or mobile device for easy sharing. On-camera trimming, available on HERO4 Black with LCD BacPac, HERO4 Silver , and HERO+ LCD, allows you to save your trimmed file directly back onto the memory card, adjacent to the rest of the video files for later sharing. The in-app functionality will allow for instant saving to your camera roll and very precise trimming from all Wi-Fi enabled GoPro cameras.

Canon, today introduced their first multi-purpose camera, the new ME20F-SH, which delivers an ISO sensitivity of over 4,000,000. This multi-purpose camera employs an enhanced version of the 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor for Full HD video use that was originally developed by Canon in 2013. It has a pixel pitch of 19μm, and each of its sensor photosites has a surface area of 361 μm2, which is much higher than the corresponding values of the Canon EOS-1D X (6.94 μm and 48.16 μm2, respectively). Furthermore, similar to Canon’s Cinema EOS System of professional digital cinematography cameras, the ME20F-SH includes Canon Log and Wide DR. The camera employs the same EF mount (Cinema Lock type) as Canon’s SLR cameras and Cinema EOS System-series of professional digital cameras, allowing users to make use of the company's extensive lineup of interchangeable lenses. The Canon ME20F-SH is expected to be available in December 2015 at a suggested retail price of $30,000.

RED have issued a firmware update for their Epic and Scarlet camera platforms, adding several still photography features. One of these is a new multi-shot mode. In this mode, if you press the red button on the side-handle once, the camera will capture a single frame - but if you keep it depressed, it will record all the frames for the duration you hold down that button. Another new mode is Motion+Stills, which allows users to mark individual frames for extraction while recording video, reducing the amount of time needed to find the perfect one at the post processing stage. Finally, the S-M sliding switch on the side handle now toggles between Stills and Movie modes. The default settings in Stills mode include 6K resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio, so in essence by switching to this mode you can turn your RED device into a "traditional" 19-megapixel digital camera. Digital imaging startup “Z” has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the commercialisation of the E1, a diminutive 4K video camera with a FourThirds sized imager and an MFT lens mount. Billed as the World's smallest interchangeable-lens 4K video camera, the new E1 is Wi-Fi 802.11N, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) compliant and comes with an Ambarella A9 image processor. Advanced 3D noise filters using motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) technology reduce noise and jitter, promising "incredible low-light performance" with a top sensitivity of ISO 102,400/51°. Proprietary iOS and Android apps provide the ability to control, live stream and manage content via a wide range of smartphones and tablets. Advanced users can customise the functionality of the E1 through a software development kit available in two versions. Once the Kickstarter campaign has been completed, the E1 will retail for $699 in a body-only configuration, as well as in a kit with a 14mm f/2.5 lens for $999.

GoPro have announced HERO4 Session, which is billed as the smallest, lightest, most convenient GoPro yet. Fifty percent smaller and forty percent lighter than GoPro’s HERO4 Black and Silver cameras, HERO4 Session benefits from a durable waterproof design that eliminates the need for a separate housing, and features simple one-button interface. An expanded set of controls and settings can be accessed when using the GoPro App or Smart Remote. The new action cam captures 1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30 video along with 8-megapixel photos in Single, Burst and Time Lapse modes. HERO4 Session is compatible with existing GoPro mounts and will retail for $399.99

Yuneec International have just launched the Typhoon Q500 4K quadcopter, which offers 4K movie recording and 12-megapixel still image capture. The newest member of the Typhoon family offers up to 25-minutes of flight time while filming with its CGO3 4K camera.  The unit comes ready to fly with a standard ST10+ Personal Ground Station featuring a 5.5-inch touchscreen, while the 3-axis anti-vibration CGO3 gimbal camera comes with a fixed-focus UWA lens and is capable of recording Full HD videos at 120fps for slow-motion playback. Stills can be saved as DNG raw files or JPEGs. The Typhoon Q500 4K system is available for the suggested retail price of $1299.

The next generation of the Polaroid Cube "lifestyle action camera," the WiFi-enabled Polaroid Cube+, made its debut at CE Week 2015. Compatible with iOS and Android devices via the Polaroid Cube+ app, users can sync the camera with their smartphone or tablet to capture and share their 1080p videos and still images instantaneously. The app allows users to control their Polaroid Cube+ lifestyle action camera through their mobile device, or use their device as a viewfinder. Additionally, users can edit, save, print and share their videos and photos instantly from their mobile device using the app. The Polaroid Cube+ will become available in August, priced at $149.

Eyefi announced today that its Mobi Pro photography solution now integrates both GoPro and Olympus Wi-Fi cameras. With Eyefi, photos from these cameras are instantly transferred and automatically organised alongside the ones from their smartphones. “No one uses just one device for taking pictures anymore,” said Matt DiMaria, Eyefi CEO. “We understand that photographers want to choose any camera... and still have instant access to all their photos all together in a single collection without having to go home, upload them into a computer and manually merge each one. We’re giving photographers the flexibility and convenience to share images from all their cameras and the insight to discover more about their photos.” Eyefi apps and cloud service automatically organise these images and make it easier than ever to find and discover more about them. Eyefi’s Wi-Fi camera solution is available to all Eyefi Cloud members as part of their £3.49/$4.99/monthly subscription service. Non-Eyefi Cloud customers can purchase it through the Eyefi Mobi app on their phone or tablet for £3.49/$4.99. This feature is currently available for Android devices and is planned for iOS devices later this year. Eyefi’s Wi-Fi camera connectivity is available for use with GoPro Hero+ LCD, Hero 3, GoPro Hero 4 and Olympus Stylus 1, Olympus PEN E-P5, Olympus Stylus TG- 860, and Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II cameras.

Inspired by Eepy Bird’s film “Extreme Sticky Note Experiments." Sony Japan's team attached the FDR-X1000V 4K ActionCam to a miniature train and sent it on a vibrant journey through a world made entirely of sticky notes. Fifty cleverly designed stunts, using 200,000 sticky notes in eleven different colours, form a journey through green forests and wild rivers whilst exploring waterfalls and rainbows- all captured in stunning detail by the FDR-X1000V. The Sony NXCAM HXR-NX100 is a new professional video camera featuring a 1"-type 20-megapixel sensor, which is approximately the same size as a Super 16mm film frame. Other highlights include a fixed Sony G lens, offering 12x optical zoom and a built-in 4-step ND filter; manual focus, zoom and aperture rings; a 0.24"-type 1550K-dot EVF and 3.5"-type 1550K-dot LCD; and a wide variety of connectivity options including HDMI, Multi/Micro USB, XLR terminals, REMOTE, Composite (BNC) and a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. Kenro has announced an updated version of the Braun Jumper ActionCam. This affordable action camera shoots 8-megapixel stills and 1080p/30fps video footage, and includes an underwater housing that allows the camera to operate at a depth of up to 30m. The images and videos captured with the camera can be viewed on an integrated 1.77in LCD screen. The suggested retail price is £63.12 including VAT. "This is an easy to operate, no fuss ActionCam that will ideally suit those coming into this market for the first time," says Paul Kench, Kenro's managing director. "With such a great price point this is also set to make a superb gift."

Kenro has announced an updated version of its Braun Champion ActionCam. Featuring a 2-inch TFT display, longer battery life (up to 150 minutes), 130-degree lens and Wi-Fi functionality, the camera shoots Full HD (1920x1080p/30fps) movies and 5-megapixel stills. A waterproof housing is included with the kit, which is depth rated for 55 metres. The recommended retail price of the Braun Champion II ActionCam is £117 including VAT.

TomTom today launched the all-new TomTom Bandit action camera, which makes editing and sharing videos quick and easy. Billed as the first-ever camera to come with a built-in media server, the TomTom Bandit action camera works with a companion app (iOS only for the time being), making it possible to create and share videos in a matter of minutes. In editing mode, a simple shake of the smartphone instantly creates an exciting movie. Users can then easily make changes, add music and add overlays of favourite metrics. In addition to capturing HD, Full HD, 2.7K and 4K movies, the TomTom Bandit can also shoot 16-megapixel stills using a CCD sensor and an UWA lens. Connectivity options inlcude Bluetooth, Wi-fi and USB 3.0. The TomTom Bandit action camera will be available in May priced at £299.99.

Garmin has announced two HD action cameras, the VIRB X and the VIRB XE. Waterproof to 50 metres, theVIRB X and XE boast a plethora of built-in sensors and wireless functionality options, which can be utilized through the new G-Metrix feature for a wide array of data overlays and a richer viewing experience. The VIRB XE is designed to shoot professional HD footage at 1440p/30fps and 1080p/60fps with super slow-mo, image stabilisation and different zoom levels. The VIRB X shoots crisp HD footage at 1080p/30fps and 720p/60fps with slow-mo and zoom options. Both versions can capture 12-megapixel stills, and the XE version has a Pro Mode with more advanced manual camera adjustments such as white balance control, sharpness control, colour profile control, ISO and exposure compensation. The Garmin VIRB X will have a suggested retail price of $299.99, and the VIRB XE will have an SRP of $399.99.

The Blackmagic URSA Mini is the World's lightest handheld Super 35 digital film camera with a 4K or 4.6K sensor. Key features include up to 15 stops of dynamic range, switchable global or rolling shutter, a large 5" fold-out monitor and dual raw and Apple ProRes recorders.
