Photo Finish“Photo Finish” is a new book from digital imaging experts Jon Canfield and Tim Grey which explores the different ways of presenting your photographs after you have taken them. Capturing a great image is only half the battle; showing it off to the rest of the world is also an essential part of any photographer’s workflow, whether it be to your family members, to clients or for an exhibition. Written from the viewpoint of the digital photographer, “Photo Finish” looks at a wide range of techniques, including printing using an inkjet printer, using traditional print labs and online print services, displaying images on the internet, creating digital slideshows, and finishing and exhibiting prints. During 316 pages, the authors clearly explain why and how you can present your work in the best possible way and make your photographs stand out from the crowd. Find out if “Photo Finish” can make your photographs shine by reading my review.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-J4EXSanyo are not currently one of the major players in the digital camera market, with only a handful of models to choose from. What the Japanese manufacturer lacks in numbers, though, they more than make up for in terms of style and innovation, with cameras like the hybrid Xacti C1 (review coming soon!) marking them out from the competition. The Sanyo Xacti J4 also fits this description. On paper, it’s just another point-and-shoot 4 megapixel model with a short optical zoom. In reality it’s a very stylish, well-made, pocketable camera with lots of innovative features and great image quality. I’ve already told you that I like this camera, so read on to find out exactly why!

Tony WelhamThe 41st PhotographyBLOG Portfolio has been submitted by Tony Welham.

“My name is Tony Welham and have been taking photographs for almost 40 years. I still enjoy creating images without any particular theme apart from recording my experiences. The images I have chosen are a sample of those.

I tend to visit remote areas and enjoy meeting local people. In addition to travel my other interests include, mountaineering, flying (PPL (A)), scuba diving and bridge.

I occasionally use a my Canon D10 digital camera but, as most of my travel is off the beaten track, I still prefer film. The camera I use is a Canon EOS3, a Canon 28-105 lens and an Epson scanner and printers.”

HP Photosmart 945When it was first announced at the end of 2003, the HP Photosmart 945 was at the cutting edge of digital camera design, with a 5 megapixel sensor, Adaptive Lighting Technology that balanced the contrast between darkness and light, an 8x optical zoom equivalent to 37-300mm on a 35mm camera, and a competitive price tag. Nearly one year on, in a rapidly changing market with 5, 6 and 7 megapixel cameras now common-place, how well does the HP Photosmart 945 stand up to the competition? Read my review to find out if this camera still deserves your attention.

Katarzyna and Mariusz WloczysiakThe 39th PhotographyBLOG Portfolio has been submitted by Katarzyna and Mariusz Wloczysiak.

“We are a couple involved in creating fine art nude photographs of Kasia, the model for Mariusz. Living together and sharing common interests facilitates photo adventure and the result is presented in our website. We work together in photography on the exclusive basis, which is also a factor of enhanced mutual understanding in photo shoots.

Nude photography has been our favourite field since our first meeting in June 2003. Mariusz was at that time seeking a model who would like to commit herself to long-term co-operation and Kasia responded to this challenge.

As we are now progressing in our photography, we are all the time trying to express new ideas, which cross our minds. We would like to convey the message of human beauty, respect for nudity and appreciation of the feminine in our work.”
