CNET have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S51C camera, which features a distinctive wave-surface design, 8.1 megapixel sensor and wireless connectivity.
“To Nikon’s credit, the S51c’s wireless functioned flawlessly when I used it with my wireless router at home. Set up was simple, and fairly quick, on the camera. After I sent my first picture e-mail, I got an e-mail from my Picturetown that prompted me to complete my registration at Nikon’s Web site, where I input the camera’s access key (found in the wireless portion of the setup menu) and I was ready to go.”

Steves Digicams have reviewed the new Fujifilm A920, a 9 megapixel entry-level digital camera aimed at the first-time buyer.
“Image quality when using the 9M Fine mode was good for an entry-level digicam. Outdoors, it captures nice images with beautiful colors and good exposure. Images are sharp too, however, I did notice a bit of edge softness. The image noise was low on outdoor shots, however like the A900, there was still a significant amount in our indoor portraits (where the camera selected a higher ISO setting). The noise in these photographs is not enough to show up in smaller prints, like your typical 4x6, but will be noticeable in larger 8x10-inch and up prints. “

CNET have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T2, a compact camera with 4GB of internal memory that can store up to 1,000 8 megapixel images.
“Overall, the T2’s photos look pretty good. As with the T200 and T20, they’re softer than the previous generation’s—notably the T100—and than some of the competition’s, due to what looks like more aggressive noise reduction. Still, they show good exposure and automatic white balance. There’s a bit of lens distortion and a bit of purple and cyan fringing, but the colors look pleasing and reasonably saturated. Like most snapshot cameras, photos taken at sensitivities beyond ISO 200 look really mushy and by ISO 800 lack detail entirely, so take Sony’s claim of ISO 3200 capability for the T2 with a chunk of salt.”

PhotoReview have reviewed Sony DSC-H3, the smallest ever Cyber-shot camera featuring a Carl Zeiss 10x zoom lens.
“If you can manage with limited wide-angle coverage and do without a viewfinder, a full range of exposure adjustments and widescreen video recording, the DSC-H3 is a nice little camera that delivers good quality pictures for the money. Although it’s not quite as small as Panasonic’s popular DMC-TZ3 model, which also boasts a 10x optical zoom lens, it’s still not too big for travellers if you don’t fit the lens hood and adaptor.”

CameraLabs have reviewed the Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS, an 8 megapixel camera which offers a 28mm 3.8x wide-angle zoom lens with optical Image Stabilizer.
“From the first moment you pick up the Canon Digital Ixus 860IS / PowerShot SD870 IS, it’s clear you’re dealing with a quality product. It feels well built and comfortable to hold, starts very quickly, offers decent wide angle coverage and boasts a huge screen which looks great in use.”

DPReview have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix P5100, the new flagship camera in the COOLPIX range, offering 12.1 megapixels, 3.5x zoom (35-123mm) and the EXPEED digital image processor.
“The noisy images (and unimpressive noise reduction) at anything significantly above base ISO are to be expected from a camera built around such a small sensor, but there’s no good reason why the P5100’s control system needs to be so awkward. Inconsistent use of the control wheel and a lack of clear reporting of relevant information back to the user make the P5100 more frustrating than it needs to be.”

CNET have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T200, the first digital camera to automatically react to a person’s smile.
“If not for the softer images, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T200 would be a fine followup to the excellent T100. It shoots as fast, it offers more features, and, most amazingly, its touch-screen interface won’t make you want to throw it out of a moving car. If you can still find it, you’re better off with the T100. If you can’t find it, though, or if you have a thing for touch screens, the DSC-T200 will probably satisfy your snapshot needs.”

TrustedReviews have reviewed the new Canon Powershot SX100, the first camera in the new SX series, offering a 10x zoom, image stabilized lens and 8 megapixel resolution.
“The SX100 also score high marks for its overall picture quality, although it isn’t entirely problem-free. The lens is extremely good, providing almost no barrel distortion at wide angle and only a tiny amount of pincushion distortion at telephoto. The sharpness and level of fine detail is excellent in the centre of the frame, bit it does drop off somewhat towards the edges, with some noticeable chromatic aberration. Colour and exposure are also excellent, and the dynamic range of the 1/2.5-inch CCD is surprisingly good, providing both highlight and shadow detail on high-contrast shots. The only real problem is image noise, which is present in all shots over 100 ISO.”

DIWA member Photoxels have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix P5100, the new flagship camera in the COOLPIX range, offering 12.1 megapixels, 3.5x zoom (35-123mm) and the EXPEED digital image processor.
“The Nikon Coolpix P5100 is identical to the Coolpix P5000 with a slight increase to 12.1MP resolution. Many of you will like this relatively compact digital camera that offers total exposure flexibility in an attractive and durable body. The design is clean with lots of controls that make the camera intuitive to use. The P5100 has one of the best grip on a compact digital camera. The textured and almost all-black finish give the camera a professional look.”

DIWA member LetsGoDigital have reviewed the HP R937, which features a 3.6 inch interactive touchscreen LCD, 8 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom lens.
“All in all HP once again succeed in surprising us with a nice camera. They just know how to design easy to operate cameras with useful functions without useless ballast. Of course the enhanced photographer will find this camera too simple, but he/she can find his/her thing at other brands. For those who want easy and simple photography it is well-worth looking at the HP assortment. However; before I can be completely enthusiastic, HP should put some time and effort into one issue and that is noise.”

Imaging Resource have reviewed the Sony W200, the first 12 megapixel camera on the market, which offers a 3x optical zoom lens, metal body, 2.5-inch LCD screen and an eye-level viewfinder.
“Overall, the Cyber-shot DSC-W200 is an excellent all-around digital camera. It has a lot of flexibility for a range of users, it handles a variety of common-yet difficult exposure scenarios well, and is easy to operate. It’s small, stylish, and well-suited in terms of exposure, color, and responsiveness to a range of situations. Exposures under harsh sunlight are a bit contrasty, but the camera does offer a contrast adjustment to counteract that effect. Barrel distortion is high, and corner softness is evident in some cases, but overall lens performance is still good.”

Steves Digicams have reviewed the Olympus SP-560 UZ, the successor to the SP-550 UZ, which adds Face Detection and a new 8 megapixel sensor.
“Our image quality results were good for an 8-megapixel super-zoom model. Using the SHQ mode, the SP-560 captures beautiful images indoors and out, that are nice and sharp with minimal edge softness. Colors are richly saturated, and the exposure system does well in most cases. I did find that when shooting our M&M man in ambient lighting, it had some troubles and produced images that were a bit warm. Noise is well controlled from ISO 400 and below, however as with all consumer models that feature such high sensitivity capabilities, noise becomes more detectable as you increase the ISO number.”

DigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the Olympus SP-560 UZ, the successor to the SP-550 UZ, which adds Face Detection and a new 8 megapixel sensor.
“The revamped Olympus SP-560UZ will retail for $499, the same introductory price as the SP-550. This price is expected as the old model is, well, old. And the new model isn’t very different than the old one. Sure, it adds face detection and an ever-so-slightly wider lens, but that doesn’t justify any major price hike. As for value, $499 is at the high end of what most consumers want to pay for a non-DSLR camera.”

CNET have reviewed the Sony DSC-S700, which offers 7.2 megapixels, 2.4 inch LCDa, ISO 1000 and a 3x optical zoom lens.
“In the highly competitive low-end camera market, it takes a little more work to stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, the frill-free Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S700 can’t quite keep up with better same-priced models like the Canon PowerShot A550 or Sony’s own, slightly more expensive DSC-W55.”

Imaging Resource have reviewed the new Canon SD870 IS camera, which offers 8 megapixels and a 3.8x, 28mm wide zoom.
“There’s a lot to like about the Canon PowerShot SD870 IS. Perhaps the best selling feature is the large and lovely 3-inch LCD screen, which makes an excellent playback device. Moms who want to carry around their own “brag book” of weddings and newborns have an excellent choice here, although I found the slideshow options a bit wanting. This is not a camera for someone new to digital photography, but rather for someone who knows their way around a digital camera…”

“Bottom line - we have loved Panasonic’s “FZ” series since we reviewed the DMC-FZ1 back in 2003. The Lumix DMC-FZ18 continues their tradition of offering outstanding shooting performance, excellent image quality, loads of useful exposure settings, and a Very powerful zoom range (with O.I.S.), all packed in a stylish shell. PCMag have reviewed the Fujifilm Finepix F50fd compact digicam, which has a 12 megapixel sensor, Dual Image Stabilization, and Face Detection 2.0 technology with a a new Automatic Red-Eye Removal feature.
“The Fuji FinePix Z50fd falls into place on the high end of the compact snapshot-camera market, with its 12-megapixel resolution and effective implementation of some of the latest point-and-shoot photo technology. With good image quality, a useful and flexible set of features, and a sturdy, ergonomically appealing design, it’s a pocket-size model that I would recommend to any photographer who doesn’t need advanced manual controls or a large zoom range.”
