FXhome has announced the release date of its HitFilm 2 Ultimate video editing and visual effects software. HitFilm 2 Ultimate offers video editing, visual effects and compositing in one package for creative filmmakers. Thanks to a highly successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year (raising £58,126 – more than double the £25,000 goal), the independent UK-based developer has been able to complete the Mac version of the software for release in 2013. Previously only available for Windows PCs, the new release will come with two installers, Mac and PC, for up to three machines per licence. New customers who purchase HitFilm 2 Ultimate can choose whether to download the Mac or PC installer, or both. All existing HitFilm users will automatically get access to the Mac version at no extra cost and the PC version will also get an update with new features. AKVIS has released Version 8 of its ArtWork photo-to-painting software. This update adds a new Share feature that enables users to post pictures directly from the program to social networks. Additionally, the plug-in is now compatible with Photoshop CC and PaintShop Pro X6. AKVIS offers a free upgrade to version 8.0 for all registered customers of ArtWork.

DxO Labs have released DxO ViewPoint 2, a program dedicated to fixing problems with keystoning and volume anamorphosis. This version includes an exclusive new tool for fixing convergent lines in even the most complex images, and adds compatibility with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Apple Aperture. In addition, the software benefits from DxO Optics Modules to correct optical distortions such as barrelling. This upgrade is free to all owners of DxO ViewPoint who purchased a licence on or after 1 August 2013.

Adobe today released version 12 of Adobe Photoshop Elements (PSE) and Premiere Elements. New features in PSE 12 are mobile access; Twitter integration, pet eye correction; 64-bit support for Macs; guided edits; quick frames, effects and textures; plus Straighten, Auto Smart Tone and Content-Aware Move tools. Premiere Elements 12 also offers guided edits and Auto Smart Tone, and adds scores, sound effects, film looks and motion tracking. Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 are immediately available for purchase or £78.15, with upgrade pricing of £63.49.  The Photoshop Elements 12 & Premiere Elements 12 bundle is available now for £117.22, with upgrade pricing of £96.71.

Pixite has released Flickring 2.0 for iPhone and Flickring HD 2.0 for iPad. These Flickr photo viewing apps take full advantage of the new look of the iOS 7 update, and can sync your Camera Roll to your account, completely in the background. Flickring for iPhone is $2.99 and Flickring HD for iPad is $3.99. Both are available now through the iTunes Apps Store.

Triggertrap has released version 2.0 of Triggertrap Mobile. TeoreX has released version 5.5 of Inpaint, an easy-to-use program for effortless retouching of photos and images. This latest update adds a number of powerful tools to make retouching even easier. The improved mask option allows users to quickly select unwanted objects within the image and save the mask for later use with other pictures. Enhancements to the selection process, a number of interface improvements and 64-bit support round off the list of new features. Inpaint 5.5 is available for $19.99.

Phase One today released Capture One 7.1.4, a software update that includes support for new cameras and new lens profiles. This edition adds support for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R and DSC-RX100 II, Fujifilm X-M1, Olympus E-P5 (pictured) and Ricoh GR, plus tethered shooting support for the Nikon D7100 and Nikon D5200 digital SLR cameras. Capture One 7.1.4 is a free update for all existing customers of Capture One 7.

Corel has released Paint Shop Pro X6 Ultimate with 64-bit support, a refined user interface, new quick-selection tools and improved workflows. Performance gains include faster operation, accelerated file opening and saving, and enhanced support for 64-bit Photoshop plug-ins. For the first time ever, Athentech's Perfectly Clear plug-in is included in PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimatem along with FaceFilter3 Standard, a versatile photo retouching and beautifying toolkit by Reallusion.

Version 8.3.1 of DxO Optics Pro adds support for the Panasonic Lumix GF6 (pictured) and G6, Olympus PEN E-P5, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100, and Pentax K-50 II cameras.
