Akvis has released updates to 5 of its Photoshop plug-ins to ensure compatibility with Photoshop CS6. The affected products include Akvis Retoucher, Coloriage, HDRFactory, MakeUp and NatureArt. All of these plug-ins will also be compatible with the upcoming Photoshop Elements 11.

Scarab Darkroom from Scarab Labs is a new, fast, free and easy-to-use raw converter for Windows. “The beta version of the program has been downloaded over 50.000 times, and is proving to be especially popular among Olympus and Sony users,” says developer Kornél Leh?cz. That is not to say Scarab Darkroom is in any way limited to those two brands - in fact it supports raw file formats from over 100 different cameras. Kodak has revealed two all-in-one printers and its new Pic Flick HD iPad app. The Kodak ESP 3.2 all-in-one printer (£79) is the latest addition to the company’s inkjet printer portfolio. “With a refreshed and modern design, it is targeted to photo-centric consumers and families who want great value, quality and simplicity,” Kodak says. “It offers Kodak’s signature easy Wi-Fi set-up and a 6.1cm colour touchscreen for effortless navigation and a better ‘walk up and print’ experience.” The ESP 1.2 all-in-one printer (£69, pictured) provides consumers with an easy way to print and save. It too offers effortless Wi-Fi set up and a 3.8cm intuitive touchframe interface for quick navigation making it simple to print, copy and scan. Coming in June, the free Kodak Pic Flick HD App for iPad lets consumers create personalised photo cards, collages and prints, with the ability to add captions and speech bubbles. For photo prints, Kodak Technology identifies the colours in the photo and automatically generates matching borders for prints and collages.

Nik Software announced today that all of its plug-in products and trial versions have been tested and found to be compatible with the newly released Photoshop CS6, The compatibility testing has been done with the latest versions, which include Dfine 2.110, Viveza 2.007m Cikir Efex Pro 4.002, Silver Efex Pro 2.004, Sharpener Pro 3.008, HDR Efex Pro 1.204 (Mac) and HDR Efex Pro 1.203 (Windows).

DxO Labs have released an update to DxO FilmPack, which adds compatibility with Adobe Photoshop CS6. Allowing users to apply the aesthetic signatures of dozens of films or one of 25 creative renderings to their digital photos, DxO FilmPack v3.2.2 is compatible with DxO Optics Pro 6 & 7, Aperture 3, Lightroom 3 & 4, Photoshop Elements 9 & 10, Photoshop CS3, CS4, CS5 and now CS6. Additionally, it is also available as a standalone application that runs in both 32 and 64 bits under MacOS and Windows.

BlueCam Free is a new camera app for the Apple iPad. Providing an alternative to the built-in Camera app, BlueCam Free offers remote control ability, 9x-153x digital zoom for photos & videos, photo & video timers, photo & video filters, auto and manual uploading to Facebook/Twitter/Flickr and many other features. As the name suggests, the app can be downloaded from iTunes free of charge.

Akvis has released updates to Akvis Sketch, ArtWork and ArtSuite. The updates incorporate bug fixes and add compatibility with Adobe Photoshop CS6. Available as plugins and as standalone applications for Windows and Macintosh, the programs can be purchased separately or as part of a software bundle, via the Akvis website.

Athentech Imaging has released updates to both the iPhone and iPad versions of its Perfectly Clear app. The new versions incorporate a host of improvements, new features and bug fixes. Adobe today announced the immediate availability of Adobe Creative Cloud. Billed as a radical new way of providing tools and services for creatives, Adobe Creative Cloud is a hub for making, sharing and delivering creative work and it is centred around Adobe Creative Suite 6.“Adobe Creative Cloud members receive full access to the entire portfolio of Creative Suite 6 tools, integration with our touch tools, file storage and sharing services and Web hosting – everything they need to go from idea to finished work, at a breakthrough monthly subscription price,“ said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Digital Media Business, Adobe. In addition, two new Touch Apps – Adobe Proto and Adobe Collage – are now available for iOS devices, as are new features and additional language support in both Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas.

Adobe has posted ACR 7.1 and Adobe DNG Converter 7.1 as release candidates. Camera Raw 7.1 adds new Defringe controls to help address chromatic aberration. Defringe is available as part of the Lens Correction panel. Camera Raw can also now read 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit HDR files. Supported HDR formats are TIFF and DNG. It also adds support for 22 new cameras (including the Nikon D800 pictured above) and incorporates five new lens profiles. Note that ACR 7.1 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6.

Adobe has released the final version of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 6.7 for Photoshop CS5 users. This version adds support for 21 new digital cameras, including the Canon EOS 1D X, 5D Mark III, PowerShot G1 X and PowerShot S100V, the Fuji FinePix F505EXR, F605EXR, F770EXR, F775EXR, HS30EXR, HS33EXR and X-S1, the Nikon D4 and D800/D800E, the Olympus E-M5 (pictured), the Pentax K-01, the Samsung NX20, NX210 and NX1000, the Sony Alpha NEX-VG20 and A57. Note that ACR 6.7 is not compatible with versions of Photoshop older than CS5.

Boston-based Litl has released version 1.3 of Woven, a free photo viewing app for iOS devices. “Woven weaves together all of a user’s photos,” the developers say. “After users link the app to their online photo-sharing sites, they can effortlessly glide through their photos in a single, consolidated photo album, whether on or offline. A built-in uploader additionally makes photos stored locally on the iPhone itself available for convenient viewing within the app.” Woven 1.3 for iOS is available through the iTunes App Store in the Photo & Video category. The app has also been released for Kindle, Nook and Android devices.

XPro Software has posted a release candidate of GeniuX Photo EFX 3. Boasting a 32 bit colour graphics engine, GeniuX Photo EFX 3 ensures smooth tonal gradations with no dithering artifacts, supports a number of camera raw formats as well as PSD files created with Adobe Photoshop, and offers real-time corrections and short processing times. DxO Optics Pro v7.2.3 offers support for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and for the Pentax K-01. 70 DxO Optics Modules for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and 26 Modules for the Pentax K-01 have been added.

By combining the success from their previous two products – the Kickstarter-funded Triggertrap v1 and Triggertrap Shield for Arduino – the Triggertrap team announced a brand new product today; Triggertrap Mobile. The Triggertrap Mobile app introduces several triggering mechanisms that have never before been seen in a consumer device: For example, Distance-Lapse triggering enables the user to set up a camera to take a photo at regular distance-intervals (every 100 meters, for example). When they are assembled into a movie, it appears as if the entire journey was conducted at exactly the same pace. In Eased Timelapse mode, the Triggertrap Mobile app uses mathematical formulas to vary the interval between photographs dynamically. The result is that, in the assembled time-lapse video, it appears as if time speeds up at the beginning of the video, and slows back down at the end. In addition to the standard Timelapse, Distance-Lapse and Eased Timelapse modes, Triggertrap Mobile offers nine other triggering modes built in, including face recognition, a shock sensor, a motion sensor, a magnetometer, a sound sensor, automatic HDR bracketing with up to 19 exposures per set and configurable steps between each exposure, a HDR Timelapse mode and Star Trail photography mode.
