BenQ today launched the 31.5" SW320 UHD monitor featuring a true 10-bit IPS panel, hardware calibration, 99% Adobe RGB colour space coverage and a 14-bit 3D look-up table. The Gamut Duo feature allows users to view content side-by-side in various colour spaces on one screen. The Hotkey Puck can assign colour spaces to preset buttons and switch between them quickly and conveniently. The World Press Photo Foundation invites all professional visual journalists worldwide to participate in the 60th annual World Press Photo Contest and the 7th annual World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest. The annual photo competition, which has been running since 1955, rewards photographers for the best single-exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism. The Digital Storytelling Contest (previously known as the Multimedia Contest) rewards those producing the best forms of visual journalism enabled by digital technologies and the spread of the Internet. The contest is open to digital storytellers, visual journalists and producers, with submissions that include the work of a professional visual journalist. The contest has four categories and is judged online. The 2017 Photo Contest requires registration before 6 January 2017 12.00 CET and submissions can be entered until 11 January 2017 12.00. The deadline for submissions for the 2017 Digital Storytelling Contest is 6 January 2017 12.00.

Phase One today released Capture One Pro 10.  This update brings faster browsing, zooming, panning, and ease in switching between images even at 100 percent view. A new lens tool option corrects lost sharpness caused by diffraction, while an enhanced proof mode allows for onscreen profiling, which takes the guesswork out of the raw conversion process. Additionally, users can now access Capture One Pro directly through a Tangent panel system. This fully integrated panel is literally a new interface into image editing, allowing fast, multiple input commands simultaneously, while viewing the master monitor as the editor "feels" input into the application. A new camera focus tool module has been added to facilitate tethered shooting, which will be especially useful for product, still life, macro, and Cultural Heritage photography projects. Last but not least, Phase One have added support for a number of new cameras including the Olympus OM-D E-M1 ll, Sony RX100M5, Sony A6500 and Sony A99M2. The Fujifilm X-A10 is a new entry-level compact system camera with an APS-sized 16.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, Fujifilm X lens mount and a 180-degree slide-and-tilt type LCD for facilitating selfies. The camera's grip is shaped to accommodate both normal shooting and self-portraits. When taking a selfie, you can focus and release the shutter by pressing the vertical command dial found directly below your index finger to minimise camera shake. Rotating the tilting LCD upward by 180 degrees activates the Eye Detection AF to automatically adjust the focus on the subject’s eyes.  The slide-and-tilt mechanism enables the screen to be fully visible even when it is tilted by 180°. The use of two Command Dials means you only need a thumb to quickly adjust aperture, shutter speed and exposure settings. Frequently used functions such as white balance, continuous shooting and the self-timer can be assigned to standalone function buttons, eliminating the need to dive into the camera's menu.
