The ASUS ZenFone 5Z and the ZenFone 5 are new high-performance 6.2-inch dual-camera smartphones. They are the first ever ZenFone models to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI). Both feature all-screen displays with a 90% screen-to-body ratio in a remarkably compact size that's comparable to a standard 5.5-inch smartphone.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphone features dual rear sensors with ZEISS optics that combine an ultra-sensitive, wide angle primary camera for impressive low-light performance and a secondary 13MP sensor with 2x optical zoom. In the Pro Camera mode you get full manual control over every picture you take, helping you capture photos like a pro. Available from early April, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will retail for a global average retail price of €749.

Sony Mobile have announced two new smartphones to headline its flagship range, the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. The XZ2 offers the world’s 1st 4K HDR Movie recording in a smartphone. Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are available globally from March 2018 and both will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Sony are also showcasing a new ultra-high sensitivity camera technology at the Mobile World Congress show. This newly developed dual camera and Sony's  fusion image signal processor allows image capture in extremely dark conditions thanks to its unprecedented ISO sensitivity of 51200 for photos and ISO 12800 for video, which is currently only possible with inter-changeable lens cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones feature Super Slow-mo video, best-in-class low light camera and AR Emojis. Samsung’s Dual Aperture (F1.5 / F2.4) automatically lets in more light when it’s dark and less light when it’s too bright, taking photos that are crisp and clear. Super Slow-mo records dynamic, slow-motion video that captures 960 frames per second. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available starting in March 16, 2018 in select markets and will be offered in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue and a new hue, Lilac Purple.

The new LG V30S ThinQ smartphone includes three new intelligent camera features: AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode. AI CAM analyses subjects in the frame and recommends the optimal shooting mode, while Bright Mode uses algorithms to brighten images by a factor of two for better looking photos without the noise.

The new LG K8 and K10 smartphones will offer advanced camera features such as high-speed auto focus and noise reduction for better low-light photography. The LG K10 is equipped with th eadvanced 13MP rear camera technology found in the flagship LG G6, a high resolution 8MP front camera that supports Bokeh when shooting selfies, and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) which is 23 percent faster than traditional auto focus. The updated LG K8 delivers more advanced camera UX features for 2018 and low-light photography has been improved from the previous generation K8 with even brighter, clearer images.

LG will introduce the first of a suite of AI technologies for its smartphones at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The new technology will be featured in the 2018 version of the LG V30, LG’s most advanced flagship smartphone to date.

The new Honor 9 Lite smartphone features four cameras, with dual-lens 13MP and 2MP cameras on both the front and back. It also has an exquisitely designed glass case with nano-scale optical coating, giving a mirror-like effect, all for just £199.99 in the UK. The Honor 9 Lite will be available for purchase from February 6 onwards.

ScanTransfer (https://ScanTransfer.net) is a free Windows desktop software program which enables users to transfer photos and videos from their smart phones to a computer or laptop.

The new Insta360 Nano S turns turns an iPhone into the ultimate tool for capturing, sharing and communicating in 360°. The Nano S can record 4K 360° video and shoot 20 megapixel 360° photos and introduces 360° Video Chat and the new MultiView feature. 

The Insta360 Nano S comes in silver or black and has a suggested retail price of $239.00 USD in the U.S.

DJI has unveiled two new handheld camera stabilisers at CES 2018 – the Osmo Mobile 2 for smartphones and the Ronin-S for DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 (£139) has a lightweight design that supports portrait orientation, simpler controls with cinematic zoom, a longer battery life for more filming, and intelligent features.

The Ronin-S is DJI’s first single-handed stabiliser for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, with a compact form and dedicated buttons to control camera settings and precise positioning.

We were at the global launch of the Honor 7x and the Honor View 10 smart phones in London last week. During the event, Honor CEO George Zhao took us through the key features of the two new phones.

The View 10 is Honor’s first AI-powered smartphone available in Western Europe. Retailing for £449.99, the Honor View 10 features a dual-lens camera with 16 MP and 20 MP on the back and 13 MP on the front, F/1.8 wide aperture and 2-in-1 PDAF automatic focusing.

The professional-quality camera for smartphones DxO ONE is now available for Android. The DxO ONE Android is equipped with a Type-C USB connector and is currently compatible with 13 Android devices. The DxO ONE’s essential features are now available for Android, including photo and video capabilities in all modes (auto, scene, semi-auto, and manual), related shooting settings (aperture, sensitivity, exposure time, exposure compensation, etc.), and Direct Wi-Fi connectivity.

Halide 1.5 is a camera app with a redesigned user interface made from scratch for iPhone X, as well as offering numerous enhancements and new features for all iPhones. Halide 1.5 will be on sale for $2,99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) for a limited time during iPhone X launch weekend from Friday November 3rd, to Monday November 6th, after which the price will go up to $4,99.
