Sony is exhibiting 4 lenses (FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS, FE 28mm F2, Distagon T* FE 35mm F1.4 ZA, FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS) and 2 converters (FE Ultra Wide Converter and FE Fisheye Converter) supporting 35 mm full-frame sensors under development for reference at Photokina. Including these lenses, Sony is introducing its lens development roadmap, which shows that Sony aims to release a total of over twenty α E-mount lenses supporting 35 mm full-frame sensors in 2016.

The ‘Capture One’ RAW converter and image editing software from Phase One has been newly adapted for Sony. ‘Capture One Express (for Sony)’ will be provided at no extra charge to users who purchase an α interchangeable-lens camera or Cyber-shot RX digital still camera.

Running Android 4.4, the connected CM1 camera/smartphone features a 20 megapixel 1-inch sensor, 4K video recording, Venus image processing engine, 4.7-inch Full-HD Touch screen with 6,220k dots, manual lens control ring, a fixed 28mm f/2.8 Leica lens, 16GB internal memory and microSD support. Sigma Corporation of America today announced the availability of the Sigma dp1 Quattro camera and a new viewfinder that will magnify Quattro cameras’ LCD screens. Unveiled in February, the Sigma dp1 Quattro utilises a newly developed, fixed 19mm (28mm eq.) f/2.8 wide-angle lens that is specifically designed and optimised to pair with Sigma’s new Quattro sensor, which outputs 5424x3616-pixel raw images at the highest resolution setting. The camera will be available in the United States in mid-October

Exclusively designed for the Quattro series of cameras. the new LCD View Finder LVF-01 attaches to the camera’s LCD screen to eliminate outside light and magnifies the display 2.5 times. The Ricoh G800 is a new heavy-duty digital compact camera with a back-illuminated, 16-megapixel CMOS imager. Launching on 26th September worldwide and available from October 2014 in the UK, the Ricoh G800 is water-, dust-, impact- and chemical-resistant enough for the harshest working environments and occupations. Like its predecessor the Ricoh G700, the new G800 can be used at depths of up to 5m (for up to 2 hours) and has been found to withstand drops of up to 2m in tests conducted according to American military standards. New features include an increased resolution, Full HD movies and improved password protection. Ricoh has added support for separate administrator and user passwords, so that in addition to preventing on-site handling errors and unauthorised viewing of photographs, security settings can be fine-tuned separately for administrators and on-site workers according to how each uses the device. Features carried over from the Ricoh G700 include a 28-140mm equivalent lens, a 3-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 920K dots, an electronic level gauge, and a wide array of security functions. The suggested retail price is £599.99.

The Fujifilm X100T is a premium large-sensor digital compact camera with an ultra-fast electronic shutter and an advanced hybrid viewfinder featuring real-time parallax correction and an electronic rangefinder. In electronic rangefinder mode, the focus area is enlarged and displayed in the bottom right of the viewfinder. Part of the original optical image is blocked and the EVF display is projected in the resulting space to facilitate manual focusing. Additionally, Focus Peaking and Digital Split Image modes can be selected and the magnification of the focused area can be adjusted. Full HD videos can now be recorded while using the optical viewfinder. A completely silent electronic shutter that is capable of exposures up to 1/32,000sec has also been added, making the Fujifilm X100T one of the most discreet cameras out there. Sony has issued a firmware update for its Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 digital superzoom camera. Version 2.00 eables shooting 60p/30p/24p/120p movies in the XAVC S format, which supports high bit rates. Specifically, users can shoot 1080p movies at frame rates of 60/50/30/25/24fps, and 720p videos at up to 100 and 120fps in the new format. Note that when shooting a movie in the XAVC S format, you'll need to ensure that an SDXC card of Class 10 or faster is used.

Casio has announced a very unusual-looking action camera feaaturing a detachable monitor. The new Casio Exilim EX-FR10 "split camera" has a physical shutter release on the main camera body but can also be operated remotely via its detachable, Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Key specifications include a 14-megapixel, 1/2.3"-type CMOS sensor, 21mm (eq.) f/2.8 lens and a 2", 230,400-dot screen. Images captured with the Exilim EX-FR10 are recorded on microSD memory cards, and can be sent effortlessly to a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi. The camera will be available in Japan in three different colours; orange, white and green - priced at 50,000 yen (about £300) -, and comes with an assortment of accessories including various straps and attachments. Currently, there is no word on international availability or pricing.
