Canon today announced the details of its biggest-ever presence at the IBC show held from 13-17 September in Amsterdam. Canon has been an exhibitor at IBC for more than 30 years, and 2013 will see the company’s largest stand to-date. Covering a full 432m2, the stand will display Canon’s complete range of products, including more than 75 lenses, as well Full HD and 4K camera solutions. Ken Koyama, Deputy Head of Professional Imaging Group, Canon Europe, said: “Last year’s IBC was our chance to introduce Canon’s expansion into 4K to the European market. This year we’re focusing even more on fully demonstrating not only the capabilities of new 4K technology, but how the breadth of Canon’s overall range enables production of first class content at all levels." The Palm Springs Photo Festival and Photo District News have joined forces to present over 1600 reviews in their annual Official Portfolio Review Programme during this year's PhotoPlus Expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, 24-26 October 2013. By registering, photographers will be able to schedule one-on-one, 20-minute sessions with difficult-to-meet, New York-based book publishers, advertising agency creatives, magazine photo editors, gallery and museum directors and curators, reps, industry consultants and more. Taking place at the University of Westminster on 14 December 2013, this year's Good Picture Sympsium provides imaging practitioners, keen amateurs and students with insights into digital imaging. From 17th August, Last Rites Gallery will be hosting Perfect Specimens, a solo exhibition by New York photographer and artist Mark Kessell. Perfect Specimens explores the fundamental processes of human becoming and unbecoming, documenting what he describes as a species portrait, a map of our existence from the first stirring of life to the final phase of post-mortem decay. These eleven works, images of the not-quite-born and the not-entirely-dead, drawn from a total of thirty-nine in the series, represent specific moments in the cycle. Initially created as daguerreotypes, these works now appear as large-scale prints that allow viewers to delve deeply into both the subject. Last Rites Gallery is located at 511 West 33rd Street, 3rd floor, between 10th and 11th avenues, New York.

Panasonic has announced a number of seminars being held this weekend with Hugh Hastings, the former Official Photographer for Chelsea FC. Modelled after the successful ShootNYC event launched in New York five years ago, the inaugural ShootLDN event will be taking place at The Old Truman brewery in London on 2 and 3 October. ShootLDN will host a comprehensive programme of photography-related lectures and workshops run by leading industry professionals, including photographers; photo agencies; picture editors; model agencies and fashion houses. As part of the free and interactive professional seminar and product demonstration programme Hasselblad has arranged for one of the four original Hasselblad Lunar Surface cameras (as used in training by astronaut teams, including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin) to be available at ShootLDN. This summer will see the return of the biennial landscape photography exhibition, ‘Masters of Vision.' Hosted by Southwell Minster Cathedral, Church St, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, NG25 0HD; the exhibition opens at 10am on Saturday 27 July and runs through 26 August. The Northwestern University’s Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art has announced its schedule of fall exhibitions. “Steichen|Warhol: Picturing Fame” is the first exhibition to pair the photographic works of Edward Steichen and Andy Warhol to explore their roles in shaping how we see fame and glamour. “The Polaroid Years: Instant Photography and Experimentation” brings together work by more than 40 artists who embraced the Polaroid format as they upended the established parameters of photography. “Steichen|Warhol” and “The Polaroid Years” are on view at the Block from 20 September to 1 December 2013.

The fourth installment of the contemporary art in editions fair, Multiplied, returns to Christie’s South Kensington this October. The fair will be open to the public with free admission from 18-21 October 2013. ‘Exposed’ is a new exhibition of works by students on the Kensington and Chelsea College's BTEC National Diploma in Photography. Describing the show Bruce Tanner, Head of Photography at Kensington and Chelsea College said: “Finding an individual voice in a world so packed with images is one of the hardest things to do and this year’s students have really managed to achieve this. Presenting something different, they have needed to trawl back and forth through the history of photographic processes and combined this with modern digital techniques to produce a show that is stunning and inspiring.” The exhibition is free to attend and runs from Friday July 19 until Friday July 26 in the Carlyle Building, on Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS.
