The free-to-view Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY)exhibition is back at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London. It runs from July 12th to August 18th in the Society's Pavilion in Exhibition Road, just a few minutes' walk away from the Science Museum. The exhibition is part of this year's Travel Photography Live! festival which starts off in style with renowned wildlife photographer Andy Rouse at the Royal Geographical Society on July 17th. Some of the world's other leading travel, landscape, adventure, people, location and wildlife photographers will also be speaking at the Society during this event, which takes place on the evenings of July 17th and 24th and all day over the weekend of July 27th and 28th. Do note that while the exhibition itself is free, festival tickets cost £25 for each evening event.

Fox&Squirrel have announced a series of Street Photography tours. The company has created a summer school, which will follow a similar equation to the existing street photography walks but will also include a workshop that will help develop participants' editing skills. The course takes the following shape: 3 Saturday (13th, 20th and 27th of July) walks (Chelsea, Soho and Camden) ending with a Sunday workshop (28th ) in Fox & Squirrel's studio on Camden High Street. X-Rite Photo Marketing has announced its schedule of free July 2013 webinars. On the 15th, Tony Corbell and Brenda Hipsher will present "Colour Management for the Rest of Us," an online seminar featuring a discussion of monitor calibration and general colour management. The webinar will begin at 12:00 pm EDT. On the 24th, X-Rite Field Marketing Manager Brenda Hipsher will review the individual ColorMunki solutions in a webinar entitled "Simply Amazing Colour - Take control of your monitor, projector, printer and camera!" Lomography UK’s July exhibition, opening this Thursday, will feature work from analogue photographer, Richard Heeps. In his Man’s Ruin collection, Heeps explores retro Americana imagery in vibrant, immediate photos. Working largely with rare, end-of-line films, Heeps travelled the US, capturing this collection on his Mamiya RB67 and Nikon FM2 cameras. On show until 26th July, the exhibition will be hosted by Lomography's East London gallery located at 117 Commercial Street, London, E1 6BG. Open daily from 11am-7pm.

Calumet’s seminar academy is set to pilot an exclusive ‘Air to Air Photography’ day for six ‘high-flying’ photographers. For £495 each, delegates will get a full day’s masterclass, complete with a unique airborne photo-shoot ‘sortie’ in the afternoon. “We are teaming up with professional aviation photographer and pilot Keith Wilson and experienced aerobatic and formation pilot and photographer Mick Osbaldeston to offer delegates this matchless introduction to air-to-air photography," said Calumet marketing executive Sian Hamer. "The date currently set for the first seminar is July 8 - so interested photographers need to act fast.” The morning will be spent at The Shropshire Aero Club at Sleap Aerodrome, Harmer Hill, covering all aspects of safety, equipment and technique. Then each delegate boards a high wing Cessna for his or her unique chance to fly in close proximity to another plane that they can photograph.

Winners and runners-up from the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) and RHS Photographer of the Year competitions will be exhibited together for the first time at the RHS's flagship garden Wisley in Surrey. Free with normal garden entry, the exhibit will display the winning images of both competitions as well as the category winners and finalists of: The Beauty of Plants, Beautiful Gardens, Wildlife in the Garden, Bountiful Earth and Wildflower Landscapes from IGPOTY as well as People in the Garden, Abstract and Details, Plant Portrait and Wildlife in the Garden from the RHS Photography Competition. The displayed works will be on show in the Glasshouse Gallery at RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey from 21 June to 11 August 2013, with the exception of 25 & 26 June.

After the success of the first Big Photo Show event in Los Angeles this past May, PMA has announced that The Big Photo Show will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center in 2014, on May 17-18. “The purpose of The Big Photo Show is to grow the imaging industry by increasing people’s passion and enthusiasm for photography,” said PMA President Allen Showalter. “We accomplished that goal in a major way with the first Big Photo Show in LA this year. PMA is excited to build on that great momentum with another LA show in May of 2014, with additional Big Photo Show events and locations yet to come.”

Some of the AFP's best photos from 2012 will be on display at the Berlin photo festival opening this Thursday. The festival aims at bringing photographers and photojournalists together to discuss themes like Documentary Photography, Photojournalism future, Mobile Photography in the context of Internet, Social Networks, Multimedia and more. The exhibition “AFP – Best of 2012” running until 18th June, will show a selection of photos including images that have earned the photographers international prizes such as World Press Photo awards and Pulitzer prizes.

The Societies have confirmed that Damian McGillicuddy will be presenting a full-day seminar at The Societies’ 2014 Convention in London. Damian and his team will be training attendees by creating four uniquely themed shoots utilising speedlight, studio, continuous and UV lights, splitting the auditorium into four - with a set in each corner. Damian says ‘‘The intention of this full-day seminar is to show you that professional photography is about creativity, control and technique, inspiring the audience to seek the correct education to propel their photography forward and to push themselves through the qualification process, not only for their own personal development but as a marketing exercise and, if necessary, as a business development tool.’’ The seminar, which is priced at £80 for members of The Societies and £120 for non-members, will be taking place on Thursday 16 January 2014 at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel.

On the 12th, advertising photographer Jim DiVitale will present "The Complete Digital Photography Process," a webinar focussing on the calibration and custom profiling of a camera, monitor and printer using Wacom products to streamline the workflow. The second session, "Professional Monitor Calibration for Still & Video," (26th June) will review how to access and utilise the video presets in i1Profiler software and will briefly look at the use of ColorCheckers in the video footage as a visual reference. Mary Walker Exhibitions have announced that this year's Focus On Imaging show was the last. Originally named Focus on Photography, the event was first organised 24 years ago. Since then, it has grown to be the largest annual photographic trade show in Europe. Commenting on the closure, Mary Walker said: "Focus On Imaging will not be sold - I'm simply bringing it to an end... I am certain that the time is right for the industry to perhaps find fresh opportunitities and bring new ideas to photographers."

Tiwani Contemporary will host an exhibition by South African photographer Gideon Mendel entitled, Drowning World. The selection includes 15 images taken in Nigeria that have never been exhibited before, and  5  photographs  documenting  flooding  in  various  parts  of  the  globe  including  England,  India,  Haiti  and Australia. The exhibition also presents a two-part video of people living amidst floodwaters in Bangkok, as well as video portraits of Nigerian inhabitants returning to their flooded homes. Drowning World will run from 7 June – 27 July 2013.

CENTER has announced the 13th Annual Review Santa Fe, a juried portfolio review event and conference for photographers. Every year, 100 photographers travel from all over the world for this internationally-renowned event where photographers meet with top publishers, editors, curators, gallerists and others. Many now well-recognised photographers launched their careers at Review Santa Fe. Participants will arrive from 24 U.S. states and 9 countries, including Spain, Japan, Denmark, Mexico, and Singapore. Having received wide acclaim at the Royal Geographical Society in London, the Environmental Photographer of the Year 2013 exhibition comes to Grizedale Forest in the heart of Cumbria’s Lake District. Compiled from the very best of 3000+ entries, the exhibition features over one hundred images by international photographers who narrate a poignant story about the fragility of our planet. Italian photographer Michele Palazzi was awarded the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award 2013 for his image entitled ‘Gone with the Dust #02.’ The Young Environmental Photographer of the Year (under 18) Award went to Eleanor Bennett who has two works selected for exhibition, ‘Travelling Through’ and ‘Car Damage.’

A new exhibition at the New-York Historical Society, Children With AIDS: Spirit and Memory, will feature 20 black-and-white photographs by noted photographer and social realist Claire Yaffa from her collection “The Changing Face of Children with AIDS. " Yaffa, whose photographs have been featured in The New York Times and other major publications, has worked for years to document medical institutions and their youngest patients. Among the institutions that Yaffa worked with during her long artistic career is the Incarnation Children’s Center in the Bronx, one of the first organizations to care for orphaned infants born with HIV. Installed in the Civil Rights Gallery from 7 June through 15 September 2013, the mid- to large-format photographs, taken from 1990-2000, reveal heartbreaking tales of children afflicted with HIV and AIDS.
