Canon today announced the details of its biggest-ever presence at the IBC show held from 13-17 September in Amsterdam. Canon has been an exhibitor at IBC for more than 30 years, and 2013 will see the company’s largest stand to-date. Covering a full 432m², the stand will display Canon’s complete range of products, including more than 75 lenses, as well Full HD and 4K camera solutions. Ken Koyama, Deputy Head of Professional Imaging Group, Canon Europe, said: “Last year’s IBC was our chance to introduce Canon’s expansion into 4K to the European market. This year we’re focusing even more on fully demonstrating not only the capabilities of new 4K technology, but how the breadth of Canon’s overall range enables production of first class content at all levels." Canon’s stand location at IBC 2013 will be Hall 11, Stand E50.

The Palm Springs Photo Festival and Photo District News have joined forces to present over 1600 reviews in their annual Official Portfolio Review Programme during this year's PhotoPlus Expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, 24-26 October 2013. By registering, photographers will be able to schedule one-on-one, 20-minute sessions with difficult-to-meet, New York-based book publishers, advertising agency creatives, magazine photo editors, gallery and museum directors and curators, reps, industry consultants and more. The first 80 who pre-register for Portfolio Reviews before 1st September will be eligible to have a page devoted to their work (including contact info), included in the event's Portfolio Review Source-Book, printed by Blurb, which will be distributed to each of the reviewers at the PhotoPlus Portfolio Review. Brooklyn Museum is offering the last chance to see the critically acclaimed exhibition. WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY: Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath. Featuring approximately 400 objects, including photographic prints, books, magazines, albums, and camera equipment, this exhibition explores the experience of war and brings together both iconic and unknown images taken by members of the military, commercial portraitists, journalists, amateurs, artists, and numerous Pulitzer Prize-winning photographers. WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY: Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath will be on view from 8 November 2013 through 2 February 2014.

This autumn, Daniel Blau's London gallery will be hosting an exhibition of works by renowned American photojournalist John H. White. The exhibition John H. White: Chicago, which concentrates on photographs depicting life for families living in Chicago housing projects in the 1980s, opens on September 6th and runs until October 5th, 2013. The Imaging Science Group of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has announced the Good Picture 2013 symposium. Taking place at the University of Westminster on 14 December 2013, this year's Good Picture Sympsium provides imaging practitioners, keen amateurs and students with insights into digital imaging. From 17th August, Last Rites Gallery will be hosting Perfect Specimens, a solo exhibition by New York photographer and artist Mark Kessell. Perfect Specimens explores the fundamental processes of human becoming and unbecoming, documenting what he describes as a species portrait, a map of our existence from the first stirring of life to the final phase of post-mortem decay. These eleven works, images of the not-quite-born and the not-entirely-dead, drawn from a total of thirty-nine in the series, represent specific moments in the cycle. Initially created as daguerreotypes, these works now appear as large-scale prints that allow viewers to delve deeply into both the subject. Last Rites Gallery is located at 511 West 33rd Street, 3rd floor, between 10th and 11th avenues, New York.

The call for entries has been announced for The Fourth Image Awards. In 2013, The Fourth Image exhibition will be held from 31st of October to 5th of November. Panasonic has announced a number of seminars being held this weekend with Hugh Hastings, the former Official Photographer for Chelsea FC. Held at Jessops London Oxford Street store on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July, at 11am and 3pm, these sessions will cover Hugh's photography career and current work, working with the Chelsea Football Club, and reasons for Hugh's switch from a DSLR to the Panasonic GH2 and GH3 (pictured). Modelled after the successful ShootNYC event launched in New York five years ago, the inaugural ShootLDN event will be taking place at The Old Truman brewery in London on 2 and 3 October. ShootLDN will host a comprehensive programme of photography-related lectures and workshops run by leading industry professionals, including photographers; photo agencies; picture editors; model agencies and fashion houses. As part of the free and interactive professional seminar and product demonstration programme Hasselblad has arranged for one of the four original Hasselblad Lunar Surface  cameras (as used in training by astronaut teams, including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin) to be available at ShootLDN. At the  two day show Hasselblad event partners, broncolor, Wacom, Adobe, EIZO and Epson will showcase  key products to assist photographers with every stage of workflow  and a  special Adobe Mini-Theatre will host hourly tutorials and demonstrations, covering Photoshop, Lightroom and the Adobe Creative Cloud.

This summer will see the return of the biennial landscape photography exhibition, ‘Masters of Vision.' Hosted by Southwell Minster Cathedral, Church St, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, NG25 0HD; the exhibition opens at 10am on Saturday 27 July and runs through 26 August.  This year's master photographer, Joe Cornish, will host a talk on the opening day where he will share his favourite images. Gulf Photo Plus has announced POP UP GPP London, an all-star photofest featuring world-­renowned photographers Zack Arias, Gregory Heisler, David Hobby and Joe McNally. Each instructor has developed a unique 3-­‐hour session, specific to his particular style and strengths that cannot be found anywhere else. Professional and amateur photographers can now submit entries to compete for the 2013 UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards. Hosted by BBC journalist and presenter Kate Silverton, the UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards recognise outstanding photography from the world of news, royalty, sport, business, fashion and entertainment. Winners will have their work displayed at the Museum of London, as well as receive prizes from headline sponsor SABMiller, and award sponsors: Bloomberg, BT, British Airways, Genesis, Getty Images, Nikon and OpenText. The Northwestern University’s Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art has announced its schedule of fall exhibitions. “Steichen|Warhol: Picturing Fame” is the first exhibition to pair the photographic works of Edward Steichen and Andy Warhol to explore their roles in shaping how we see fame and glamour. “The Polaroid Years: Instant Photography and Experimentation” brings together work by more than 40 artists who embraced the Polaroid format as they upended the established parameters of photography. “Steichen|Warhol” and “The Polaroid Years” are on view at the Block from 20 September to 1 December 2013.

The fourth installment of the contemporary art in editions fair, Multiplied, returns to Christie’s South Kensington this October. The fair will be open to the public with free admission from 18-21 October 2013. Murray Macaulay, Director, Multiplied, commented: “Multiplied’s eclectic mix of established galleries exhibiting eminent artists, and young galleries with new talent, represents the whole gamut of contemporary art in editions, from traditional printmaking and photography, to the experimental edge of 3-D printing and digital art... Prices range from £10 to £30,000.”

‘Exposed’ is a new exhibition of works by students on the Kensington and Chelsea College's BTEC National Diploma in Photography. Describing the show Bruce Tanner, Head of Photography at Kensington and Chelsea College said: “Finding an individual voice in a world so packed with images is one of the hardest things to do and this year’s students have really managed to achieve this. Presenting something different, they have needed to trawl back and forth through the history of photographic processes and combined this with modern digital techniques to produce a show that is stunning and inspiring.” The exhibition is free to attend and runs from Friday July 19 until Friday July 26 in the Carlyle Building, on Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS.
