Epson Stylus Photo R265TrustedReviews have the first online review of the new Epson Stylus Photo R265 printer.

“The prints we produced were of fair quality, though photo output was definitely better than text or graphics. The text pages showed quite irregular characters and in some cases you could see mis-registration between lines of print. For general use, they’d probably be OK, but the output is definitely not among the best we’ve seen. Colour graphics were much better, cleanly reproduced and with good solid fills and no notable dither patterns. The paper nap showed through in places, though.”

HP Photosmart Pro B9180Photo-i have just started an interactive review of the new HP B9180, an 8 colour, A3+ inkjet printer that uses Vivera pigment inks for waterproof photos which resist fading for more than 200 years.

“In February 2006 HP announced a new printer the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 A3 printer. This printer is clearly aimed at the professional and creative photographer. The printer is built like a Sherman tank and is going to withstand heavy duty professional use. The B9180 uses HP’s newly formulated Vivera Pigment inks for outstanding colour quality. I have been using the B9180 for nearly a year and the prints I have been producing surpass all other printers that I have tested. The printer did have one or two quirks, but these have been rectified (so I am told- we will see over the next few days). For a change the Mac drivers were ready before the Windows drivers.”

Lexmark P350 Portable Photo PrinterPCMagazine have published their review of the new Lexmark P350 Portable Photo Printer, which features new Evercolor II ink technology and PerfectFinish Photo Paper.

“A more global issue, though, is that most of the P350’s photos show a slight case of differential gloss, with some areas reflecting light better than others. You can see this effect only from some angles, but at those angles it gives the photos an odd look. You also have to be careful about how you handle photos you care about, because they’re relatively easy to scratch. After I finished evaluating photo quality, I noticed several subtle scratches that were caused just by shuffling through the stack and sliding the back of one photo over the front of another.”

Epson PictureMate PM 280PCMagazine have reviewed the Epson PictureMate PM 280 portable home photo-lab.

“Setup is easy. Slide the ink cartridge—which contains cyan, yellow, magenta, and black inks—into a slot in the back and load paper. Given the built-in CD drive for burning photos to a disc, I suspect a lot of people will stop there. But if you want to print from a computer, you can also install a driver using an automated installation routine, then connect via USB cable.”

Canon PIXMA iP6700DPhoto-i have started an interactive review of the new Canon PIXMA iP6700D printer.

“The iP6700D uses six individual ChromaLife 100 ink tanks, the ink tanks are fitted into the Print Head cradle. Fitting the inks is a simple process twist each orange cap off and inserting the ink into the correct slot on the cradle. Easy, yes, but don’t squeeze the sides or you will re-colour your hands and carpet, as Canon claims 100 years life for the ChromaLife inks you might be looking at messy hands for the rest of your life - still it could be worse, imagine if the inks had a 200 year life. be very careful.”

Canon PIXMA MP960Steves Digicams have just reviewed the new Canon PIXMA MP960 all-in-one printer.

“The MP960 is not the equal of a $1,500 dedicated film scanner, but considering its lower cost and greater versatility, you’ll find it more than adequate. Would you like to digitize that old slide collection that you’ve got gathering dust in the closet before they just fade away? The entire process of scanning a slide or negative is made simple with the included ScanGear software. Not only does it scan quickly, it automatically adjusts the color, brightness and contrast and for old slides it can correct color fade and minimize the dust and scratches too.”

Lexmark P350 Portable Photo PrinterThinkCamera have published the first review of the new Lexmark P350 Portable Photo Printer, which features new Evercolor II ink technology and PerfectFinish Photo Paper.

“What is remarkable is the fact that the colours on the print exactly match those on my monitor. I didn’t have to mess about with profiles, set options or experiment. In Photoshop I “let the printer determine colours” and it did just that - one of the most faithful prints I have seen on an budget inkjet. This really is as it should be - Lexmark supply the printer, the paper and the ink. My screen is carefully calibrated - as long as I don’t fiddle with anything I should get accurate prints time after time (allowing for the difference between LCD and paper). What’s refreshing is that it works!”

Canon PIXMA MP160TrustedReviews have the first online review of the Canon PIXMA MP160 all-in-one.

“Canon claims the PIXMA MP-160 can produce a 15 x 10cm ‘photo lab’ quality print in 52 seconds, but we couldn’t quite match that. Printing from a PC in top quality mode took one minute 50 seconds and in standard mode from a camera, via PictBridge, it still clocked one minute three seconds. This, in itself, is not a bad time and is considerably quicker than, for example, the latest budget all-in-ones from Lexmark. When printing from a camera, pressing Fit to page gives you a borderless print.”
