New features in this version include an enhanced Stules workflow, tokenised watermarking, a new master reset function, vectorscope orientation for colour wheels, and a number of Apple Script enhancements. This update adds support for raw files generated by the Pentax K-70 and KP, the Panasonic GH5, GX8, TZ85, TZ100 and FZ2000, the Nikon D5600 and D3400, the Fuji X-Pro2, X-T20 . Phew, what a day! Press Day at Photokina 2016 turned out to be much bigger than we expected, with flagship products seemingly being announced on the hour, every hour. Tamron USA announced that its new Mobile Learning Center Tour will commence on 14th April in Fairfield, NJ. The new fully-equipped and customised Tamron vehicle will travel around the USA through December 2016, making over 70 official stops at authorised Tamron retailers. The Tamron vehicle will pull into the parking lot and set up for a full day of education to help people with their photography questions, see the latest in Tamron products, and provide valuable tips and tricks on subjects attendees frequently photograph. Each day will feature team members leading free seminars under the Tamron Mobile Learning Tent - "Travel & Nature Techniques," "The Art of Macro," and "Light Like a Pro." Attendees are encouraged to bring their cameras so that after each seminar, they can try out Tamron lenses on subjects such as birds of prey or other animals brought to the event by local conservationists and sanctuaries.

Tamron USA have released a firmware update service for owners of select Tamron lenses who wish to use their lenses on the Canon EOS 5DS or 5DSR cameras. "We have learned that the AF functions of the following interchangeable lenses for Canon do not function in Live View mode when used on the EOS 5Ds and EOS 5DsR which went on sale in June 2015," the company says. "Firmware update service is already available as this is the same case when EOS Rebel T6s and the EOS Rebel T6i were released." Those who require the firmware update service are advised to consult Tamron's service department.

The Tamron 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD is a new superzoom lens for full-frame cameras, featuring a Piezo Drive AF motor, moisture-resistant construction, and a more compact build than its immediate predecessor. Headline features include optical vibration compensation, advanced anti-reflection coating, four low-dispersion elements, three molded glass aspherical elements, one hybrid aspherical element, one extra-refractive-index glass element and one element of UXR (Ultra-Extra Refractive Index) glass. The lens will be available in the U.S. in both Canon and Nikon mount on June 26, 2014 at $849.

Designed for dSLRs with APS-C sized sensors, the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro has a 35mm focal range of 24-450mm and an optical formula comprising sixteen elements in twelve groups, plus an iris diaphragm with seven rounded aperture blades. Shipping with a petal-shaped lens hood, the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro has a 67mm filter thread, 39cm minimum focus distance and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2.9. The lens incorporates a PZD (Piezo Drive) focus motor and Tamron’s exclusive VC (Vibration Compensation) technology to combat motion blur resulting from shaky hands. Pricing has yet to be communicated.

Entrants will create a 3D virtual exhibit showcasing 8-14 of their best images in a food theme. Professional photographer Hernan Rodriguez will judge the contest and choose the winning exhibit based on overall image quality and originality of the collection. The winning exhibit will be featured on the Tamron USA website and Tamron newsletter. Adobe has posted updates to Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), DNG Converter and Lightroom, including preliminary support for the Nikon D600 digital SLR camera (pictured), allowing you to play with the raw files provided in our Nikon D600 review. The updates also add support for 21 other cameras ranging from the Canon EOS 650D / Rebel T4i to the Sony DSC-RX100 and profiles for over 40 Canon, Carl Zeiss, Hasselblad, Leica, Nikon, Pentax, Sigma and Tamron lenses. The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.2 updates additionally incorporate a number of bug fixes.

The Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC all-in-one zoom lens for the E-mount of Sony mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera series has been named the “Best Entry-Level CSC Lens” by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). This light and compact lens delivers the 35mm equivalent of 27-300mm yet weighs a mere 16.2 oz. At the telephoto end, the lens can focus as close as 19.6 inches; to aid in close-up and long-range telephoto shooting it incorporates a specifically designed moving coil Vibration Compensation feature. The AF drive has a stepping motor that is optimized for use with Sony’s contrast-detection AF system.

Tamron has announced the development of a new fast, optically stabilised, splashproof standard zoom for full-frame cameras. The Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD will feature the manufacturer’s Vibration Compensation (VC) technology and an ultrasonic focus motor for quiet AF operation. The optical formula comprises 17 lens elements in 12 groups, including three low-dispersion, two high-refractive-index and three glass-moulded aspherical elements as well as a hybrid aspherical element; and an iris diaphragm with nine rounded aperture blades. As the world’s first 24-70mm f/2.8 lens with VC technology, the Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD will be available in Canon and Nikon fit. A special A-mount version with no Vibration Compensation will be marketed to Sony DSLR users. Pricing and availability to be communicated.
Tamron USA’s Mom-to-Mom Project is a series of photo exhibitions that feature technical tips and artistic inspiration from image-making moms. The exhibits, which focus on a new theme each month, are designed to encourage other moms to experiment with their cameras, lenses, and accessories to hone their own photographic skills. Visitors are encouraged to contribute their own photography comments and concepts. “We designed the Mom-to-Mom exhibits to serve as a fun, interactive venue where moms brainstorm with and glean ideas from other mom photographers to boost their confidence when creating their own family memories,” says Tamron Chief Marketing Officer Stacie Errera. The inaugural exhibition for November 2011 features the photographers’ favorite way to get their kids to smile. Upcoming themes scheduled through the end of 2012 include holiday card photos, youth sports, multigenerational portraits, and special event photography such as birthdays and back-to-school imagery.

Tamron are drawing the crowds here at Photokina with a series of fashion shows and demos. DxO Optics Pro v5.0 now supports the Samsung GX-20 DSLR camera. Support for the GX-20 camera body and an initial selection of lenses has been added. DxO have also implemented 22 additional DxO Correction Modules for a variety of Nikon lenses, including the 16-85 f/3.5-5.6 and 80-200mm f/2.8. The revamped AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 lens will have a built-in motor AF system. The price of the new Tamron 70-300mm for Nikon in the US is $189.00 and it will ship this week. It will be launched in Japan on February 1st 2008.
The winners of Tamron’s “An Emotional Appeal” 2007 photo competition have been announced. “Mixed Emotions” by Lance Taylor was chosen as the Grand Prize Picture and wins a Tamron AF 18-250mm lens for a picture of his wife Jacqueline and 3-year old daughter Jillian at a beach near Corolla, North Carolina. Tamron has also just announced the “An Emotional Appeal” 2008 Photo Contest - the deadline for entries is 11/30/08.
PMA 2007: Tamron have a couple of exciting new lenses,the 70-200MM F/2.8 DI LD (IF) MACRO and the 28-300MM F/3.5-6.3 XR DI VC LD ASPHERICAL (IF) MACRO with vibration compensation. Unfortunately they were both displayed under glass, which meant that I couldn’t actually try them out. Both lenses are suitable for APS-C and full-frame sensors.

This update fixes a number of issues with 4.9 including a severe problem with Sony A100 files. It adds support for the Lecia Dlux3, but mainly fixes problems and memory leaks. It is a recommended update for all users, but also, please keep a backup of your regular 4.9 install should you need it.

AF 28-200mm – High Power Zoom & AF 70-300mm Telephoto Zoom now available in Di Series
TAMRON announces the introduction of two up-graded popular Tamron lenses, both feature a Di optical sysem for use with digital and film cameras. Di (Digitally Integrated) is a designation Tamron gives lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance chatacteristics of digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras. The 28-200mm was the first generation of high-powered zoom lenses originally introduced in 1992. The current 28-200mm model makes use of XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass to achieve a remarkably lightweight and compact product that has won wide acclaim and this new version incorporates improved multi-coating for digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras. The 70-300mm offers a lightweight and compact zoom lens with macro capability that can now be used with digital cameras. By flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm, a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 95cm is obtained, enabling close-up shots of objects that normally require the use of a specially designed macro lens.
