The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II is an advanced compact camera with a 1.0-type 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and 4.2x optical zoom lens. The first camera to include Canon’s new DIGIC 7 processor, the G7 X Mark II  also features super-fast AF speeds, 8 fps RAW continuous shooting, improved optical Image Stabilizer with Dual Sensing IS technology, Full HD movie recording, and built-in wi-fi and NFC connectivity.

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II is available from April 2016 with an RRP of £549.99/€769.99.

In he US the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II digital camera is currently scheduled to be available in May 2016 for an estimated retail price of $699.99.

The Canon PowerShot SX720 HS is a new 40x superzoom camera. The SX720 HS combines a 20.3 MP CMOS sensor with DIGIC 6 processing and a 40x optical zoom (24-960mm). 

The PowerShot SX720 HS is available from April 2016 with an RRP of £299.99/€419.99.

In the US the Canon PowerShot SX720 HS digital camera is currently scheduled to be available in March 2016 for an estimated retail price of $379.99.

Ricoh has announced the Ricoh GR II Silver Edition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the company. This exclusive package consists of a silver edition of the GR II large-sensor digital compact camera and an exclusively designed camera case. The camera body has a high-grade, silver-color leather-tone finish, featuring an elegant, grained texture, and the shutter release button and the ring cap also boast a silver finish. Additionally, the lens descriptions are engraved on the front ring using a diamond-cutting process and the GR logo’s color on the camera’s front panel has been changed to white. The Ricoh GR II Silver Edition is limited to 3,200 units worldwide.

Panasonic UK is offering consumers up to £100/€140 cashback with the purchase of select Lumix G compact system cameras and Lumix compacts. Just in time for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR camera is a brand new flagship DSLR camera. Outwardly the EOS-1D X Mark II looks very similar to its 4-year-old predecessor, but inside it boasts a lot of cutting-edge features. These include a brand new 20.2 megapixel full-frame sensor with an on-chip analog to digital convertor, 14fps continuous shooting with full auto-focus and metering and up to 170 RAW file buffer (16 fps in Live View mode) and an ISO range of 100-51,200, expandable to 50-409,600.

Leica Camera has unveiled its first camera designed specifically for outdoor and underwater photography - the Leica X-U (Typ 113). The waterproof Leica X-U is made in Germany in collaboration with Audi Design and features a Summilux 23mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens with underwater protection filter, a large 16.2 MP effective APS-C CMOS sensor, and Full HD movie recording.

The Leica X-U (Typ 113) is available now from Leica stores and authorised Leica UK dealers, at a suggested retail price of £2,400 inc VAT.

In the US, the Leica X-U (Typ 113) is priced at $2,950 and will be available by the end of January at your local Leica Store, Leica Boutique or Leica Dealer.

Fuji have published four high-resolution sample photos taken with the new Fujifilm X70 digital compact camera. Captured by Norifumi Inagaki, Jonas Dyhr Rask and Tae Young An, these Fuji X70 samples were taken at sensitivity settings ranging from ISO 200/24° to ISO 1,250/32°.

The newly announced Fujifilm X-Pro2, along with the premium compact X70 and XF100-400mm lens, will be on display - for the first time in the United Kingdom - at the The Societies’ Convention held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in London, from January 22nd-24th. This unique opportunity to get a first look at the new Fujifilm X-Pro2 will be exclusive to visitors to the Convention. In addition, the Fujifilm stand will also have a full range of Fujifilm X-series cameras on display, including the X-T1, X-T10 and X100T. Fujinon lenses will be on show, offering the opportunity for visitors to ‘touch and try’ the cameras and lenses.

The Fujifilm X70 is almost the same camera as the flagship X100T model, with a much smaller body and a total weight reduction of 100g that's mainly achieved by omitting an optical viewfinder. Instead, an external OVF accessory will be available complete with 21/28mm frame lines - it remains to be seen if the smaller, lighter body outweighs not having an OVF built-in - Fujifilm certainly seem to think so.

The Fujifilm X70 is the smallest and lightest X-Series premium compact digital camera with an APS-C sized sensor. The X70 features a FUJINON 18.5mm F2.8 lens, 16.3-megapixel APS-C sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor, EXR Processor II image processing engine, and a 180-degree tilting touchscreen LCD. The Fujifilm X70 will be on sale in the UK from February 2016 in both Black and Silver versions for £549.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP90 is a new tough action camera. The XP90 is waterproof to 50ft/15m, can withstand a drop of up to 5.8ft/1.75m, will still operate in temperatures as low as 14°F/-10°C and is dustproof to prevent the intrusion of dust or sand. The The Fujifilm FinePix XP90 will be available in yellow, blue, lime and orange in February, price to be confirmed.

The Nikon Coolpix A100 is a lightweight 20-megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom and Target Finding auto focus. Twelve post-shoot retouch effects in Glamour retouch can add make-up with Eye shadow, Mascara or Powder options, or hide bags under eyes. Available in a range of colours, the Nikon Coolpix A100 features a range of quick effects, special effects and a glamour retouch menu for flawless portraits. In addition to capturing 20-megapixel stills, the Coolpix A100 can also record 720p HD videos at the touch of a button, while motion blur reduction keeps images crisp and clear. Exclusive to Argos in the UK, the Nikon Coolpix A100 is available immediately for £89.99.

The Nikon Coolpix A10 is a new 16-megapixel digital compact camera with a 26-130mm equivalent Nikkor zoom lens. Powered by AA batteries, the Nikon Coolpix A10 has a 2.7" LCD screen and a dedicated movie record button for capturing HD videos. Images can be enhanced with a variety of special effects, plus quick effects can be added in-camera straight after shooting. Smile timer takes a shot when it recognises the subject smiling and blink proof displays a warning message if it detects that your subject blinked. Skin softening effect comes with improved facial detection and enhanced skin tone exposure control, so portrait subjects always look flawless. The camera is available for £59.99 / €89.95 from the end of this month.

Canon are expanding their IXUS range of compact digital cameras with three new models. The Canon IXUS 175 (£99.99/€149.99) has a 20-megapixel CCD imager, a 28-224mm equivalent lens and a 2.7" rear screen, and is capable of capturing 720p HD videos. The IXUS 180 (£129.99/€179.99) has a similar sensor and display but comes with a 24-240mm equivalent lens, optical image stabilisation and Wi-Fi connectivity. The IXUS 285 (£169.99/€239.99, pictured) has a 20.2-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, an optically stabilised 25-300mm equivalent zoom lens, a 3" screen, Full HD movie recording capabilities, and Wi-Fi with Dynamic NFC technology.

The 16-megapixel Olympus Stylus Tough TG-870 is a premium rugged camera with a 21-105mm equivalent lens 180-degree tilting 920,000-dot LCD screen, customisable front button, built-in Wi-Fi, next-generation GPS, and 13 Art Filters. The camera is waterproof to depths of 50 feet (15 m), freezeproof to 14℉ (-10℃), shockproof from 7 feet (2.1 m), crushproof to 220 pounds of force (100 kgf) and dustproof. The customisable button on the front of the camera can be programmed for several functions, including shutter release, video recording, monitor boost, LED assist and Super Macro Mode. The Panasonic Lumix TZ100 is, a premium compact travel camera with a 1"-type sensor, 4K video capture and a 25-250mm lens. This camera is the first in the Lumix TZ series to incorporate an f/2.8-5.9 Leica DC lens with 10x optical zoom and hybrid O.I.S.
