Getty Images is partnering with Fujitsu to produce a 20-gigapixel image of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. “We are truly excited to be partnering with Fujitsu on this project. ‘London from the Rooftops’ is a new exhibition of photographs by James Burns, who for nearly 10 years has been documenting London’s skyline from the top of the capital’s tallest tower blocks. Phase One has announced open enrollment for four new special Phase One Digital Artist Series (PODAS) Workshops. X-Rite has announced its schedule of July 2012 webinars. In the first online seminar, Landscape Image Edits and Enhancements in Lightroom 4 (24th July, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EDT), professional photographer Joe Brady will explore both basic and advanced image editing techniques, focusing on the new editing capabilities offered in Lightroom 4. The second webinar, Edit & Enhance Landscape Images in Photoshop (31st July 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EDT), also hosted by Joe Brady, will focus on enhancing landscape shots using Photoshop. “Following a short discussion about workstation color and calibration, Joe will show attendees step-by-step Photoshop edits that they can put to work right away to bring life and drama back into their landscape images,” the company says. Lomography UK has erected a massive LomoWall at the Museum of London. Comprising nearly 30,000 analogue photographs of Paralympic athletes in training for the London 2012 Games, the LomoWall spans the Museum of London’s foyer and rotunda. “The LomoWall is likely to be the largest collection of analogue photographs and contributing is a fun way to get into the spirit if the London 2012 Games,” says Linda Scott, Marketing Manager at Lomography UK. The unique exhibition, which is free to attend, opens to the public tomorrow and runs until 6 January 2012.

Nikon has announced a milestone in its company history as it celebrates its 20th year as patron of The Open Championship. To mark this anniversary Nikon will be hosting number of local activities during the event, including the PGA Coaching Area which invites keen golfers to have their putting stroke analysed by a PGA professional. Panasonic has announced its support for The Getty Gallery, Stratford, a special Olympic-themed photography exhibition taking place over the duration of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Based in Westfield Shopping Centre, the Gallery will host the biggest collection of photographs from London 2012 and previous Olympic Games, which will be displayed in both 2D and 3D. Free to view and billed as the perfect place to get inspiration for anyone thinking about entering the 2012 awards, the exhibition is open 9.30am-5pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday until 19th August, and features the winning images from the 2011 TPOTY awards as well as historic images from the RGS archive and some special showcases. Additionally, you can buy the new TPOTY book Journey Four, which is not available in the shops.

Cities at Dawn have announced the last two dates for their London at Dawn workshop, as well as a new course called London by Night. The last London at Dawn workshops of the year will take place on 18-19th August and 1st & 8th September, with the cost being £185 per person. “London by Night” is a brand new five-week course comprising a brief introductory session as well as four on-location shooting sessions and a review and group discussion, all for £500. 159 individual works have been selected for the fifth annual Foto8 Summershow. Entries were received from photographers on every continent, as far afield as Hong Kong to Chile and Russia to Australia, making this a record year with more than 3200 total image submissions. A panel of internationally respected judges will select an image to be Best in Show for which there is a £2,000 prize. This year the Best in Show will be judged on 5th July by acclaimed British photographers Alison Jackson and Simon Roberts, the BBC’s online photography director Phil Coomes, TimeOut’s chief arts critic Ossian Ward and critic and curator Gerry Badger. The Summershow 2012 Exhibition will run from 7th July – 18th August.

The United Kingdom’s first Creative Week will run from 9th – 13th July. Intended to be a “celebration of the creativity in the UK,” Creative Week is hosted by Adobe. Each day will focus on a different theme and involve luminaries from the creative world, Adobe evangelists and members of the creative community, including Rufus Deuchler, Jason Levine, Paul Trani, Julieanne Kost, and more. CREATE has announced an upcoming exhibition of David Bailey’s East End photographs, taken over 50 years. Taking place from 6th July - 5 August in the Royal Docks, Newham, this retrospective is one of the highlights of the CREATE summer programme which runs from 21st June to the end of August. The photographs that will be displayed, many of them large-scale prints, document the changing physical and social landscape of east London showing streetscapes, characters and scenes of east London life. Bailey’s photographs also provide a visual record of the different groups of immigrants who have settled in this part of the city. The photographer says, “London’s East End is in my DNA and I’m thrilled to be able to return to my roots in Newham. Now the rest of the world will focus on an area I’ve been looking at all my life.”

Thom Bleasdale has been selected by Centrespace Gallery to show his first ever exhibition. The work entitled ‘A Rare Photograph of the Soul Leaving the Body,’ shows 29 pieces from July 27 until 1 August. “The pieces are mainly about my view on life and my attempt to convince myself that death isn’t terrifying,” Thom said. “Some of the pieces exemplify living to its fullest extent and other pieces demonstrate aspects of life that are often unnoticed, but are much more significant than they first appear.” Centrespace Gallery is located at Leonard Lane, Bristol BS1 1EA.

Epson has announced its support for the “100 FACES OF LONDON” project with photographer Milan Svanderlik. Featuring portraits of one hundred Londoners, reflecting the huge diversity of people who make up this city, the exhibition will be shown in The Crypt Gallery throughout June and July. The images in the exhibition were printed by the photographer on an Epson Stylus Pro 3880.

Nintendo UK has announced Another Dimension, a series of special events and an interactive gallery exhibition, to celebrate the Europe-wide 3D photography competition that is currently underway. Taking place in June will be a series of intimate photography field trips hosted by a range of high profile names, including one of Britain’s best-loved nature enthusiasts, Bill Oddie, and members of The Saturdays. Work created during these unique trips will then be exhibited alongside the best 3D photography work from the competition, within a special pop-up installation created by acclaimed artist Graham Hudson.
